As a beginner feeling determined yet blind with the whole ‘I know what I want to do but don’t know how to begin’ I want to say a massive thank you. So so helpful!!! Xxx
This is the most articulate video I’ve seen in a while. I love your teaching style! Not too much , Just enough, easy to understand!! Subscribed! I’m doing my first mini shoot this weekend and I’m literally going to follow every step!
Loved this video so much! I agree 45 is too long. A mini session is just one family. If people want multiple families like their sister and her kids aswell, then I recommend going with my full family package! :)
I didn’t even occur to me that it’s best to do mini sessions earlier so it’s easier to edit the green trees orange! That park is beautiful! I wish we had areas like that where I live. 😍
This is very helpful! Thank you for sharing! I need to get my butt in gear for advertising fall photos. This will be my 1st year doing this. It's a bit intimidating, but I have to follow through. Thanks a lot! Subbed! 👍🏻
This is so stinkin helpful thank youuuuu so much for sharing your tips and tricks with us! Definitely designing mini sessions based around some of these tips! 💚
Great video but it would be informative if you could include the price for the session. I am a landscape photographer but am considering trying portrait photography. Finally I really enjoyed the video and you offered great advice.
Can you give a lesson on exactly how you edited the background to such a beautiful golden background without changing the tone on the people? thank you. Your video is great, and very informative!
Loved the video and how you explained the process as I am not a photographer myself but someone who wanted to know how the mini sessions work and the language behind it !!! I have a beautiful 4 years old girl and I am interested in someone in my area to take some beautiful pictures of her !!! I Loved your professional attitude, such contagious passion and lovely personality Ksenia !!! Radostina Velikova - New Jersey
I am doing my first fall mini this weekend. It is for a fundraiser. I am very nervous, and love everything you said and extremely helpful! I have everything you mentioned in your video. I am wondering, if you shoot your whole mini session with your 70-200? I feel pressured for time if I need to switch lenses! And can you recommend settings? Do you keep your iso at 100 for the whole shoot? and balance shutter while kids are running etc? Your video is amazing
Wow! This is such a great video! One question and i think you mentioned a coupon code? But how do you keep them from downloading more than 7 images from your website? Does your website offer that feature? I use shootproof.
wow there is a lot of information to unpack here. thank you again for sharing your wealth of knowledge and experience. before you send the gallery to the client to pick their 7. do you edit the pics? also do you use a different memory card for each family? how are you able to determine what pics belong to what family do you don't make a mistake of sending the wrong pics to the wrong person especially doing probably close to 10 families a day
Awesome questions! 1. I do edit about 15-30 pics to upload to each gallery. Do at color color correction and find basic edit, this increases the chance if them ordering more images. 2. I use one 128 gb memory card per camera that I never take out until I get home. I have a second card as backup, but I only record to one at a time. Dealing with multiple cards is more risk that you'll lose one of them. 3. I have good memory, but there's a schedule, do I always know who was after who, so you can follow the order of the sessions to determine which pictures belong to each family
Terrific video! I have a question, how do you deal with particularly difficult kids? I had a shoot where the youngest 5 yr old did not want to be there. She wasn’t throwing a tantrum but wasn’t really cooperating so I wasn’t able to get the poses I wanted.
So glad I came across this...such good tips. Can I connect my promotion lading page to my website ? Can you create a tutorial showing how to create a landing page for a mini shoot promo. Thanks
It doesn't have to be on your main domain if you're using a landing page builder like Sticky Folio, Adobe Spark even Canva. Honestly I'm bout a graphic designer or web developer to help you with that
I just subscribed fabulous video I'm new to this what pricing structure do you have set up would you be able to share that with me? I'm doing my first family shoot today really appreciate it thank you!
I thought I touched on my mini sessions pretty comg in the video. I started charging $150 for a mini session 6 years ago, this year it was $500 - it has to be significantly lower than your normal rate (50% off) only do it a couple times a year though. I offer 7 digitals and they can purchase more digitals or prints
Thanks! If they ask, I help them with some color and style suggestions. But I send them a general color guidelines when they book a session. Most of my clients do excellent job styling their outfits
Since Golden Hour both in the morning and afternoon only last about an hour, do you find that you run into harsher light? For exampl,e if Golden Hour is 7pm and you book something at 4:30p, the light will have a lot more contrast, right? I would need to bring a sun scrim or flag to make it softer?
If you're in an open field then yes it'll be harder. But in the woods it's all about finding the right location for specific time of day, so that the trees are blocking the harsh light and make it all golden. I shoot 10-12:30 and 2-5 in October (it the woods it gets dark sooner). But honestly I can shoot anytime of the day anywhere. Watch my video on hacks on how to find even light anywhere
these are great photos and very informative on how you do your session. may i ask if how much is the 20 minute portrait session and does this includes the digital copies?
The way I do it is I charge $375 for a mini session with 7 fully retouched digitals. They can purchase extra digitals and /or prints. But if you'd rather do IPS or sell more prints, you can charge much less as a session fee and upsell the products instead
Great tips!!!i just start dreaming to be a photographer like you. I only have a canon m50. 😅 only way to become a professional photographer will be just taking lots of photos , watch UA-cam and study , right?
They are still getting same level of service, me and my style for half the price. If anything, less time is actually better with the kids and they still get amazing pictures. So it's not so much a discount, but a different offer, cheaper than my normal full session
In the past years I charged $220-250, this year I changed it to $395, as my rates went up across the board. But if you're just starting out it's ok to charge and introductory rate to attract new clients. Just please don't do anything under $150-200, that's just insulting for you primarily 🙏

Loved this video so much! I agree 45 is too long. A mini session is just one family. If people want multiple families like their sister and her kids aswell, then I recommend going with my full family package! :)
Definitely! Or block 2 mini session slots back to back for bigger families
Wow, this is golden Ksenia, thank you for making this video!

Yes on Shootproof you can set up permissions to download only certain number of images or give them a discount with a coupon

Thank you so much for posting this. I have my very first mini sessions in November, and these are great tips.
You're so welcome! Good luck, you'll get a hang of it quickly, I'm sure
Terrific video! I have a question, how do you deal with particularly difficult kids? I had a shoot where the youngest 5 yr old did not want to be there. She wasn’t throwing a tantrum but wasn’t really cooperating so I wasn’t able to get the poses I wanted.
Be patient and do the best you can, play, make it fun for kids, don't just give directions
Do you use auto ISO when you’re shooting these fall photos or do you do full manual.
So glad I came across this...such good tips. Can I connect my promotion lading page to my website ? Can you create a tutorial showing how to create a landing page for a mini shoot promo. Thanks

@@kseniaprophoto you pricing for the additional pictures that they can purchase after 7 charging for the special?
@@kseniaprophoto
$150 now $500 how many photos are you delivering? What do you charge if they want more than the base amount you agreed upon?
I just saw where you replied 7 images.
What do you charge additional Photos?
Thank you!!! 😊
Спасибо!!!
Рада что я смогла вам помочь!
Если всё зелёное пока, как сделать всё красное и желтое в фотошопе?
Hello! Thank you so much for this very well explained video. I have a questions. How long do you take to deliver the product?
Aviut a week to deliver proofs, and another 7-10 days to deliver the final retouched digitals
How many pictures do they get with a mini shoot.
Such a great video! Do you help to pick outfits or do you discuss client's outfits for mini sessions with them?
Thanks! If they ask, I help them with some color and style suggestions. But I send them a general color guidelines when they book a session. Most of my clients do excellent job styling their outfits

70-200 2.8
Great video thank you! Id like to ask which lens do you use?
Thank you! I really like using Canon 70-200 2.8 for these fall family sessions, but I also have Sigma 50 mm 1.4 art on my second camera

@@kseniaprophoto i don't know how to make the background more orange without compromising the subject, i love your shots.
Don't touch red or orange channels in Lightroom, only green&yellow. And I add more warmth in photoshop and use masks to protect the skin tones
@@kseniaprophoto oh thanks

How do you find a location without needing a permit?
Just go to a public park no one asks for permits

badass woman you rule!
Haha thanks, you just made my day 🤗
20MIN! IS THAT EVEN ENOUGH TIME? CONSIDERING THE PREPARATION
20 minutes? Wow. It takes me that long just to get my camera and lighting set up, lol.
Haaa my setup is very simple and I’ve been doing photography for over 10 years, so you’ll get there! Practice makes perfect
@@kseniaprophoto Thanks! 10 years? Wow, you still look so young.
14-24 mm /24-120mm. I can't think of a portrait session that 14-120 won't cover.
You're right, what about the apertures on thise lenses?
so many great tips especially with doing vids of posing then using them as promo video
Of course! Glad it was helpful
You talk too fast.....do you take meds??
Ahha nope!!! Just have a toddler and literally had less than an hour to record the video 😂😂😂
So so so helpful
This was awesome thank you
