cool fact: here in Brazil we call the giant anteaters Tamanduá Bandeira and they are such an important species in our fauna, would love if you could name one after his Portuguese name (Tamanduá)
I don't know about jaguar genetic irl or in the game, but if it works anything like real life snake genetics, you might not get a mel cub from the adults you have, but if you breed one of their cubs with a mel in the future about 50% of the babies should inherit that gene making them melanistic.
I like to imagine that Prince Forgotten Path periodically wanders of the habitat and all the expedition member are used to having to catch him and put him in back.
