    At home we only use real power or active power. The company does not charge for reactive power for house. It only charges for real power. Only industries use reactive power more so they have to pay surcharges for reactive power and add capacitor banks for power factor correction. So why to worry about that if the power distribution company did not charge for. Please answer me if u have doubts please reply.

      @@NiketShahPlus Most non-inductive appliances (without big motors) have a pretty close to unity power factor (little reactive power). Remember that “reactive power” isn’t consumed by the load, it passes the current back and forth to the power grid, causing some additional transmission losses. Residential customers usually only pay for the power they consume and aren’t penalized for additional current supplied that’s just passed back to them. Large commercial customers, however, are often penalized for having bad power factors, as it raises costs for the supplier to provide that additional current.

      यदि आपके घर पर पावर फैक्टर (Power Factor, PF) 0.82 है, तो इसे सुधारने के लिए आपको कैपेसिटर का उपयोग करना पड़ सकता है। पावर फैक्टर सुधारने से बिजली की खपत कम होती है और बिजली के उपकरणों की दक्षता बढ़ती है।
