    Well said .
    If the govt is held accountable the taxpayers are the ones paying the price .
    The worst part is you are forced to use the methods the govt recommends .
    Recommendations should not be coerced.
    Today communication network will spread info of solutions .
    If an absolute 💯 percent removal of mites can be acheived the world will know rapidly thanks to you tube etc .

    The challenge of bringing young scientists not affiliated with academia or corporations is economical. How do you attract "talent" in an industry with such a high failure rate that even in success is a medium outcome. Capitalism works but only works with capitol. In the US we can see our issues front and center, but can't do anything against a country run by big corporations (big pharma and AG for two). We've known pesticides are killing both Bees and humans for decades and that's OK? To make Beekeeping profitable, not sustainable, brings the new blood into the industry and grass-root innovation. This has worked since the dawn of man. We need to look at what's historically worked. Ban all foreign imports of honey, introduce a regulated (yeah I know) sticker for products guaranteeing accountability thru chain of custody, no more funny honey. Pollinators, strike against the 5 billion dollar almond crop, they'll fold. The art of the deal is back. Hopefully reforming academic accreditation, FDA and USDA will curb some of the abuse. IMO the biggest problem Bees have, is Beekeepers are too nice...I've put these issues on Bobby's plate.

      The problem is that the market right now isn’t truly free. We need to find ways to open up the market so that smart, innovative individuals can compete with large corporations. Too often, I’ve seen the pesticide industry acquire promising startups with groundbreaking ideas, only to shut them down.

    Umberto, I have a small criticism that I pray is received well, as its intensions are well. I watch all your videos, and love you and your content, yet I'm finding myself very nervous watching your videos. It's almost like your voice is AI generated, or I presume in editing, zero space is being left between sentences as so much as to where the entire video seems as one long sentence.
    Is it just me?

    • @InsideTheHiveTV
      @InsideTheHiveTV  11 днів тому +1

      Not AI at all-just me and my rushed editing. I tend to work too quickly, and I think I sometimes cut the spaces between words too short. I’ll make an effort to improve this moving forward.
      Thank you for pointing it out, and please, never hesitate to share your thoughts or feedback. I genuinely appreciate it!

    What an Akzo episode. Thank you for putting this out there. You truly have an understanding of beekeepers' real-life challenges. I could chat with you for hours about this.

    Bottom line is the solution is to reduce the stresses on the bees and the beekeepers.

    • @bestlimotx4039
      @bestlimotx4039 11 днів тому

      Yes, the more you move bees around the more stressed they are.The foulbrood disease is one of the consequences. Also try not to keep 2 year old breed comb (dark black comb with remaining cocoon shells) . Each year gradually replace part of it with a new white comb. It will reduce harmful infections and viral load.

    Brilliant!!!!
    As a product and service provider in the ag community and who is directly responsible for my advice and actions; it amazes me how many customers still choose the advice from government or university "experts" who have no skin in the game or never experience the pain of failure.
    You hit the nail on the head! It is our fault as a society that we put so much trust in them. Our public school system is a perfect example.
    Keep it up!!!

    Hello, and happy new year, Humberto. Very thought-provoking presentation. Will you be at the Western PA Conference? It would be great to catch up. Publicly funded research programs, and grants, are always interesting. I've often wondered what the benefit is, even if the hypothesis is proven. Australia is definitely going through growing pains. Wishing you all the best, thumbs up as always :)

    • @InsideTheHiveTV
      @InsideTheHiveTV  10 днів тому

      Unfortunately, I won't be at the conference. It seems inevitable. Australia will learn-some lessons will come the hard way, while others might be a little easier to bear. That’s just how the world works. Many beekeepers will succumb to the challenges, yet some will survive and rise to take their place. Nature is indifferent, often cruel, but resilience has a way of carving out its own path. Thanks for the good vibes. Cheers

    Is american foul brood a serious problem? Because I have been beekeeping for six teen years and have never had a problem with it. I have however had a problem with Varoe mites like everyone else. So why the push to vaccinate for American foul brood if I don't have a problem? Should we not be focusing on our biggest problem Varoa mites? Dalan should be looking for solution to get rid of Varoe.

    The biggest threat to beekeeping is economic. Stagnant pollination prices and a flood of cheap adulterated honey are key drivers. Mites actually have helped create value.

    Academic institutions have become some kind of scientific paper production facilities and are concerned on securing grants and funds rather than delving into the problems in the field.

    Wow , you come out swinging , as you know I come from Australia 🇦🇺, good to hear that the experts were wrong , a lot of bee keepers in NSW , were very pissed off , has now got into Victorla my state up north , not sure if I will keep doing beekeeping , many people want honey without chemicals in it , I just pray that varroa will get eradicated , can't understand that it's been around for 40 years and no cure at all . I would like scientists around the world to take the goal of explaining what a vital and fat bee is, and what a worn and skinny bee is. Why does the interruption of the brood after honey harvesting ("rest for the bees") give excellent results throughout Europe in overwintering colonies? How is it possible that a bee in a standing hive lives for about 40 days and 180 days. Why? With which of these two bees do we enter winter. Why can a summer bee live up to 120 days and more, in the case of failed queens in the nuclei and the appearance of fake queens. Is the research focused on a real problem in beekeeping? How do diseases manifest themselves in one or the other bee in the hive???????
    It would be interesting to see if someone from the scientific community would make a graph of the flow of vitalogenin and fatty substances in the bee over a year and supplement the popular graph by Mr. Randy Oliver.

    What we have in the beekeeping industry, whether it be commercial or a small operator, the people who are stuck in their ways and have been for many decades. They pass this down to new beekeepers.
    This is the way it's done and always will be, or you can't do it like that. I've also kept livestock and I've looked at the big picture were animal welfare is needed, science and new ideas do work.

    Sadly any cost effective solution created by government or educational programs are quickly hidden by big businesses. Thanks for your work. I am trying vaccinated queens where i can find them.

    Seems like Europe is ahead of the American bee keepers, sadly big groups with three letters make the rules, sad.

    Challenging status-quo and pot stirring is what I do for a living. Without friction people/companies/academics/industries become complacent. I love it!! It can be done straight and responsibly like you do in the video!! Well done! It is ok to feel uncomfortable, too many people fear change. Learning, growing and improving comes with trying new things, testing your hypothesis, it comes with risk and discomfort. Folks with skin in the game tend to do it more effectively with a more practical approach and ask much harder questions. This is where the magic of collaboration comes in. WIITFTB :) What's in it for the beekeeper (or the bees).

    Please, treat or no treat beekeepers, Keep accurate records of your mite counts, and field conditions. If something changes for the good or the bad, you can trace the problem in a coherent timeline. Please keep records on your bees and conditions.

    Umberto: Science Institutions _need_ income on stable ground so that their science is not prone to corruption. On the other side: bee industrie should never do science and advise because they only want to and need to sell their products and services, the long term development od enviranment, climate, health is non of their concerns. Here politics comes in and gives frameworks in which the industrie can get rich (status: Porsche, Luxury, status watches expensive clothings, yachts, ..) Think about it most scietific guys don't dream of luxury yachts, PÜorsches etc. many industrie managers do!
    Now: the problem with advise: you pay for what you get. If you want advise free of charge go to them scientists, but they add a caveat: not proven, try it on your own risks ... To rap it up: yes you are right in some points you make in your video, but you are so off topic if not simply not true in many other points we have to be mindful of ..

      .. and with all business/indistry , some successful guys are just lucky and do not know why- nor can you get a grip of what exactly makes them successgul in the first place, because all beekeeping is local and very complex.
