    Other than a few minor cosmetic differences in the case shape, the RT6 is virtually identical to the Baofeng UV-9R and GT-3WP. As with those, the front panel programming and menu is straight up Baofeng UV-82. Don't know which came first, the Retevis or the Baofengs but they are all the same radio all the way down to the packaging. As for the waterproofing, IP67 level resistance is claimed but don't bet on it. Every review that I have read on the UV-9R or the GT-3WP wherein they did a full submersion, the radio was either bricked or didn't work right afterwards. At best, expect IP54. So a bit of rain shouldn't be a problem. Anything beyond that is expecting too much from a sub $50 radio.

      That is basically the same thing I said in the video, except that I think Wouxun had the menu first. Everyone thinks it is a Baofeng, but Baofeng didn't have those menus first. I might try the water test, that would be interesting

      He wasn't talking about the menu
      We get it. The menu came pre-beofeng. He said a few minor cosmetic differences. No it doesn't look like a UV5R... He said UV-9R or the GT-3WP.
      Its likely only one or two factories chumming all of the brands out of one door

    I own a retevis rt95 mobile and a retevis r9000 d-mobile and they're both very good radios and work great I used the 9000 as a base unit at the house and the RT 95 is actually in a semi truck mounted on top of my CB radio. Currently using them on gmrs and am working on getting my technician license. The RT 95 is hooked up to a Browning nmo mount on the truck as hooked is a is coil quarter wave antenna and seems to work good

    Reminds me of the UV9R. Same belt clip with a similar design. But like you said, A lot of the Chinese radios are universal.

    Can four pieces of this work with the same channel?

    Looks like it was set for vhf and uhf cb between 470-477 MHz and vhf 130-170 MHz
    looking at the speaker grill seems to indicated for police/emergenct responder use where there a set amount of feqs set from the co selling wouxun- baofung clones

    Aaaaaw geez. Is it possible to get one of these CCR’s without a built in flashlight? It seems to be a main staple in their production anymore.

    Can you keep the unit in the charging base if not charging and use it or will that damage the radio or if you leave it in the charging base not charging and turned off will that cause the battery to drain if left in base?

    Is it a waterproof copy of the UV-82?

    • @HamRadio2
      @HamRadio2  4 роки тому

      It isn't a copy. Lots of different companies and manufacturers use this same menu system in their radios
