I've been to a third of the countries on the planet and without and doubt or hesitation I would say that Filipinos are the happiest culture that there is. Nice place, and a great views.
I like it when you talk a lot about positive things & only few negative things. That rent is VERY cheap! I saw rubbishes in a very well known , very developed city in the World. Im glad you like PH. Thank you 🙏
That's a beautiful house, great spot too. He did a great job upgrading it. Would he mind sharing that trustworthy, reliable, competent guy's info? Guys like that are so hard to find.
I can resonate with him. Home is where your heart is. I was born and raised in the Phils but lived in the UK longer than I have in the Phils. I also lived in Spain and Germany. I am ME....not a Filipino or British. I still have the Filipino in me in terms of being friendly, hospitable, kind, cheerful, caring....among other things, but then those traits are human traits anywhere in the world. It's just more ingrained or noticeable with Filipinos, in my opinion.😊
Try to visit our place in Iloilo City you gonna amaze the spirit of people here vesy accomodating and free wifi in cafe house .You gonna love our place so much.
It's good to know that he feels comfortable living in our beloved country Philippines. Welcome to our country, I hope you enjoy staying here. Just be careful and don't trust too much. Sometimes people take advantage of you when you are too nice to them. In every country there's bad and good people. You seems very honest and good man and very respectful. Just be careful and take care always. Wish I have the chance to visit your place one day, I love the surroundings with so much plants around.
Agreed on the time frustration he mentioned. Get so frustrated waiting in line at a store which has 1 cashier working while 6 other staff loiter and chat by the entrance.
This was a great interview and a great video. The clip where the filipina was chasing the spider out of the house then letting it crawl on her arm creeped me out! I was screaming kill it, kill it! while she was trying to scoop it up in the house. I too like the outside insects to remain outside. Lol. Thank you for sharing.....
Thats good you choose philippines is second home because here in the philippines you can do anything like in some places you cannot do anything you want, and philippines nice persons .
Except from 2020 to 2022 you could not even go outside your house, especially if senior citizen. Remember Asian countries are authoritarian and the government has absolute authority. This will come back again. Mark my word.
You have mentioned about the wifi i suggest get a star link. I lived in an island in rhe philippines and the connection is awesome. Monthly payment around 50 dollars but you have to pay for the equipment which is less than 300 dollars but it is worthy.
I can relate to your experiences. You hire builders in the Philippines and they demand high hourly rate but then i had to hire workers now to redo their jobs. Waste of time, money and materials. They even steal paints, transferred to a small mineral water bottle and tools I bought including vegetables planted in my land. Makarma sana!! Sad!!
He got lucky in finding a Landlord willing to work with him in getting a Large house in that area for $500 as he then turns around and rents it out AirBnB for $100 a night as he could easily stay in a Nice hotel downtown and only pay $25 or rent it for less then a week and that pays his expenses so if he rents it more then that he travels for free.
@Alexkosh -- Historically, countries that have 4 seasons with short days and harsh winters, the people tend to have "hunter gatherer" type mentality. Chores that need to be done before the winter sets in, are done in a timely manner, because their survival depends on it. In the Philippines and other countries that don't have harsh winters, time management is much more lax. In fact, because excess heat can cause illness, the people conserve their energy or risk getting sick. Of course, now-a- days we can buy supplies out of season in an emergency, but it takes more money to do that. And not everyone can afford to live that way, all the time.
Nice interview, genuine guy. They only non-positive thing is short sided - live for now thing. That works until the "tomorrow" shows up. I seeing a lot more younger guys showing up on these channels. I understand work, jobs, bosses, time lost to work, sucks. They are forgetting, or choosing to ignore, the fact that your key earning years are that 30s to 60s. You are valued, you make bank. I see dudes in their late 50s and 60s now that are having to go back to full time real job work and it SUCKS. They can't get in at the level they were and certainly not at the level they would be had they stayed in the game. They are now getting pennies on the dollar for what they would have got had they trudged through a few more years.
Sometimes it's hard to quantify what it all means. I have run my own business for decades working long hours (52 now). For 5 years from 2017-2022 I did 85 hour work weeks and made great money...paid off my house, have no other debt, and big $ in savings. The result was alienating my wife of 23 years and my children...so now I am freshly divorced (losing half the big house I paid 100% of) and none of my 5 kids talk to me anymore. Everything I did was for 'tomorrow', but somehow lost focus of 'today' and it cost me all that truly mattered.
LOL! $5,000 USD is about 3 months rent in the US without the resort-like living standards that he's experiencing in the Philippines. I'd gladly spend more than that if I could live a comfortable life in a beachfront property in paradise.
Malibu, Huntington & Newport beach is now very expensive if the rental property is near the beach. High speed wifi is available in BGC in metro Manila and IT park and business park in Cebu City.
I can't commit to retiring and living in the Philippines until after 2028 or so, as they will return to those insane lockdowns again interim and perhaps mandatory needles. Lived in Philippines from 1990 to 2020. Just returned from a 1 month visit to Dipolog and Dumaguete areas. Had visited Dumaguete and Siquijor many times since 1991 back when there were no hotels, no vehicles and not even any electricity on the entire Siquijor island.
This is extraordinary. The gentleman featured in your video has the exact setup that I have been searching for. I am an American in search of a higher end, private, unfurnished waterfront home for long-term rent where I can sublet it via AirBNB when I travel (3 months+ a year). If there is anyway for me to contact him, it would be greatly appreciated as I would love to pick his brain. Thanks. -Doug
i wonder if inefficiency and waiting in queues is more common in the Visayas than in Luzon. i don't like wasting time but i don't often feel that frustrated up here in NCR or in Northern Luzon
I'm a Filipino who's been in the US over 40 years and when I vacationed, I actually find it more expensive in Dumaguete to fill my gas tank. The electricity there is also more expensive than here in the US. Yes, the Filipino food is cheaper there but the American foods there are way overpriced. As always, service everywhere is very slow and the slowest is processing papers with the government sectors like making changes on birth certificates.. I went to different beaches (Dumahuete, Cebu, Palawan) and also sad to see that some tourists like Koreans just leave their garbage (including their baby's diaper) on the table and expect Filipino waiters to clean after them. I know that Western foreigners will not do that as they are more aware of the environment and have more respect to people. The Filipinos too, should really learn on how to keep their environment clean.
Thank you for your additional information. Yes littering is a problem all over the world. And it's especially painful to see it around such a beautiful nature
I agree with your comment. Neg Or is my home island too but I've been here in Australia for 14 years. It's very sad to see all the litters on the streets in the Philippines. I wish people will learn how to dispose their garbage properly.
How much is the monthly rental that he is paying to the Canadian landlord? Good that the landlord allowed him to sublease this house? I am curious to know how much is the monthly rental of this house if rented through AirBNB. I might be interested to rent it when I go back to Dumaguete for my next holiday.
All your questions he answered in the video. The initial deal was $500 per month and he made renovations of the whole house. Availability and price you can check using link from the description
Because Filipinos are accustomed to a difficult life, one could argue that they are mentally tough. When compared to other races, Filipinos are incredibly patient. Have you ever seen a race that is troubled yet still manages to smile? The country's development may be impacted by the relaxed nature of Filipino culture, but ultimately, Filipinos lead the world in fortifying their will. That's why in the USA there are many people who commit suicide because the pace of life is so fast, and things are so expensive that they are almost chasing life. They appear to be very mature. They appear extremely mature, even though they are just in their late 20s or early 30s. Lord truly is an expert at striking a balance.
I like your beautiful rest house. Maybe I can apply for vacation. Why not buy also a house in Manila or in Quezon City where I can refer to you my Aunt best friend sell a house and lot in Cainta. I appreciate your hard work you spent and grew in Israel and in the US. By the way, do you have your own Family like sons and daughters.
Ok....a few things. I can't imagine this guy would be a real digital nomad because if he was and he had to rely on working online for his income he wouldn't live where he's living because internet is horrible out there. It's spotty and when it rains the internet may go out and the power in goes out not to mention the fact that the Philippines is getting a lot more expensive but these are things nobody seems to mention
He just shared his story; he wasn't trying to prove anything. He doesn't have problems with the internet there. Only one time in a half year, since he had this apartment, there wasn't a connection. It's true that there could be power outages, and for that case, he has a portable power source (cost for $50) to plug in the router. Starlink is available in the Philippines, which can solve all issues, even in remote places. And you're right that the Philippines is getting more expensive, as are other countries like the US and EU.
You my enjoy things becuse it's all cheap as you think, but remember, you are living in a Countryside, in rural area. Maybe you should try spend sometime in a big city like Manila ,Cebu etc, and try to rent as much as big house where you are now. Its a diffrent thing.
Hahah He almost choked on water when you asked him if he will build a house there. One thing I'm curious about is if there is so little stress there, do the people have less chronic disease? I wander how stress relates to getting an illness.
It is not less stress for locals. Only foreigners who have enough retirement money and stay out the drama. For the rest, it is pretty much like anywhere else. In big cities like Manila, poor people stress about daily living, rich people stress about more money and more power. In small cities and particularly rural areas, yes there is less stress, but as I said u guess that's the case for most rural areas around the world.
Renting in the phil’s can be very troublesome, it’s just not the same as the west with tenanted rights and the standard of housing is really poor generally. The attitude referenced about the owner …”why do that .” This is one reason why I’m going to build so I can build to western standards. Good luck to the guy.
🌴🌴< < < VERY INTERESTING STORY ALEX. THANKS FOR SHARING. HOPE YOU AND GEN ARE DOING WELL. LOOKING FORWARD TO YOUR NEXT VIDEO. TAKE CARE MY FRIEND. > > > 🌴🌴
Thank you for your feedback. In the context of buying a nice house or the house you might like, of course, you can't do it. But for local people in the province, it's possible to buy a native house.
You’re comparing apples to oranges, you are in the province, try to go to BGC ,Makati or even Metro Cebu. BGC is nicer than Sta. Clarita and LA. And Russia, I was pickpocketed by people who were in a hurry in a major tourist area. I would rather be in the Philippines than in Russia or Israel.
Currently making 6 figures and my wife finds a way to spend all of it., mostly on things we do not need. We live paycheck to paycheck and I’m absolutely sick of it. Moving abroad after retirement is looking like a dream.
Sorry about that. Tell your wife to work and not spend your money. Everybody in the US works. Most Filipinas likes to depend, which is bad part of the culture and that should change.
Six figures as in 100k is becoming minimum wage is some metropolis, the cost of living is so high. But it helps if the two of you agree on a budget. Otherwise maybe convince her to invest in an asset, like a house with a mortgage then when you get paid, there will be something urgent to do with the money, ie paying down that mortgage. And maybe over max up on those retirement funds,.ie the point being to reduce 'disposable income' cause it is easy or tempting to spend when one has cash sitting around
Excuse me! It was not in our culture to throw garbage ever where... That's why you live here because you mesmerized the natural beauty of my country 🇵🇭
@@Alex_Kosh that"s right...and as filipino i really appreciate that you are with us helping our own environment maintaining its clean also because of some rude and stupid foreign guest doesn't know how to throw their garbage properly while they are in resort.
@@itsmej.c724 thank you for your support. I believe that there are good and bad people everywhere in every country. And at the end of the day we live on the one planet, we are all neighbors and all connected
Im Filipino some of my countrymen just throw snd leave garbage everywhere. I know I did it when I was younger. Education and knowledge of the environment has helped me. Also the local government should invest in garbage management and provide more garbage containers in public areas. It should also be taught in the elementary education up to 12 grade about environmental protection and nature.

I agree with you
You’re comparing apples to oranges, you are in the province, try to go to BGC ,Makati or even Metro Cebu.
I'm sorry to hear that. It must be tough to see when your time, energy and efforts are wasted.
My Son has same as you do. Moving abroad will not change spending habits!
Tell your wife you got a good deal on a nipa hut in the mountains in the Philippines, and get ready to move.
Living Large i see, Enjoy

Excuse me! It was not in our culture to throw garbage ever where... That's why you live here because you mesmerized the natural beauty of my country 🇵🇭
Good to know, I hope we can solve this problem together

I may have missed it somewhere along the video, does he say that he only rents the third floor not the entire home?
Also, what’s his monthly rent? What does he have to pay the landlord monthly?
He rents the whole place from the landlord for USD500 a month but lives in the third floor only.
❤❤❤❤your cute
He is👍
