I don't know where you got the papa/potato for Peruvian Ceviche. In Peru, we don't put potatoes but sweet potatoes, maybe someone confused the variety of sweet potatoes we have in Peru, we have one variety that is kind of pale and looks like the color of a potato 🥔. Another fun fact, actually, Peruvian Ceviche can vary in protein. Some use fish, shrimp, pota, seafood mix, or conchas negra. So, there is variety in Peru. I believe the fresh ingredients in Peru make the taste better than buying Peruvian ceviche outside Peru. Though there might be some exceptions, depending on the chef or where you buy the Peruvian Ceviche.

That's not actually Accurate, Ceviche was originally brought to the Americas by Muslim housekeepers during the colony, they used Sour Oranges originally, but in the Americas they turn to Lemons and Lime due to availability. After that in case of Perú, the process improved with some Andean marinate technics, and finally Japanese immigration influenced it by changing the long marinate that whitens the fish, and change it to just before serving lemon addition. Those all technics came together from different cook influences and deliver Peruvian Nowadays Ceviche. So basically Peruvian Ceviche is the result of the confluence of different concepts of freshness and protein treatments. So Peruvian Ceviche is the result of Peru's diversity and natural fusion and adaptations.

The imitation of the real and authentic Peruvian ceviche is acceptable, but they should give it another name... just don't try to impose your personal tastes on people who are not even on the list of famous chefs or food critics. Nobody cares about their opinions...

@@MrGoosey4 I disagree but your entitled to your opinion. Mexico is always above Peru in world food organizations lists as well. Right now Peru does have the best Latin American restaurant in the world though. I like Peruvian food not hating just think Mexican food is better. It’s not just tortillas and salsa lol. There’s way more stuff but many people don’t know about it because the other stuff is more popular in America. Hands down it’s better

Espero haber ayudado. :)

I feel like a lot of these Peruvians commenting weren’t born in Peru or haven’t been in decades. Here’s a variety of ceviches just for the ones that don’t know… ceviche de conchas negras, ceviche de erizo, chancadito de cangrejo, choritos a la chalaca, almejas a la chalaca. On the taco note, Peru has their version of taco and enchilada it’s just not what you would compare to Mexican ones, in Peru those are presented more like a burrito so much so that even in Peru I don’t call them taco or enchilada cuz it’s disrespectful, I called them burritos criollos.

That mexican ceviche, we also have it here in peru... its just not called ceviche. We have it in a plate known as "choro a la chalaca" which is basicly "chalacan mussles". That ceviche is served on the mussle itself, the basic/cheap ones being just like a pico de gallo with the ceviche lime mix, and the complete ones... with shrimp, fish paste, etc...
