My ministry of 25 years ended similarly. When I quit believing, I focused on building 200 homes, food banks, etc. I didn’t want to hurt anyone, and left quietly. My wife stayed with me, and is still active in church. Our 3 daughters are atheist. Today is our 35th anniversary.
So many interesting points. Religious people do themselves damage trying to constrain their life to a particular doctrine. In the long term it doesn't work and something cracks.
