You sir are a legend, the first solution worked. For those of you without sound, make sure the box is unchecked before uninstalling👍🏻. After uninstalling windows will automatically reinstall, after restarting your device. That worked perfectly for me!

In my opinion, first check PHYSICAL connections such as power cord, connectivity, etc and then plug in Headphones to see if sound works with Headphone plugged into jack that way we know if it's a jack port related issue, etc. Same thing goes for windows, I don't just reformat/reset things until I check for underlying issues. Just my 2 cents. Thanks
Thanks a lot brother it helps me When I was trying to update the driver it said that the device wasn't working. This how I fixed this problem 1. Device manager 2. Delete audio driver ( high defenition audio) 3. Restart pc 4. Reinstall driver BTW game booster 4.3 is a software that can help you to update your driver its free it also helps you to boost fps in games.

omg thannkss i fixed the issue by downloading a new driver for sound dirrectly from hp website.. and selecting speaker instead of headphone as output.
