Jaipur V2 has been my favorite, non-vintage, flex since I bought it nearly 2 years ago. Controllable and the flow works nearly perfectly for me. My husband even bought me a Magna Carta Mag600 last Christmas, but it was such a big pen, with a very soft, big flex nib, that I ended up having more trouble controlling it. Mind you, I don't do serious calligraphy, so mileage may vary. Have fun with it!!
That's good to know Kristi that the FPR nib is standing the test of time in the flex dept. Mmmmh!!! I've read that the flex on the Magna is not as, mmmh.....reliable as the FPR Ultra Flex which is why I wanted to try it. Plus the price point fit better in my budget at the mo.
Beautiful pens Grace. I love that they have a white crackle which would save me dropping £200 on the Esterbrook winter white. 😅 The ultra flex is interesting. I think you have to be deliberate and use cursive to get the most out of it.
Hey now....that's not a bad solution to saving $150 on that Esterbrook. Btw, I disagree with using the flex nib pen only for cursive. With every downstroke even while printing your words you can get that flex. It is def a slower writing experience and prolly not meant for everyday, regular notetaking writing to get the flex. Plus, I don't always write in cursive and it writes well enough I feel.
I recently picked up a Rialto with an architect nib and OMG. O.M.G. I am obsessed with it. I cannot put it down. I also bought an architect nib unit which I put on an estie and it is gorgeous. So smooth and enjoyable to write with.
Oooh, now you have me thinking. Had planned to get another FPR pen soon and, with your rec, the Rialto is now on my radar to check out, including with an architect nib. Thank you! ☺️
Ohhh that Jaipur V2 is stunning! ❄️ I thought of the Jinhao 100 as soon as I saw it. I love using my lightest inks with my ultra flex nibs. They put down so much ink that they're actually legible.
Isn't it tho! I thought about doing that too, using flex for those golden yellow but instead now use either a Broad or Stub nib cause still don't like the fine line the nib makes when not flexing.
I have a Himalaya 1 and a Himalaya 2. I had a Quick Draw, but it developed problems and I gave it to my son for parts. FYI- With the screw-in converters, I have had some leakage, but a little silicone grease takes care of it right away.
No worries on timing, glad you enjoyed it. Faking the like is not a thing I do so will be always honest with my reviews. There is one pen I was very disappointed with (video was earlier this year) but am determined to "fix" it's issue. Liked these FPR pens so much I ordered a couple more 😆 Yikes.
Excellent review Grace, thanks. My FPR ultra flex was too wet to write with, but an easy fix. Now I love using it. Love your writing and I’m very jealous.
Thank You! Thank you for watching and I'm glad you found a fix for your ultra flex. That nib is def a wet one. Loved these two pens so much, I just ordered 2 more. 😬 🤷🏽♀️
I received two similar pens, as in colors yesterday! I think the light blues and teals are beautiful for the winter season! Mine are from Jinhao and Asvine. And I finally ordered a Jinhao 100! In green marble! Beautiful! Yes, that’s two pens in the mail in two days! Opps! How did that happen?
Have you seen my Flexploration series on my channel. FPR was the first thing I did in the series. I think they are the best budget entry to flex nib pool. There is a very large jump between these options and the next options like pilot FA, Stylosuite, regalia writing labs crossflex, Scribo. Also, I have heard, and it's been my experience that the all stainless version is ultra-flex is flexier than the 2 tone. What do you think??
I have not your vid yet but it's been on my watch list to take a gander at. The large jump between price points is why I'm starting out with FPR flex and am so glad I didn't get put off and not get it. I'll cross that bridge to the other, pricier flex nibs I'm sure. And I'd not heard that about the SS being flexier that the 2-toned nib. Mmmhh... Now I'm gonna have to order one to test that theory out. (btw, just so you know, the visual as I was typing the word "flexier" is the nib gyrating on the paper to a Barry White song 😳. Don't ask me why. The only explanation I have is....sometimes the brain is just gonna brain 🤷🏽♀️)
I have a class on my youtube playlist called introduction to calligraphy and also fountain pen calligraphy 101 check those out if you are interested in learning how to use your new FPR to do calligraphy with :)
It def does read same vibe as Jinhao 100. I use my stub nib with golden yellows so it puts los of ink down for me to read what I wrote. That's the challenge isn't it? Reading the darn words. And if you're writing fast with those light inks and a small nib then watch out 🤣 Why I prolly shy away from too light inks still today. These eyes of mine cannot read what I actually wrote and I find that most hilarious! 🤣

Nice Nancy! Which FPR pens do you have?

@@nancymckeand473 Yeh, I've heard that about their screw-in converters altho with other pens that have them I've had no issues. Mmmmh.....

Surprised with all that shaking no ink came out... mine drips ink like no tomorrow
What can I say...each pen and nib does it's own thing in the end. 🤷🏽♀️
