Hi, I really like how you mix. Do you have any video mixing gates for your kick?
The snare's main issue is the bell-like ring, which drives me nuts. A Transient Designer type plugin is needed to solve that.
Yep! I hear what you're hearing. That's something that I'd address in the context of a full mix so I didn't fix it here, but yes, I'd absolutely tame that.

What kind of mic are you using to make that snare sound so good
That was a 57 on top and bottom, but the biggest trick is simply a well tuned drum! We actually just released an entire masterclass where we teach all about drum tuning, setup and mixing that covers it all in a ton of detail and shows you step-by-step how to do it. What mic did you use to record the snare and the kick?
Snare was just a Shure SM57 and the kick was a Beta 52 placed just inside the hole of the kick drum.

why no sd bottom?
The church we were at just didn’t have one set up, but we just rolled with it. We’ll do another video soon with snare bottom and overheads though!
