But I've conducted 100+ traffic stops in my time and only had to pull my weapon a few times due to the situation. There are over 50 million police interactions in the US every year. On average, there are under 10 unjustified deaths due to police negligence. While in a perfect world, that number would be zero, thats unfortunately not how life works. That being said, 10 out of 50 million is a pretty good number. A vehicle with no plates and no taillights runs from a traffic stop and the officer calmly says it's not worth chasing. WTF? The driver committed a felony right before your eyes!

Criminals get stupid when they are being chased. If they chased him and he got into a fatal accident with some innocent motorist, blacked out and driving at 110, you or someone else would be complaining about that too. Better to let him go and try to box him in when more vehicles are available. It's not like he was driving an inconspicuous vehicle that would blend in at that time of night.
Too many lawsuits, including ones filed by the perps after they crash. Cities have decided to let suspects get away rather than having to face civil damages. Except Arkansas. They will PIT you at 120 mph 😅
