Anybody else who has tested this car (evo, autocar, Auto Express) has been amazed at it's abilities. You can oversteer any rear drive car in tight corners, specially a car with 600 hp and a lot of gas. You use the manettino knob to set the amount of traction you want and Speciale is praised for how easy it is to control and letting you slide as much as you want without letting you lose control. This thanks to new and smarter electronics. It feels like this car was above Ben's abilities as a driver as he often struggled to control it and often was too late with his inputs and kind of behind the car.
I think you are right on this. I also thought it was a little bit quick for him to say that "it slides all over the place" when he just steps on the gas in second gear when he is does 40 km/h coming out of a tight bend. Of course, one car is more prone to oversteer than the other, but then there is this guy..
paouvous there should be no reason why to make a comparison to the gt3. Of course they are both the same type of car (stripped out versions of sportscar to make them ideal for trackdays) but the ferrari does this on a different league. the performance of the speciale is much much greater...
the reason why the gt3 doesn't slide around like the speciale, is because it has 130hp less and not because it's stickier.. the speciale actually has with 1.33g a bigger laterale acceleration
Dude said it doesn't sound as good as the regular 458. O.o Well, Idk about the rest of you but to me(and "True" men) I think, love the stiffer and tough sound of the speciale. It sounds like it can take on the whole world of super-cars. I mean c'mon it is the tougher and more focused version so what did he expect.smh
If the journalists wouldn't always turn off the e-diff and the other traction stuff the car wouldn't be sliping and sliding all the time. Race driver's wouldn't turn it off.
***** dude how old are you? just because a bloody 12c beat the the 458 in a track time wise it doesnt mean its better. Actually it doesnt now that i think about it...
How old are YOU? Grammatically, that is the most poorly constructed comment I've seen in a while. Also, I never said one was definitively better than another. I merely demonstrated through example that they are all comparable cars.
You are right, now that i read it again it's an utter disaster..and yeah i think i might have misunderstood your comment as well.. However, can i ask you something? How many languages do you know? You are being so rude for no reason..Did it occur to you that english isn't my native language?
Paris Malaspinas English and Spanish. I understand, mistakes are easily made when using a second language, my Spanish is sub-par. I would not have been at all rude if it wasn't for the "dude how old are you?" comment, which is EXTREMELY rude and offensive, especially to an intellectual such as myself. I could have been far more rude and it would have been justified. No worries though Paris, I see you may have just misunderstood what I said =)
3 seconds dead to 60 in a rear wheel drive 4.5L NA V8....Geez...And I remember when the Gordon Murray's mighty Mclaren F1 with 6.1L V12 came out...and it was scaring everybody...and depending on the magazine the zero-60 was rated at either 3.6s, 3.4s, or 3.2s...
Not to come down on this Ben guys taste, I simply think he misses the point of the review a bit. a 458 is "better" in his opinion for being more comfortable, but the speciale is a more focused and refined version of the 458's original goal.. thus better. If he was reviewing say an AMG E55 and comparing it to its standard model than dragging his preference into the review might apply more to that setting.
Failed to mention the side slip control as well. He missed a few things and dwelled on the fact that the car wasn't as comfortable as the italia. I guess he didn't realize that a track focused variant of a car isn't supposed to be as comfortable as the standard version...
Video should be called "Dull bloke with no clue drives an immense car". Try using the SSC switch for a start - it's one of the main new features. On the other hand, I admire his bravery for daring to criticize Ferrari in their own backyard, knowing it means he probably won't be invited back for a decade or two!
I wasn't talking about what he said I was talking about another comment also on turns and everything else this thing would kill the mp4 lol as for the gt3 don't base it on the hp base it on the way these cars preform in the end the Speciale will always be the winner
Someone pleas tell this guy how to properly fasten that safety belt. That buckle pressing on your ribs should be on your lap lol. You first tighten that down around your hips then tighten the shoulder straps.
giua87 4 wheel steering doesn't really do much for traction (like all wheel drive). it helps more in terms of turn in on corners and taking a higher speed into corners and gaining time through that. If you get wheel slip, you get wheel slip. An all wheel drive car would then transfer power to the wheels that have traction. So your initial statement is not correct, that "the gt3 slides less, it has 4 wheel steering". No offense intended. :)
zuber1995 In the iteration currently used by Porsche it turns against the direction of the front wheels at low speeds and thus helps the car maneuver better in town (virtually shortening the wheelbase) while it turns parallel to the front wheels at speeds (virtually lengthening the wheelbase), which gives more stability and the benefits I described in my earlier post. Not by greater traction in terms of wheel slip, but rather in terms of managing side forces that build when turning into corners or avoiding obstacles.
i haven't driven any supercar yet, but the ferrari might slide all over the place because the throttle is applied too hard too soon.. i suppose you would get the same effect in the gt3
I've spend a couple of hours in the 430 Scuderia driving on streets and track (Mugello). If you leave the manettino on the green (wet) mode, we call it the housewife mode, everyone could drive it, because it wouldn't let the car accelrate when you're in a turn. When you drive it on Sport or Race the pedal will be as direct as possible and that's the most safe thing possible. Imagine you're in a fast turn, have to accelrate and the car needs a couple of millisecs to respond. Or like an old Mercedes AMG where the car is first shifting down automatically and then you get the full torque.
Look how this guy cross his hands on the steering wheel when he turns that's not how pro drivers drive a super car and he gives a bad review as well shame. This is an improved version of the 458 but it's more hardware track based as well.
***** How does that make any difference? Other than making the MP4-12C faster, more powerful, and more fuel efficient (I know, who cares in a super car.) I think the definition of being a fanboy is holding favor over the outdated inferior technology simply because it's popular. I'm simply using logic and figures to see what the better car is (MP4-12C)
lbonu1967 Ferrari has finally managed to match McLaren on 0-60 speed however the 12C is still a little faster to 120 (1/5 second). The new 458 is a little lighter (dry) at just 24 pounds, however the 12C is still more powerful by about 20HP. So I guess Ferrari has finally managed to almost match McLaren's base 12C with their done up special edition 458, good on them (keep in mind the 12C has a glove box, better ride quality, and less road noise.) and all for about 20 grand cheaper.
Your Writing Is A Bit Biased. Magazines All Over The World Have Judged The 458 As A Better Car In Comparison To The Mp4-12c, In Primis English Magazines (Evo, Autocar). See All The Awards Gained By The 458. The Speciale Will Spank Then Mp4 In Very Track. And Frankly Who Cares About The 0-60mph Time, You Drag Race At Red Light ?
And all they ever go on about is the 458 having Italian passion nonsense. All that is good for is the car bursting into flames the first week you buy it. Or about how they can't drift it because guess what a fast car isn't designed to oversteer Even if the Speciale is faster it doesn't matter because it's way more expensive. Base car to base car the 12C spanks the 458 in every category.
I agree i wouldent sit on my own cheap arse car let alone lean on such a beauty! but hey if its not your's then what hell & while your at it destroy the rear tyres why don't you?
Bad rev/throttle control, bad shifting (tons of over and undershifting) , not even holding onto the steering wheel right ( who does a 180 turn of the steering wheel without letting go ?!!!), breaks way to early before the corners, and hits the gas way to hard out of them, and without the traction control on max, this guy would have went off the road since from what I have seen, he is as shaky and squarely at the wheel as someone that is 90 years old, or doesn't know how to control a car. Plus if this car is faster than an Enzo around the Ferrari test track, then this guy is as dumb as a box of rocks, thinking that a Porsche GT3 is faster than this car. Plus when he complains about the sound being worse(grufer) than the reg 458 ITS BECAUSE IT HAS 40 more horsepower. All in all, this car was WAY to much for this guy to handle. Which is why he gave it a bad review over the regular 458.

I know this seems silly, but i keep checking if a new speciale review has been uploaded somewhere on UA-cam everyday. Love this car.
What's this? A review that doesn't sound like the brochure? Well done Ben.
Get Chris Harris to show this driver how to drive this car!
***** thats why he's great
He did the comparison with the GT3 Chris Harris didn't!
paouvous
Man he didn't even get the opportunity to drive it yet...
Yeah probably won't get the chance anytime soon either
paouvous there should be no reason why to make a comparison to the gt3. Of course they are both the same type of car (stripped out versions of sportscar to make them ideal for trackdays) but the ferrari does this on a different league. the performance of the speciale is much much greater...
terrific car with high functionality ....i really love the smile of Ferrari 458 Speciale..thanks for video sir
F12 still better.
Łukasz Kozłowski Not if you like track days.
right then… Now hand the keys over to chris harris for a review. Then me lol
good to hear the negative sides as well as the positives for once
the reason why the gt3 doesn't slide around like the speciale, is because it has 130hp less and not because it's stickier.. the speciale actually has with 1.33g a bigger laterale acceleration

rival to a GT3, I think not!. Ferrari 458 handles and goes like nothing else!.
The GT3 often beats the McLaren 12C around a track. The 12C often beats the 458 around a track. You obviously don't know what you're talking about.
***** dude how old are you? just because a bloody 12c beat the the 458 in a track time wise it doesnt mean its better. Actually it doesnt now that i think about it...

Title of video: Man wearing blue jeans sits on Ferraris 358 speciale...
2:12 make sure you wipe the dash after youre done :p
will farrel is testing cars now?
At the beginning the audio was creepy lol
You didn't say anything about the active aero
Failed to mention the side slip control as well. He missed a few things and dwelled on the fact that the car wasn't as comfortable as the italia. I guess he didn't realize that a track focused variant of a car isn't supposed to be as comfortable as the standard version...
does anybody know the name of the song at the beginning for the clip?
His driving makes me nervous ,like he is going to slide it into a curb.ditch any moment

Amazing Ferrarity Club ( Special team)🎉🎉❤
Interesting, autocar seems to have a different opinion
i closed this video as soon as he sat on the car
1:05 WOW!!!!!
that was a great review, i subscribed.
2:47 is awesome.

This car is made for highway and not for country roads !
On country roads a Ferrari suffers (but the landscape is more beautiful !).
Why you X your arms when turning? It's really weird and it isn't very good for driving.
Obviously the gt3 slides less, it has 4 wheel steering… speciale is more of a drivers car than the gt3 for that reason
4 wheel steering and all wheel drive are not the same thing.
mrm95 i know that, the gt3 has 4 wheel steering not awd

Did not the regular 458 beat the f50
There is just something about this guy.. I don't like the way he reviewed this car.. It's a sexy car.. But I don't like how he reviewed it
Only a Ferrari can have the color red !.....and not only the car ! 6:17
Please get a proper driver. Its him that go all over the place.
i haven't driven any supercar yet, but the ferrari might slide all over the place because the throttle is applied too hard too soon.. i suppose you would get the same effect in the gt3

Ehmmm .... Chris, Chris can you pls step in?
Chris Harris would be ASHAMED at this rookie

jeans against a 458
Great video! But try to put clean shoes before driving the Ferrari 458 Speciale and no this beauty is not a fucking chair to put your ass on.
awesome
Is it me, or is he short shifting the whole time?
Yeah he should rather go all the way up to 9000rpm...
Please stop spitting saliva onto the steering. just stop!
Please do not sit on a the Ferrari. Show some respect, manners, and class! Please!!
Heya, It's so nice reproduce decorous 11
I agree Ferrari Man... this guy doesn't know what he's talking about.
yet he have driven the car...and you two knobheads haven`t^^
Still not as fast as the MP4-12C...
.... don't think so. On track this thing will be fast than MP4-12C and by far ...
*****

can he even drive?!?! what the hell, he is throwing car sideways and driving in the most idiotic way.
Dont sit on it..............
Car
les mecs maintenant ne savent plus que drifter ! vraiment bizarre ....
he needs to work on his footwork.
I agree i wouldent sit on my own cheap arse car let alone lean on such a beauty! but hey if its not your's then what hell & while your at it destroy the rear tyres why don't you?
FFS, stop sitting on the car.
It is a press car.

I'm sorry but this is too good of a car to be mixed with that awful soundtrack
