I’ve shuffled through your music so often and this has played but I never stopped listening long enough to comment on every song. But brother I have listened to your channel for a while and this is awesome like everything else
I'm glad someone noticed. The music of so many self-produced musicians is loads better and more sophisticated than a lot of the classics that may or may not inspired them: Tangerine Dream, Brian Eno, Jean-Michel Jarre, etc. Not because of the instruments but because of the vocabulary evolving, like in any genre. Especially for those artists who don't mind using digital sounds or complex setups the textures are infinitely precise and the moods informed by newer works of literary or cinematic fiction as well as what we have seen to be actual scientific advances. And there's definitely a darker mood, a feeling of dystopia. The synth revolution with machines like Elektron and the Eurorack explosion have also created a new ambient scene and a sound, a new mood, and new subgenres. There are loads of youtubers or soundclouders etc who have nothing to envy from the synth pioneers, whether or not they were inspired by them in the first place. In other words this music is being driven, taken to its next stages by these UA-cam artists. It happens in all kinds of music but the evolution of electronica is really sriking: either you do something deliberately vintage or you are fully in the present with an eye toward the future. It's like if Bach could have heard Bill Evans, the synth pioneers must be tripping out on all this new music. This track is the perfect example: where in classic 70s ambient electronica do you find this level of groove, warmth, and subtlety. I may be wrong but I think you just don't.
Just a personal opinion but I think this is the type of sound you create best. Thought provoking, perfect for listening to while travelling - whether that be by car, train, or plane; or simply just by sitting still looking into the flame of a candle and letting the mind drift. Great stuff. Your work with this ingenious piece of kit is only going to get better. I can't wait to see where it takes us.
Andy Powell Agreed. However, I usually use his music to do my own personal “*method*”of chillaxing. I can’t believe Ulimae or Celestial Dragon records have not picked him up. Back to your take on his style, I’ve used it as passenger ride with the seat reclined on holiday once...Good day, good night. ..Liam
The person behind the sonic arpeggios is a wonderful man. We wrote to him to ask him to lend us a piece of this masterpiece as a soundtrack for a video about freedom and he replied: Take what you need!...Thanks so much!
I say this every time. Your the orb. Tangerine dream and Hans zimmer wrapped into one. You should be scoring movies. I can see this in countless scenes.
SERIOUSLY... the quality of ambient music on UA-cam lately is so good. its like someone said 'BEHOLD YOU SHALL BE CHILLED' these live performances all sound better than my albums lol i just read a comment saying some stuff better then TG..i absolutely agree. my brother whom i work with is now becoming a fan of ambience because im playing your stuff every day. and a few others ive found through your comment section. SO ITS A BIG THANKS FROM ME..... this community is small but so enriching.
Yet another special sound very well done,i swear this music is heaven wherever it comes from. Such peace and harmony mankind could never imagine. Sept 2020 🙏❤🙏❤🌈🌎
Love this! So much better than many of the so-called "ambient" tracks people are putting out there. Really glad I found your channel.... it's inspiring, and I get to play along with it. :)
I imagine its so easy to get lost in the maze of sound and reflected emotion, - you probably feel inclined to paint more colour, depth and layers - I guess even though you did a super job, its hard to keep something that is constantly growing and changing in your mind - to a respectable time frame 😊 🙏🙏👍 more like this - its a journey -- ?? why cant I find this tract to add to my list?
The intro reminded me of "Waiting for the Night" by Depeche Mode, except much more "in your face" ... I still want to sing a gentle song with this though ❤🌌🌚
Thanks, Marcos! Yeah some pattern length changes, and Part useage etc..it all got a bit messy later on, hence I cut the track down a bit. I kept forgetting which patterns activate which parts during performance, and a few times tracks came back into the mix very abruptly, but I realise my mistakes and perhaps should have made use of Bank changes to avoid these issues. Actually using Banks instead of Parts might have been better and less confusing for me.
I make a second comment, you see when you put a rhythm behind it transcends your genius, I really encourage you to build songs like this, you could make a very great album like this What I feel: I could ride all night to this music, it's wonderful.
Not really, i'm a complete noob with the Octatrack myself! When you want to do something with it, but not sure how, look up UA-cam videos, this is what I've been doing so far. The manual is too confusing!
Randeezy my advice.....just like making love for the first time...fiddle around and try your best for a bit, then ask what she really needs to make her scream.
Absolutely gorgeous. Loving this one. What do you think of the octatrackt? Thinking on picking up one myself. Used to have a digi then sold it and I think the octatrack would work really well
Thanks, PM. Really liking the OT so far, it feels like a big upgrade to the DT but with a heck of a steep learning curve, depending on how well you knew the DT. Why did you sell your DT?
State Azure thanks for the reply. I found myself with the digitak doing no more than I could do with ableton (except step sequencing, really liked that) so I sold it and got a teenage op-z which although is great I don’t like it being soooo limited with sampling. One other thing I liked in the digi was the filter. The ability to route other synths though the Octa and mangle in real time is what I like and I think would be different than ableton.
Thank you! I have a NDLR, I just don't use it all the time as I like programming my own sequences. The NDLR is great though! I'll definitely use it more in the future.
State Azure You use the Octatrack as sequencer? Update : Just read you played live and playing samples from the OT. What do you think of the OT as a sequencer?
This is great! I've been waiting to get my octatrack and euro integrated and this has me itching to go. I'm hoping to use octatrack midi lfos alongside its audio processing abilities. Just waiting to pick up poly 2!
State Azure I need to put more effort into learning my octatrack. It’ve always picked up other things that are quicker and easier but there’s so much good stuff in the octatrack. Lfo designer is one of many. Performance looping is another!
I’ve shuffled through your music so often and this has played but I never stopped listening long enough to comment on every song. But brother I have listened to your channel for a while and this is awesome like everything else
Thank you, Kenny!
Who would ever know how perfect this piece?
Thank you for creating sounds capable of combining dreams, hope and creation.
Excellent, exactly what I like, and genuinely better than some of the output of Tangerine Dream
Totally agree.
Luke Edwards Thought exactly the same, brilliant track, very enchanting and captivating ❤️

Really wonderful! Maybe you should consider to buy a NDLR, that's a great drone/pad/sequencer/arpeggiator. Made for ambient.
Thank you! I have a NDLR, I just don't use it all the time as I like programming my own sequences. The NDLR is great though! I'll definitely use it more in the future.

Compleley majic
in the blacksmiths workshop I play this every nigh
Are you using a live recording soundscape for that background layer? Gives the track a very organic touch. Love it..
