Great in depth video, I hope the green wood didn't split or warp on you since the video.
To get that large circle cut for the ends you can always try attaching a palm router to a board and screw one end in the center of the layup. You use an end mill bit in the router but do a couple passes and not try to cut through the material in one shot. If you look up "palm router circle jig" it'll make a bit more sense.
    Thank you for the video!

Hi Phil. Any updates on this? How's the wood holding up?
Anything that you wish you would change now? I'm working on a similar project atm.

Thanks so much for this detailed video! I really want to build one and haven't really found any videos with all step by step overview! You're amazing dude. Even tho you did some mistakes, you learned a lot and at the same time the sauna looks dope! I was wondering, since you did not strap the outside together, is everything still in place? Because when you use the sauna and tempretures goes up high and then down, woods tends to expand when hot and contract when cold. Awesome job dude! Huge thumbs up for the hardwork and devotion. Keep it up!

Hi! I'm considering buying a Vevor sauna heater but I would like to plug it in through a regular european 230V power outlet. It's for a small tent sauna. Is it possible? Seems like this isn't exactly "plug-and-play". Thanks!

Thank you for this, I had a question about the proper stone placement for the 9 kW sauna heater which I recently purchased from Amazon.
My question is how far down should I be placing the rocks for the heater?
    Thank you

Hey man, great video! I was REALLY hoping to see how you managed to fit #6 wire in that control board though. I came here looking for that answer. I have a 9.2KW here and all my electricians are saying I should install #6 (38A max pull with 20% overhead is ~47A, so #6 wire is necessary). But the receivers on L1 and L2 are too small for #6, looks like they're made for #8. Can you elaborate on that in a reply? I'm not sure what I should do. I'm staring at a sauna that has no power right now because the electricians don't want to install it. Yikes!

Great job man. I want to do a barrel sauna to both lower material costs and get good clearance between the sauna and the house, but my biggest problem is getting access to a big enough router table, so I think I'll be going square. Still, I've all Summer to think about it and plan.

I live in Montana. Trying to decide if outdoor is an option. Afraid you can’t get it up to 185 when it’s minus 20. Anybody experience with cold cold winter temperatures and DIY outdoor saunas? Right now I think one of the closets is my best option

I just tried one quite close to Mount Rainier in WA. Not even that cold weather. It's a huge waste of energy and you lose so much of the heat. There's usually no insulation whatsoever and the door opens straight to the cold air. The barrel design is suboptimal anyway because you end up sitting too low for a proper sauna experience. I recommend a box design with two rows of benches. I recommend reading "Trumpkin’s Notes On Barrels" blog article for more info on the barrel design.

I would have square tongue and grove the boards you glued together for the footings. It would have given you more surface area for the glue.

If you just a normal person like me n don’t have access to these kinds of machinery.. you can buy the kit with everything pre cut n ready to assemble.aster that you need a drill and a rubber hammer to tap the pieces in without denting them. It a $2,999 kid guys he copied that n re did it .

I appreciate including the inevitable Average Joe screw-ups to overcome. That is very realistic.
I do not appreciate the annoying ‘work’ music. Don’t we all know a musician that could easily make an mp3 of minimal ambient music instead? Using hyper-repetitive public domain stuff is inconsiderate. That’s the kind of intentionally grating call-waiting music corporations use to make people hang up rather than wait to talk to a person.
