Jeff, hills are great for movement, as my property is all hill, and rather steep. Great for movement, but there definitely are pros and cons to having a steep property.

Buck bedding is tough to find here in the mountains of Harlan Ky due to so much rough terrain and they don’t always bed in the same spots here! Having your own farm with perfect food and water set ups is 1000 times easier than hunting the rough mountains of south eastern Ky! Come here anytime during deer season and see how good all professional deer hunters do.

The cool thing it always boils down to food 😉 on public land you hunt the food source of the moment and you can change locations if needed. On private land you have to do it right...or you spook all of the deer off and ruin the land for the season. Unless you are in a fantasy land state. Most public land hunters have tough times on private land once they start adding habitat improvements...most private land hunters have a tough time on public...especially private land fantasy land state hunters...because they don't have their food plots to sit over.

Not sure if you have this video already, but a 'how to' video on scouting a buck for opening day would be helpful/interesting. Thank you for the great content and effort.

Is there a certain Miles Per Hour that the wind will blow that uphill thermals won’t work in your favor to hunt?

You says hills define movement. How do deer typically move up hills? I have 2 decent hills between my food plot and where the deer bed. I am not sure how they move to the plot.

Just watched the episode and always great material. I hope your even went well and wish I could have contributed. I again was wondering your thoughts on rutting activity in regards to trending warmer weather. I live in NY near the Canadian border. Favorable weather for fawning comes earlier now then 20/30 years ago. Maybe this is why I seem to notice earlier and earlier pre-rut and rutting activity. Thanks again for the excellent content.

It was awesome to be out there with you and get hands on strategy advice so, again, thank you. Off topic question: what's your opinion on ironwood trees as they relate to wildlife/ deer habitat?

I’m hunting two small private parcels that are mine butted up against Blanton Forest which is protected and can’t hunt on it but it’s super rough terrain anyways! But there’s a ton of public spots with not too much hunting pressure, new and old log Roads and strip jobs where there’s a field planted with food for the wild horses that live here, and the deer benefit during the summer but they hit mostly acorns cause there abundance. They have blackberry bushes, wild strawberries right now while their growing the velvet antlers back! They’ll be transferring to briar tips and small maple. Even knowing a deers pattern here during the season they may disappear from the smallest mistake around here the rest of your season could be over. People who think they could come here and kill a deer first try I’d love to see it!

Jeff's holding plots are definitely a powerhouse in his area. IF he happens to drop in he can correct me but I believe he hunts under 25% of his plots (if you'd want to consider them kill plots)...cue @Whitetail Habitat Solutions

If your afternoon stand/blind is close to your property line and neighbors AG and you bump deer on that AG at night exiting your setup, is that a potential problem for deer/bucks returning to your property the following morning and bedding?
