So is nitriding not needed after this? Never got a definitive answer on this.

From the research I’ve done nitriding isn’t the only hardening process Mazda did on side plates. Like Kyle said in an older video it was mostly for keeping the plates from rusting.

what about re-nitriding? is that not neccesary?

Can u run the plates without the nitriding? And how that will effect the life of the engine?
