Butler became a New England legend the minute he made THE single greatest play in SB history. I bought his jersey immediately afterwards and still have it until this day. It’s one of my most prized New England sports possessions. Right up there with my Brady and Moss jerseys.

Well since his career is over and the truth can't hurt his career I will finally speak on this. I am coach Sharpe and was the only coach in the entire school that was willing to let him play football. Your story is wrong from the start. Malcolm was kicked off track team in 9th grade for fighting and the basketball coach parted ways with him soon after. He walked around the high school not playing any sports for 3 years until I came to Vicksburg and put my job on the line if they would let him play. They told me no in 4 different meetings because of Butler character. They assigned me to him and I had a system in place that when he got in trouble the teachers would call me instead of the other coaches because they were looking for a reason to dismiss him again. I was very hard on him because he needed it I would pull his axx out of class if he acted up and make him so do push ups for hours. I was only thing keeping him from falling through cracks. My part in story was wiped away and I never was invited to the parade, any games, and couldn't even get this man to send a signed jersey for kids I mentored. I gave him my last 20 dollars several times so he could eat. When he made the NFL he showed zero gratitude for my sacrifice so needless to say I don't have any intention of talking to him again. Without Coach Sharpe Malcolm Butler story would have died his 9th grade year. He could have been a hall of famer if he only had character and self discipline. I worry how the rest of his life will shape up without football, I pray he keeps it on the rails.

A walk on who never got an overvalued contract. His last pro career was his best. 2020 -you said ups and downs? He had the BEST year of his career. 105 tacks, 5 ints. What made you make these vague statements? It doesn't seem like you looked at the numbers... and the last question "was he a bust" even asking that of a walk on seems bizarre.
