Can't believe this video doesn't have more views. Thanks you so much man. We'll be building a sauna this summer and this video is going to be so so useful.
Great in depth video, I hope the green wood didn't split or warp on you since the video. To get that large circle cut for the ends you can always try attaching a palm router to a board and screw one end in the center of the layup. You use an end mill bit in the router but do a couple passes and not try to cut through the material in one shot. If you look up "palm router circle jig" it'll make a bit more sense. Thank you for the video!
Thanks so much for this detailed video! I really want to build one and haven't really found any videos with all step by step overview! You're amazing dude. Even tho you did some mistakes, you learned a lot and at the same time the sauna looks dope! I was wondering, since you did not strap the outside together, is everything still in place? Because when you use the sauna and tempretures goes up high and then down, woods tends to expand when hot and contract when cold. Awesome job dude! Huge thumbs up for the hardwork and devotion. Keep it up!
Hi! I'm considering buying a Vevor sauna heater but I would like to plug it in through a regular european 230V power outlet. It's for a small tent sauna. Is it possible? Seems like this isn't exactly "plug-and-play". Thanks!
Thank you for this, I had a question about the proper stone placement for the 9 kW sauna heater which I recently purchased from Amazon. My question is how far down should I be placing the rocks for the heater? Thank you
Hey man, great video! I was REALLY hoping to see how you managed to fit #6 wire in that control board though. I came here looking for that answer. I have a 9.2KW here and all my electricians are saying I should install #6 (38A max pull with 20% overhead is ~47A, so #6 wire is necessary). But the receivers on L1 and L2 are too small for #6, looks like they're made for #8. Can you elaborate on that in a reply? I'm not sure what I should do. I'm staring at a sauna that has no power right now because the electricians don't want to install it. Yikes!
Great video mate, I bet it took as long as the sauna to put together. Sauna envy lol, I’m just waiting for my kids to outgrow the trampoline and saunas going in. 😂 Awesome view outta your sauna door. 🤙
Amazing Thank you for sharing the process here, It has been on my list but now having a proper walkthrough I am excited to jump on it. Did the Cedar end up shrinking? Warping? How is it doing now?
Great job man. I want to do a barrel sauna to both lower material costs and get good clearance between the sauna and the house, but my biggest problem is getting access to a big enough router table, so I think I'll be going square. Still, I've all Summer to think about it and plan.
I live in Montana. Trying to decide if outdoor is an option. Afraid you can’t get it up to 185 when it’s minus 20. Anybody experience with cold cold winter temperatures and DIY outdoor saunas? Right now I think one of the closets is my best option
I just tried one quite close to Mount Rainier in WA. Not even that cold weather. It's a huge waste of energy and you lose so much of the heat. There's usually no insulation whatsoever and the door opens straight to the cold air. The barrel design is suboptimal anyway because you end up sitting too low for a proper sauna experience. I recommend a box design with two rows of benches. I recommend reading "Trumpkin’s Notes On Barrels" blog article for more info on the barrel design.
If you just a normal person like me n don’t have access to these kinds of machinery.. you can buy the kit with everything pre cut n ready to assemble.aster that you need a drill and a rubber hammer to tap the pieces in without denting them. It a $2,999 kid guys he copied that n re did it .
I appreciate including the inevitable Average Joe screw-ups to overcome. That is very realistic. I do not appreciate the annoying ‘work’ music. Don’t we all know a musician that could easily make an mp3 of minimal ambient music instead? Using hyper-repetitive public domain stuff is inconsiderate. That’s the kind of intentionally grating call-waiting music corporations use to make people hang up rather than wait to talk to a person.
Thanks for documenting your process. Much appreciate the effort brother!
I would highly expect this video as well to have much higher views! Very detailed and informative! Thank you!
This video was excellent. Thank you for putting it together and including the links!
Awesome video! Definitely deserves more views. Appreciate the time and effort put into this video.
Brilliant Build! Best view !!
Thanks a lot!

Probably the really annoying un necessary music keeps them away
@@-PORK-CHOP- you know you can mute your video right ;)?
Thanks Phil, great job
Great build brother and thanks for the candidness and honesty. Solid work, I’ll be starting my build this month
Nice video! Where did you get/make the build plan? Thinking of making one of these on a trailer..
Thanks for the video! I am approaching the same moment where I want a sauna and I want to diy it. Greetings from Quebec!
Awesome vidéo Phil love the video I'll be using it for my built thanks keep up the great work fellow québécois I'm from gaspesie

Hi Phil. Any updates on this? How's the wood holding up?
Anything that you wish you would change now? I'm working on a similar project atm.

Thanks man! Yes, everything is still together and working fine :)

Thank you for this. You obviously put a lot of effort into this project, thank you for sharing -- merci!
Absolutely Excellent Man, looks great. (Lots of guys will have the "gap error" issue of some sort). Great view.
Great job, please post a follow up video a year or two after build, Im curious on how wet lumber performance as well as strip LEDs.

Great job man! Thinking about buying that same heater. Has it been a good heater for your sauna? Any issues getting it up to temp?
Very good, no issues at all. I went for the bigger model to heat up fast.
How are the LED strips holding up in the heat?
Great video mate, I bet it took as long as the sauna to put together.

A link to the plans that you used would really make this video exceptionally better. Thanks
Nice video, question, how many times do you use it a week and how much did your hydro bill go up ?
How hot can you get the sauna in cold winter days? Any issues getting it to 185F?
Deserves more exposure
Hey I’m trying your build but I can’t find the yellow radius bull nose bit you linked a 1/2 inch one and you used a 3/4
Et puis? Le bois a pas trop travaillé malgré qu'il était vert? Aussi les vices l'ont pas fait trop craquer?
Do you have a build plan for purchase?

I would have square tongue and grove the boards you glued together for the footings. It would have given you more surface area for the glue.
Great idea!
Curious to know the final dimensions... Like total height, width, and length. Great video!
This guyyyy hahaha .. talking about “I’m getting this or that kind of wood” mf it’s a kid … anyone can get one 😂
True!

Very interesting!
That's crushed rock not gravel. Looks like you got road base or d1.
That electrical cable is not burried deep enough. 2' min.
