THAT IS TRUE, HOWEVER SHE WAS NOT THE FIRST BLACK WOMAN. THE FIRST WAS LT.PEREZ WHO GOTTEN KILLED IN THE GOLF WAR BETWEEN 2005 OR 2006 AND SHE WAR ARMY.
@@theodorebaker5483 She was the first African American woman to be given the title of First Captain of the Corps of Cadets. congratulation from a air force veteran. i also noticed at 2:32 in the picture is someone i flew with way back when she was a Captain and a pilot. The lady on the far left is USAF Lt. General Stayce Harris.
So proud of her keep up the good work I'm retired from the Army with Leaders like her I know the Army will be in good hands, besides she has my Last Name, may God continue to bless her.
bing bong did they add points to her test and curve her scores because she is black? did they add any pushups or decrease time from her run? did she make it through the academy bc of her race? if anything she had to deal with adversity and worked her very hardest to be the best cadet. this annoys me so much bc it totally dismisses her merit bc u assume that she needed to be a minority female for what she’s worked for.
Simone is such an amazing and wonderful Cadets First Captain, Rhodes Scholar, role model etc... She will most definitely go very far in her life if she continues doing the great things that she is currently doing !!!! I am so very proud of what Simone has achieved/accomplished so far !!!! Keep on keepin' on !!!! 😊😊😊😊
She is incredibly young to be a captain in my opinion, however, she was chosen for a reason and the military doesn't really mess around with identity politics so I assume she is fit for the role. On top of that, she seems like a very capable young soldier and obviously sees herself as a military person rather than "the first black woman to be a captain" that everyone wants to label her as.
I Love Lamp - she wasn’t a young captain in this story, in the system of Army ranks. She was “Cadet First Captain,” which is a cadet position at West Point - essentially the highest ranking cadet. The very second that she graduated, she dropped that position and took her place as a 2nd Lt in the U. S. Army.
This is sickening and Trump wants many women to be promoted to Generals. It's all against the Bible. Only men should be in the military. But then Trump is not very biblical, his spiritual leader is a woman Pastor which is totally against the Bible. And Paula White is a false teacher anyhow.
Bobby Robby trump didn’t have a god damn thing to do with this lady’s achievement and appointment ... and of course you are a very insecure individual anyway !!
People like this fine person is what keeps me thinking the human race has a chance to, not only survive but to grow and get closer to our true potential!

I just saw this. Simone is everything you would want a daughter to be, a good person with values, outstanding leadership skills, intelligent, kind and the list goes on. The army is very fortunate to have her. This interview will do nothing but encourage girls to be like Simone. A very belated Congratulations!! :). :)
Wow. Thank you for your service to this great country. Same selfless service ideas as Jesus! There is no stopping this young lady. God Bless her. She is a true leader - love her not focusing on her race because no one sees that just a truly great leader.
Whether they be black, female or whatever label people give them all of these cadets have leadership potential and that potential is unmatched as long as they believe in themselves, and always stay loyal and true to the USA! Yes good for them in America. As I see in this video, the First Capt was then wearing an eye glass when she entered the academy. In the Philippines if you are using a graded eye glass you can not enter the Philippine Military Academy, Philippine National Police academy, AFPOCS and other service schools.
God Bless this young cadet. "My focus is to be the best First Captain". That says it all.
I just went to her graduation yesterday and watching her take charge is truly inspiring. Congrats to class of 2018
