I appreciate this type of video and I love seeing what's inside, how something works and what makes it good (or bad). One big reason I got into cars in the first place.
What do you think about Mobil 1 vs purolator filters ? (I use full synthetic Mobil 1 oil currently and change every 5k miles) The purolator one (blue can) which Walmart doesn’t sell anymore is similar price to Mobil 1 filters at Walmart. Even on Amazon the purolator tech is 9$ and some change so debating between purolator one blue can priced at roughly 11$ and Mobil one at 11.50$ or go all out and get the purolator boss at 15$. just wondering your opinion, thanks. I know it’s my money and my truck etc but doesn’t hurt to hear your honest opinion if you think 5$ more for the best of the best filter is better option or just stick with the 11$ ones.
I've not taken apart a Mobil filter yet, but have seen pics inside. From the pics, I don't think either one is a bad filter. I do know the Purolator One is a very fine piece, and I wouldn't hesitate to use one. Of the filters that Walmart currently sells, it is my opinion that the Mobil is the best filter there.
Fram is made by Champion Labs. Super tech and others are, too. They all generally have the plastic bypass valve in the leaf spring. At the end of the day if you change your oil every 3 or 4 thousand miles these are sufficient and will give acceptable service.
Glad to see. I bought a case of the Purolator Tech filters for my Hondas. They do the job and will easily last 5K miles.
I like them a lot! Good choice.
Wow, some real surprises in here. The Motorcraft change is still infuriating. Great video, thanks for putting this together!
Thank you Sleazy! I agree with you!
Did that Purolater have a bypass valve?
Yes... it was identical to the "Auto Extra".

You sound just like me in that regard! It fascinates me to see "what's inside?". Thank you!

@@89G Mobil 1 oil filters still made in USA, so was good to see that on the filter itself
@@theboys1782 heck yeah! Thanks for sharing that.
I used WIX for years. Now that they are made in china, and the NAPA Gold isn't a WIX anymore... I'm switching to Purolator and Mann+Hummel products.
The WX XP that I recently bought says USA on it. That's going on soon the truck soon!

It's pretty sad they just change the can color. Lol
