OMG, I download the book: Relación acerca de Las antigüedades de los indios that you advised and saved it to my drive. I am so excited!! I am a fan of Ricardo Alegría que descanse en paz and I have the opportunity to meet him in my college years. Thanks for providing taíno language revival. I always was interested but not sure where to start or get other ways to study it. I learned other languages too like Hebrew, recently started with Russian and Romanian.

Jajóm for writing. I'm so glad you downloaded the book.🥰 I definitely recommend reading the editor's notes. He makes tons of corrections to the original words.
Oh, wow, you have an amazing language repertoire! Your background in a variety of languages definitely helps when learning a reconstructed language.
Have you seen the interview with Javier Hernández, who created the "Primario Básico" book? He also studies many languages. I think you'll enjoy it.

@@luzrivera1353 Tau Luz👋 Javier Hernández wrote the Primario Básico book that most of our language lessons are based on. It's a wonderful Taíno language resource with easy-to-follow and use grammar. I hope you enjoy the interview! Check out our language lessons and let me know if there's anything you'd want us to cover. Bo-guatukán! (Many blessings!) 💜

Jajóm (thank you) for comment and for sharing your vulnerability with us. You are the embodiment of all of your ancestors (our ancestors). It is your right to honor them as you feel you should, as you are being guided to. Creativity is one of the ways in which our ancestors speak to us. If you feel like creating a special amulet or working with a Taíno artisan to create one and then wearing it in their honor, then that is important for you and the ancestors. It's a beautiful way of remembering them, and it could lead to amazing conversation with folks who inquire about the piece and learn about the Taíno culture.
If you're interested in supporting Taíno artisans in Borikén, check out this list from Reencuentro Taíno Conference: www.tainoconference.org/local-artisans
You can also find Taíno-inspired pieces (based on my own research on traditional Taíno jewelry) at our Etsy store: www.etsy.com/shop/casaareyto
      I hope this helps! 💜

    Seriously speaking!
    I have a question 🙋🏻
First of all I have commented here before, and I’m from Borikén and from the Taíno capital of Borikén “Jayuya”
    My question is!
    What do you think 🤔
    The word “Guatibirí” means?

    • @CasaAreyto
      @CasaAreyto  2 роки тому +1

Tau, guaitiáo 👋 Glad to hear from you Willy. "guatibirí" is the name of the common "pitirre" (i.e. gray kingbird). You can find out about it here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gray_kingbird Jajóm for the question. 💜

@@CasaAreyto Tau! And thank you for the quick response guaitiáo.
But I was asking what it really mean…I know that the word “Guatibirí”
Is the Taíno name for the “Pitirre” but I was asking if you knew what it really meant.
I guess I didn’t ask the right way so I apologize.
So I’m just going to explain why the ancestors called the
      “ Pitirre” “Guatibirí”
If you grew up in Borikén you might have heard the expression
      “Cada Guaraguao tiene su Pitirre”
Lot of Boricuas use this expression but don’t know what it means.
Só I’ll make this story short.
The ancestors thought of the Pitirre as “The small but great and Brave spirit of Life”
because of the way that the Pitirre would attack the Guaraguao when it came to close to its nest or it’s young.
I hope yo did fall a sleep reading this book I just wrote! 🤗🤣😂🤙🏽

      @CasaAreyto  2 роки тому +1

@@willysoto8781 Oh, apologies, I misunderstood the question. 😇 Based on the word parts and what you mention about our oral traditions, I think we can decode most of the word.
      gua - our; it is
      bi - small
      ri - brave
*I haven't come across the meaning of "ti" just yet, but I will continue looking for it.
So in general terms, our Taíno ancestors were referring to a bird that is small but brave. I love it! 🥰

      @@CasaAreyto taiguey guaitiao!
      Just for thoughts 💭
      In this case the “tí”
represent “Size,Greatnesses,Strength or even Might” as in “Mighty Thing”
