Can you believe that this performance in Jan 2017 when Dimash was just a little over 22 years old, hat he was invited to this Chinese competition. Dimash said during an interview that The Singer was the very first time that he has sung on “the adult stage”. Of course because he was the only non Chinese, he went first to open the season. His nerves was a wreck. So it is the first time singing outside of his country on what he calls, “the adult stage”. Throughout this competition, he learned many songs in different languages. What I really admire about Dimash is that he has worked since age 5 to get to this point. He knows what the song is about and he realizes that his Kazakh accent can be hard to sing in other languages. He loves music, didn’t waste his parents money. Took his singing very serious. He will be 28 in May 2022 and look where he is now. Igor Krutoy, well renowned maestro/composer who worked with Lara Fabian came out of retirement to work with Dimash. Igor does not work with garbage singers. But just remember that he opened the Season of The Singer 2017 singing SOS. It’s a shame that Vita and Lionel Ritchie have both barred Dimash from singing their songs again. It angers me to some degree because both of those singers don’t understand that this is the 21st century and the younger generation don’t know or like their songs. They appreciate and enjoy Dimash. In my opinion he did a much better Cover of Vita’s song, Opera 2 and he made Hello, originally sung by Lionel Ritchie his own. He didn’t take anything away from Lionel. It’s like two different songs. I am 65, love old school music but have never been a fan of Lionel Ritchie and never heard of Vita’s. All I can say is Dimash worked really hard and continues to do so to this day to perfect his talent. He will have a Doctorate Degree really soon in Musicology. I’ve seen videos of him training and it is no joke. There are many singers who could learn from Dimash. Thank God, Dimash is a true talented and extremely humble young man. Great reaction.

One of the main differences between Dimash and most singers: Many singers perform singing their songs to the audience... With Dimash, he wraps the audience in his warm vocals, and brings them with him into his world

This was his first appearance in the Chinese contest "I am a singer" in the year 2017. Dimash was 22 years old and was the youngest contestant. He won second place because the first place was reserved for a Chinese singer. Dimash gained notoriety all over the world and that was his real prize.
In this same contest you can review Opera 2, Adagio and Confessa + Diva dance.
Keep reacting to this super mega star with songs like Sinful passion, Your love, Love is like a dream, Ave Maria, Ikanaide, Fly away, Be with me.

The "SINGER-2017" competition is held in China only with professional singers who are already famous and famous. The competition consisted of 14 rounds and lasted almost 4 months. The first is the one who is the least known. Dimash was the only foreigner, and no one knew him. The Chinese called Dimash a "little import brother." He performed on January 21, 2017, the first with the song S.O.S. The famous contestants were in shock then. They then jokingly said, "OK, we went home, why did we even get called?". /// The First place was given to the famous Chinese singer Sandy. She was 51 at the time, but she looked very young. Sandy's first SD disc came out before Dimash was born. Dimash took only the Second place, however, lost only a few hundredths of a ball. When Dimash took second place, the fans quickly found this "explanation".> Dimash is called ANGEL, ALIEN and, of course, PRINCE. Although Dimash did not win the show (ranked second), but after the competition he did a very good job in China.

Really appreciate your comments. I totally agree, that from the beginning, even though I knew absolutely nothing about vocal ability when I heard it, I knew instantly that he was totally different to anyone I had heard before. I knew I was listening to something really special. He had me totally hooked in one verse. I have spent the last 8 months since I discovered him devouring every vocal and music professional review I could find to understand what makes him so special. The more I find out the more appreciation I have for him. And of course since then he has taken his perfection to higher and higher levels. Saying that, although there are some awesome new versions of this and Autumn Strong and Daybreak from the Singer, those 3 songs from Singer will always be extra special to me. They are more vulnerable, poignant, just have something special, maybe because young Dimash knew his whole future career could change dramatically (which it did) by how well he did in that show. He was so nervous before the performances but once he walked on stage he was totally “at home”. He said in an interview, if you cut him open you would find music. It’s actually his “first” language I can’t listen to other artists now for more than a couple of songs before I have to get back to Dimash. He is so uniquely versatile, even in just one song that I never get bored and I listen to him for hours a day
Thank you for your appreciation. Lara Fabian has been on my list of favourites for many years. She is a beautifully emotional singer too and of course Igor Krutoy wrote a lot of music for her so they are always epic. One of my favourites is Llora (Cry) which she wrote about a friend who was in a seriously abusive relationship. Stunning

Amicalement

Hi, I loved your analagy about comparing Dimash's singing abilities to a Stradivarius, He once remarked that he lives music. He said that if you "opened his head, music would fall out, and if you opened his heart, music would fall out" He literally transforms and becomes the song he is singing, and always with just the right amount of emotion that the song demands. Notice sometime that before he starts singing, he takes a moment to enter into that space, the space where that particular song lives. Thanks again for another great reaction!

You are probably aware by now that this performance by Dimash was the one that catapulted him into world fame overnight when Chinese internet broke from him having 12 million views following this song, and him waking up next morning to having guards stationed outside of his room, and who accompanied him for the 3 months duration of the I Am Singer competition of 2017. He has sung this at many competitions and concerts since about 2012 as his signature song, as has many more versions that show his growth in singing and tones since then.
Some vocal coaches have analysed this growth and it makes great viewing.

👉 This was a historic moment and this is the song of the songs for Dimash and us, his Dears (This is what Dimash calls us fans.)
When I first heard Dimash 5 years ago, I couldn't believe my ears either. I was tempted to look behind my laptop like a little kid to see if there was another singer hiding there.🤣 From that day on, not a day goes by that I don't hear Dimash.
This song comes from the famous Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' 1978, well known in French-speaking countries) and is one of the most difficult songs to sing and made Dimash a mega-star overnight.
The best comment from a Dear under this video: „If you are having a bad day, remember, someone had to sing after him.“ 🤣
The competition was open in 2013 to well-known professional singers from the music industry worldwide (theoretically). In reality, only 2 or 3 non-Chinese contestants (Koreans) attended the show.
Foreign participants have been banned since 2016. (The ban was originally intended only for Koreans, but unofficially applied to all foreigners. The Chinese government wanted to ban Korean influence, even though the show was invented in Korea).
In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old). Foreign participants were actually forbidden at that time (politics). The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home.
Despite Dimash's planned brief presence, his name was intended to be symbolic and understandable to the public. Dimash was given the Chinese name Dimashi and the 3 syllables were assigned Chinese hydroglyphs: Di - achievement Ma - precious stone Shi - dream, wish.
This competition is not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after his first song "SOS" Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers overnight. The next day, bodyguards stood in front of his door.
The competition consisted of 14 rounds over 4 months. The jury consisted of 500 spectators who knew music, not just your average "Joe". They were well screened to be sure they would be able to judge the musicians fairly and competently. With up to 1 billion people watching this TV program and international interest was aroused. The performances were uploaded to UA-cam ... and so we became Dimash's Dears.
The Chinese organizers planned... but Dimash came, sang and stayed ... for the next 3 years in China ... but he only finished second in the competition because he is not Chinese (conditions have changed: 2018, Jessie J. won).
Thank you Dears for helping to complete the comment.
In January 2021 Dimash was one of the few foreigners who has been asked to attend the live online show marking the inauguration of the President of U.S.A. Joe Biden. He is here as a representative of his country Kazakhstan and he is also here for his Dears from all over the world. This is the first time in the 67-year history of the Sister Cities and the first time since relations between the United States and the concentration camp began (almost 30 years ago) that an artist from Kazakhstan has attended such an event.
    Dimash performed:
    * S.O.S. - ua-cam.com/video/sE-9fQTFyas/v-deo.html and
    * Samaltau - ua-cam.com/video/OLrFs0WRxgY/v-deo.html

As always, this was another very enjoyable reaction and analysis. The song "S.O.S. (d'un Terrien en détresse)" is originally from a French-Canadian musical called 'Starmania' from the 1970s and is considered one of the most difficult French songs to perform. Dimash appears here in the fifth season of Hunan Television's "I Am A Singer" competition. "I Am A Singer" is an annual Chinese music competition between famous and established professional singers. The audience phones in to determine the winner after each episode. It is the same throughout the entire show; 500 with musical backgrounds judge the show by points each week.
At 22 years old, Dimash was the youngest participant in the show's history and competed against these professional and top-selling Chinese singers as a 'wildcard' competitor. The competition consists of 14 rounds, lasts almost 4 months, and competitors are eliminated throughout the season. Every performance is live, and no lip-syncing or auto-tune is permitted. Pure unadulterated vocal ability only. Dimash's mother later said that he hoped to reach at least the middle stage of the competition.
This was the very first episode of the competition, and Dimash had to go first because he was considered the weakest, given that he was completely unknown to the audience. After this performance, he became a superstar in China overnight. His Chinese competitors called him their "little imported brother." The other already well-known contestants were in absolute awe of him and joked that they might as well go home. Dimash won the first two episodes! He also won the 6th for his rendition of "Adagio," a song made famous by Lara Fabian.
First place overall went to the famous Chinese Sandy. Sandy's first album came out before Dimash was even born. Dimash took second place overall; however, he lost by a very narrow margin. He lost a lot of points for his performance of "Uptown Funk." Although Dimash did not win the show, he immediately became a beloved star in China.
As part of the contest, all contestants/performers are required to perform one original song they have composed. Dimash sang "Unforgettable Day," a song he wrote when he was still in his teens - it's a love song. He sang in both the original Kazakh and in Chinese even though he did not speak Chinese at the time and had to have a translator with him throughout the competition.
Here is the order of Dimash's performances for The Singer 2017. The contest lasts 14 weeks, but Dimash has only 13 performances because he had already made it into the semi-finals by week 11.
    1. S.O.S. (French)
    2. Opera 2 (Russian)
    3. The Show Must Go On (English)
    4. Autumn Strong (Mandarin)
    5. Uptown Funk (English)
    6. Adagio (English)
    7. Daididau (Kazakh)
    8. Daybreak (Mandarin)
    9. All By Myself (English)
    10. Unforgettable Day (Mandarin/Kazakh)
    11. Bye week - He had already made it into the semis
    12. Confessa/Diva Dance (Mandarin/Italian/Alien) (Semi-finals)
    13. Michael Jackson Tribute Medley (English) (Finals)
    14. Give Me Love (Makhabbat ber maghan) (Kazakh)
The last performance was part of the 2017 Biennial Concert and not the competition. It was broadcast live and is an original song written for Dimash.
    Lyrics:
Why do I live? Why do I die?
Why do I laugh? Why do I cry?
    Here is the S.O.S.
    Of an earthling in distress
My feet were never on the ground
I'd much rather be a bird
    I don't fit my skin
I'd like to see the world upside down
    What if it's more beautiful
    As seen from above, above
I always seemed to confuse life
With some kind of comic strip
I'm so eager to get metamorphosed
    I can feel something
    Drawing me, drawing me
    Drawing me way up high
    At the universe's lottery
    I didn't get winning numbers
    I don't fit my skin
    I don't wanna be a machine
    All work and no sleep
Why do I live? Why do I die?
Why do I laugh? Why do I cry?
    I think I'm picking up
    Waves from another world
My feet were never on the ground
I'd much rather be a bird
    I don't fit my skin
I'd like to see the world upside down
I'd much rather be a bird
    Back to sleep, dear child...

I'm SO glad to have managed to catch your premiere live!! And to this particular song too! Wow! Loving your thoughtful and intelligent reaction ❤
Unfortunately French people say he does not sing the words properly in this performance. Some say he garbles it. Some say he doesn't get the lyrics in the right order and they don't make sense.I know that he sings it differently to the stated lyrics but there may be a reason for that (time constraints?). I live in France and don't speak a lot of French yet and even I can tell that he doesn't pronounce all of it very well. But for me - well I simply don't care. This performance is magnificent and it was the Dimash song that I first heard and fell in love with his voice to. I cannot get enough of it!!

I've heard a few previous performances of SOS and his french pronunciation is much better in those, my feeling is that he was so nervous and so intent on the actual performance because he knew the importance of it that his entire focus was on the notes rather than the lyrics.
When he sang it on a French TV show he got a standing ovation from the cast and the audience that lasted well over a minute which is definitely proof that it was well received by them.

Which French People? The video of this show is now over 24 million views. ua-cam.com/video/44jyecSwdlE/v-deo.html The french audience was totally captivated and dithyrambic about his performance... The presenter explained that the light mispronunciations were normal because Dimash learned the song phonetically in French, after having it translated to understand it. He knew exactly what he was singing. And these little pronunciation errors didn't bother anyone!

    • @PrymalChaos
      @PrymalChaos  2 роки тому +2

I assume it's similar to how he used to sing in English. It's phonetically close but there were some errors. By all reports he has dramatically improved in that regard. I was just impressed by how he "sounded" french.. he seemed to be making all the right sounds. 😃

    • @debbiemorgan859
      @debbiemorgan859 2 роки тому +1

@@PrymalChaos I've watched a few French reactors including one vocal coach and they all say that his pronunciation for a non French speaker is very good, there are a few words in this version where he pronounces the s at the end of words where he shouldn't but he doesn't do that again after this performance.
As regards his English, the last performance he did in China in January was in English and it was perfect and almost accent free. His spoken English is now amazing and his speech yesterday in Dubai was 50% in English and 50% in Kazakh as he was speaking at the Kazakh pavilion in the Dubai Expo.

Saluti dall'Italia! (ho usato Google traduttore 🤞🤞🤞)

Being a full time metalhead, I really do appreciate the talent in all music. I first heard this song about 2 years ago, when everyone and their dog was reacting to Dimash haha. The dude is a vocal beast. At 10:25 and 11:57, he's busts out that "power metal style" belt/wail and it's hits me everytime. Unleash The Archers is my favourite band, and I always wonder what it would sound like for Brittney and Dimash harmonizing together at like a high 5(octave) wail. They'd probably split the earth in half or cause some type of natural disaster, throw in Floor and it would cause a worldwide extinction 🤣
It's been about a month since your last UTA reaction. I recommend going back to their roots. This song was from their 2nd self released album, before they signed to Napalm Records. The mix/mastering isn't as top notch as their later stuff, but I don't think it takes away from the music itself. Hope you can check out their video for General Of The Dark Army. Link - ua-cam.com/video/WVi0d7oqDvs/v-deo.html
For a non metal reaction, I highly recommend the song Trodlabundin by Eivor. This song is sung in her native Faroese language. It is beautiful. She also incorporates a traditional Faroese folk throat singing technique which is mind blowing. It's a live performance in Norway. To explain its vibe, it's something you'd hear being sung while walking through an enchanted forest of fairies and elves haha Link - ua-cam.com/video/wsl-KHGe4Kk/v-deo.html

Yes, this was from 2017. It would be more beneficial to have background, his progression emotionally, technically, historically, humanly, is all part of the big picture. SOS is from 1978. There are TONS of specific lyrical poetic translations ;)

He is innovative, charismatic and an amazing performer. He has a great voice and amazing compositions and lyrics. Thanks for your reaction. It is true that from a technical point of view, it may be easy for another singer to copy Dimash's songs, but his pure emotions and feelings can never be imitated. I have heard a few singers who have tried to sing Dimash's songs, they can't be compared even 1% to Dimash. Dimash has not only technical power, but also his heavenly voice has the power to conquer hearts.

That's an interesting concept. I like it to child virtuosos. I feel like sometimes they can be as spectacularly talented because they are unaware of how difficult what they are doing is.
Perhaps there were people throughout time who were blissfully ignorant of things like "vocal ranges" or what a Tenor or A Lyric Soprano was, and just somehow managed to figure out how to sing in several octaves and/or styles.
