My favorite thing to do with photos or prints is to put them in a frame, but to also stick 4-5 more behind it and then rotate them when I get bored with what's in the frame. My husband and I have some big art pieces that we switch out for the seasons - no need to pack anything away, just move the new print to the front of the frame and hang it back up! Then you also don't have to buy multiple frames.

I hung up new curtains in my room while watching this and it was an extremely lovely experience. I have felt negative amounts of inspiration for gift giving this year, but this sort of ignited some ideas for me. My signature gift for years has been baked goods (fudge, brownies, cookies, cake). HIGHLY recommend, it is always happily received by folks!

Giving me homemade gifts is like the best way to ensure I cry happy tears and keep it forever - I love nothing more than filling my home with things that are made with love 🥰

Most of my close family have specific things they want for Christmas, but I love how many creative ideas this sparks for my close friends! Like I always love getting the little, homemade or creative gifts.

I had that paint tube map in my room growing up. I'm from Canada but my mom got in on a trip to London before I was born and the colours matched my childhood room.

These were all excellent, I especially love how you talked about tarot! I always half jokingly tell people I think of it as an elaborate magic eight ball, the cards are external symbols you assign meaning to that can help sort out your thoughts.

I did a fun craft with my friend, we filled a few wooden coaster that has a curve on it with wax and put some fragrance oil and dried flowers, I think it's perfect for christmas present because we can attach a ribbon on the back of the coaster and hang it in christmas tree.

Oh this was a truly lovely video! I was feeling so daunted by the idea of giftgiving this year, and i was putting it off, but i think i will start planning for it right now because of this video, and thats gonna take off so much of the anxiety! One thing i already have planned, in the spirit of gifting your own art, is an embroidered bookmark for my dear friend. Also also also, when at the end you said you were gonna massage your jaw, it made me realize my own jaw was very tight, and i gave it a little massage too, so thanks for that as well!

I also recommend fountain pens and ink! I think the UK has more independent shops for these sorts of things than the US does.

This is a wonderful list and perfect timing. I often default to gifting books because I thought of the person while reading it but I'm trying to be a better gift giver! I take so many photos this video might be the push I need to print and actually give them to friends!

So many wonderful ideas! This year I have taken up knitting so I am doing several knit projects, as well as some sewing! One of my favorite gifts ever was a set of handmade cards from my best friend with a handmade stamp of a local mountain. They are delightful!

I taught myself to crochet this year, so I've been making my family little crochet gifts for Christmas. I've challenged myself to make the gifts I give my family and close friends. I've always wanted to do that, and I felt like it is a good year time-wise to do it. So far it is going pretty well.... Also, that moon lamp is beautiful and I am tempted to go and order one!

I'm currently making some DIY gifts for my best friend, earrings and embroidery... everytime I am making something I always feel a little nervous, but everytime everyone I give something they say lovely things. This year (and lately) is being really hard, so making something with my hands has helped me calm down and feel a little more connected with my loved ones.

Something to make giving handmade presents less daunting is making it small and/or usefull. Even if someone doesn’t love your art enough to hang on their wall, they would probably still really appreciate it on a notebook.
My brother probably wouldn’t love it if I crochet him something that really changes his room, but he really liked the small duck I made for the rubber duck collection and even learned to crochet to make another one!

I have recently started giving soap / other nice things from Lush as gifts. It's nice cos everyone uses soap, its just adding a bit of special to it, and since it is consumable it doesn't contribute to clutter.

I started doing embroidery recently, just with templates at first. But after practicing a bit I'm making an embroidery hoop for my best friend customized with something that relates to our friendship and a shared interest. I think it's a wonderful gift idea because it requires thought/effort, and is also therapeutic and relaxing while making.

JetPens is another stationery store I'm a fan of. They have a lot of Japanese/Korean stationary but also just a lot of variety of things. They have a lot of great guides and best-of lists. Sometimes I'll go on there when I'm feeling down and look at all the pretty things. For some reason that calms me.
Also, I have such a problem trying to think of presents outside of books, especially for people that don't read as much, so this was really helpful!

I'm super fortunate and was able to keep my job this year so my family is getting donations made in their names to local charity where they live for the holidays. I'm in the US and we don't share the wealth very well as a culture, so my hope is that this helps a bit. Bonus is that it's also Covid safe, with zero postage, and can do it all on line.

This year I'm giving someone tea inspired by their favourite author, alongside a tea strainer (also inspired by the author) which I found on Etsy. I'm also really excited about the postbox gift sets that seem to be popping up everywhere. In the past I'd curate a box for someone from little things I'd find throughout the year while shopping, but this year I haven't been able to go to shops so pre-curated gift sets that can be sent straight to the receiver (and fit through a letter box) takes away the stress.

Yesterday I met up with my sisters in a park and we did a little photoshoot, and today I'm going to pick up the prints of some of those pictures, which will be my birthday gift for my mom tomorrow, and next week a mug with one of the pictures will arrive, which will be my christmas gift for my mom :)

My plan for my friend's birthday is to buy indie video games, both great ones and cheap weird looking ones, because they can enjoy it safely and instantly across this divide and there's a lot of personality in them. I think if I buy them from Humble, the money even goes to charity!

had to pause halfway to check Lex's instagram to see what pronouns they use. I'm non-binary, so it just makes me feel so seen and grateful when people who have a public following are out 🏳️‍🌈. Feel a little bit braver from the bravery of others.

My one rule for gifts is they have to be a shape that is easy for me to wrap otherwise it quickly turns into a disaster.
