A review, walkthrough and demo of Yonac Zodiak Taurus “Mega Octavizer”. This is a really versatile repitching fx with some nice features, capable of being very clean or really gritty. Not just for guitars or bass, this can be used on synths, samples, loops, vocals or other inputs. If you are watching in the first 2 days of release of this video, note that I have giveaways for 4 people to win copies of any Yonac apps over on my Patreon. My Patreon is very active, there are loads of exclusive vids, AUM session files and other goodies there. I put a lot of work into it, it is not just a tip jar for my UA-cam channel. 🟡 Check it out at patreon.com/Gavinski - there is a free tier too, btw, where there are occasionally posts and even the odd giveaway. The $5 tier has tons of iOS giveaways and exclusive vids, the $10 tier adds AUM session file access, presets and desktop plugin giveaways Taurus AppStore Link: apps.apple.com/app/zodiak-taurus-mega-octavizer/id6624294633 Apart from Patreon, a good way to support me is by using my Plugin Boutique link when you buy desktop plugins: 🟡 www.pluginboutique.com/?a_aid=65c7016dea38b One-off donations are also super gratefully received. Zodiak Taurus is not your grandparents' octavizer. Zodiak Taurus is a mammoth multi-voice beast that takes the puniest tone and turns it into full frontal sonic assault. Slap it on your guitars, drums, bass, vocals, or even your keyboards. Then let Taurus elevate your sound. Taurus generates five independent voices - or reconstructions - of your input signal in realtime. These voices together span a whopping five octaves. With a few tweaks, you can double track your guitar, add a bass, a sub bass, and even a high frequency overtone. The result is a big, spacious sound that covers the whole stereo field. But that's only the beginning, because this is a Zodiak effect. To sweeten the pot, each Taurus voice features its very own saturation stage (tuned specifically for it); a detune control for obtaining non-octave intervals or even natural chorus or ADT effects; a regenerative delay stage that can be used for staggering the voices, changing their timbre, or even causing them to self oscillate; an attack envelope that can have each voice fade in at different rates; a tuned EQ submodule, as well as stereo panning and other parameters - all collected in a familiar mixer-like interface. Newly developed algorithms deliver crystal clear signal reconstruction, and operate so efficiently that Taurus is as responsive when playing live as it is well-behaved in the studio. A special post-FX module includes cabinet simulators, room emulation, variable EQ, and compression to produce an easy to use, all-in-one audio solution. Zodiak Taurus also works as an AUv3 effects plugin on your iPad, iPhone, and Silicon Mac computer. It comes with over 60 factory presets to start you off in your journey, as well as many other advanced features like patch save/share, MIDI learn, and more. The latest offering in Yonac's new Zodiak series of effects, Taurus is jam packed with sonic easter eggs. Whether your goal is to emulate diverse instruments, create enormous walls of sound, or paint complexly layered psychedelic soundscapes, Taurus has a roadmap for you somewhere across its controls.
Thank you haha. I rarely get tips, but if more people signed up to my Patreon, it would make it more likely I can continue doing this work in a serious way. Currently that is looking highly doubtful.
At first Taurus was very grumpy ...grrruummmp ... now is purring like an old tom , great app , this one sure has the sound I need to shake the dust off my walls 🔊
It’s true folks he’s got a good relationship with the developers, and great exclusive content. This is good stuff Gav. I’m going to look at the setting closer for that flute that was awesome
Nice that you brought it in the experimental realm. :) At first I thought, hmm, another pitch shifter... But the combination of effects make it quite interesting.
Hey buddy, yes, I was kinda 'yawn, boring' but after playing around with it and trying it on different things, I realised it was a lot cooler than I thought it would be.
This looks fantastic. It looks like a really interesting way to process an acoustic instrument. Would I be able to play live through this? And or run a recorded track through it?
Minus the saturation, seems like a really capable pitch shifter. Something I think that would be cool, is to set up Zodiak Taurus instances in Drambo and fade between morph pads with different intervals set, so one can play them like WhammyDT/Ricochet presets. Or I suppose, an envelope could be assigned to a specific range on the pitch knobs, and mapped to an expression pedal. Either way, cool way to access Whammy tones on the cheap 🚀
That sounds cool, yes, this is, I think, a really clean-sounding pitch shifter. Many people seem to have got the wrong end of the stick that this is for rock, metal etc only. Definitely not!

Cheers doc, and thanks for your Patreon support - yes, the delayed pitches can be beautiful, for sure
Their Octavizer effect in ToneStack has always been very useful. Might have to check this one out. Thank you for the demo!😊
No problem!
Siempre el más claro de la web al mostrar software!
gracias!
Thanks for the very helpful demonstration!👍🏽🧔🏼🙏🏽
Pleasure Heinz, good to see you here!

Sure, you can do both!
Bought this with the intention of trying it out to create harmonic goodness on basslines to make ‘em translate across playback sources. 🤞
Good use case for it, yes 🔥

Ooh... interesting versatile effect: fine and coarse grit.
Yes Roland, better than I expected for sure 🔥
i was going to ban myself from new apps for a while but i might have to make an exception for this one
Well, have fun with it!
When too gritty isn’t gritty enough! Don’t deny me my grit, I’m a cockatoo…
Loool
Very nice. Want
Nice walkthrough, Gavin, you helped me with my decision. Thank you for the free content, I hope you have a great summer. 🤩🫶
Cheers Goran! What was your decision BTW?
@@GavinskisTutorials I decided it’s great FX, and it will be acquired in the near future! 👍😅
