Glad to see you staying upright and healed up, it seems your ride is rather shy! 🤭 You got four days to tame her… Lovely gravel roads wow. What events does SD host?
Thank you! Originally known as the Gold Rush Gravel Grinder, an event I rode way back in 2014, I cannot recommend this Spearfish-based event. It is what I consider an OG event, hosted by Perry Jewett. Nowadays, the event is known as Pine Island Gravel - www.pineislandgravel.com
I can see a lot of appeal to an organized, catered trip like this. You can unencumber yourself from planning all the logistics, food... lodging. AND you're free to ride without all the heavy gear as when bikepacking... just ride along and enjoy the scenery. AND you can have a suitcase full of clothing and gear... something you need to trim way back on when bikepacking. How did you like the Checkpoint? I got the SL5 a year ago and I'm still just as in love as when it was brand new.
Hello there, these trips are amazing. Completely switch off and ride. As you allude to, I brought along every conceivable combination of kit, THREE pairs of shoes, and more :) Really like the Checkpoint, more so this time around. Not enough to post a review, but I am thinking Trek is working on a new version?
This is great! Hope to see more of the trip!
Day 2 is coming soon.
General madness so good!
Great video JOM
Thank you Craig, Day 2 drops in the early am tomorrow.
Oh my! The general madness of bike abuse! Wonderful video and chomping at the bit for more!
Nice gravel, perfect for your channel! Would have loved to see the old T-lab crunching along … 😊
Nice

Nice
Once I have bent a derailleur hanger doing that.😢
#1 cause of bent derailleur hangers for me, taking bike selfies.

Nice shake up ride! When did this event take place?
Hello there, this inaugural tour for Trek Travel began on June 16, 2024. Day 2 is posting shortly!
Need dog chase, lol.
Spotted plenty of Bison, Chipmunks, Praire Dogs, but no fido's.
