That was such a crock. The panel didn't give one good answer and neither did the audience that gave those stupid answers. What about "The San Francisco Treat"? "The San Francisco Giants"? "The San Francisco 49er's"? Come on! The San Francisco Bay and Bay Bridge? I call bullshit. Their audience polls are as skewed as political polls.
The cast of M*A*S*H didn't much care for him either. They called him "The Bulldog" and were happy to see him go. He's a lot like Brett Somers, a very abrasive person that tries too hard to be funny.

The object of the celebrities is to match the contestants and vice versa. But these people's egos are so gimungous they need to get the big laughs, fuck the contestant.
I realize that this was a totally different long ago era...however, Gene's "tradition" of greeting new female celebrity panelists by taking out his Binaca breath spray and kissing them on the lips comes across as disrespectful at best, assaultive at worst. I wonder how many of those women went along with the "tradition" but inside their minds they were really uncomfortable, even disgusted? And Gene's wife, I wonder how she felt about it.

This was one of the best gameshows, adored Gene Rayburn, and the energy of the group was special.

Gene seems slurry and buzzed here. I loved this show. I remember watching these with my mother in the 70's. They were all so friggin' crazy and funny!

Oh yes and enjoyed it immensely, the Stars had such a quick witt. Richard Dawson was particularly stellar.
It was the #1 show for like 3 years. Every people used to watch this!

Gene's wife was married to Gene for 56 years. I'm sure she was fine with his schtick - it paid the bills!
The women contestants almost always kissed Richard too. Sexism goes both ways.
