- Maxpedition 12" x 5" Water Bottle Cooking Kit
This video is a rundown of my current cooking setup. It's not perfect yet but I have a few Ideas on how to improve it but if you have any suggestions I'd love to read them down in the comments!

I’d add a small plastic spoon to go with the spice box. Watching your video after a while again. Nice kit.
Great idea! 👍
Love your cook kit.
The 3D printed spice container is brilliant.
Thanks - simple and works!
Wow haven’t seen one of those salt shakers for years. Brought back a few memories when I saw that. Great quality vid 👍
Yup - I liberated that from a 10 man ration pack some 25 years ago 😄
Great review brother. Keep them coming.
Thanks! Will do!
Your videos are such high quality, can't believe you're channel isn't bigger. But it's getting there keep the good work up.
Hahaha - Thanks Ben - I hoping it will start to take off in 2017 - I've made most of my mistakes now and the quality is much better than previous years :) Still lots to learn for sure.
More adventures, Michael!! Show us Alberta! ☺
I love that you actually get out and use your gear. I remember when that Stanley cup was shiny and new. Interested to see how the Toaks in the background there, makes its way into the kit.
A sharp eyed viewer indeed :) The Stanley cup has been great and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a simple cook pot system and at $30 how can you go wrong. The TOAKS will be making an outing soon and perhaps a head to head with a Solo stove? ;)
Nice little kit you have there.
Thanks 👍
Good looking set up. Have you thought about adding a GSI Glacier mug? The Stanley pot will nest inside and not add any bulk. That would free up the inside of the pot for more storage. I have added a couple of instant oatmeal packets to my kit as emergency rations.
The GSI cup is a great idea but after burning my lips many years ago on titanium mugs I stayed away from single wall drinking vessels. I know you can get the lip protects now but I really like them "little cups" lol. But you are right I should ditch them really. Oatmeal is another fine idea. Back in my military days we had oatmeal blocks you could eat as is or add water with a milk & suger packet to create a porridge. I'd love to get hold of some of those again. Thanks for commenting Mark - I see your channel is growing well!
Oh yeah and that Stanley pot is great. I wanted one but thought the cups were heavy. Looks like you got one with lighter cups. Maybe they got the message they were to heavy. Thanks again
Perhaps - I also like the Stanley pot - for the money its hard to beat!
Hey man great video. I would recommend ziplock snack baggies of oatmeal, almond butter and coconut oil. Great high calorie multipurpose foods. Oh yeah and a vile of real honey. Another underestimated food/medicine etc
Thanks Corey - that's a great tip!

Sorry dude :-p
I made a kit to have in the vehicle when I take out for a day. Using a Condor H20 pouch. Starting at the bottom of the of the pouch there is a Oilcamp Stainless Steel Space Saver Cup. Then the Stanley Adventure Cook Camp System which fits ( sits ) inside the cup. The tapered sides of the Stanley Camp Cook kit fits inside the cup like it was made for it. Along the outside of the Stanley is a long handled Titanium spoon. Inside the Stanley is the Gen2 Folding Firebox Nano Ultralight Backpacking 3" Stove. On top of the Stanley is a Trangia Alcohol burner so I can cook with either alcohol or wood. The outside pocket of the Condor has a plastic ( Flask shaped ) 8 oz bottle which has the Denatured Alcohol for the Trangia. Next to it is a fero rod for
lighting the burner or starting a fire. Folded next to the fero rod is a bandana which can be used if the handles of either pot gets to hot for a bare hand to touch. A few months later I added two canteen pouches one on each side of the Condor H20 pouch. One pouch has a Nalgene canteen in it and the other pouch has a couple dehydrated meals. Thanks to using a wood fire the Stanley has a nice blacken bottom and sides which I think helps it to heat up quicker.
Hi Chuck - that sounds like a great setup - everything you need to get cooking in almost any situation. The stanley cook set is great for the money and the way you describe the nesting, it sound perfect for the cup. Thanks for commenting!
good video, good use of your pack, I think the salt contain that you made is good, you`ll be building a house soon.
All in good time ;)
Enjoy Viewing other outdoor ppl's set ups...very interesting with some good ideas...you sure like you cup of soup , eh ? lol
cheers ...subbed yah .
Thanks for the sub Kanzee - Yup Cuppa soup for the win! ;)
Michael, for your printed four compartment spice container it looks like it might be a bit tricky to pour out individual amounts easily. Have you thought about adding a thin relatively translucent plastic cover with a narrow opening which would widen as you rotate it around? I have a maxpedition pouch or two and they are quality products. Nice succinct video but I miss Esmeralda!
Hi Greg - I agree with you - some easy way to poor the stuff out will be on mark II of the spice holder. It makes sense now I look at it! Esme will be on the next video for sure! Thanks again for some great comments!
If I don’t mind asking, what is the company that made that waterproof bag been looking for something close to it.
That roll top bag was from Exped - they make great bags. Also check out Sea to Summit 👍
@@TheEmporiumOutdoors thank you, just subscribed
You need a Trangia Spirit Burner in there and a small bottle of fuel... Great when You don't want smoke 😁
Good call! 👍
@@TheEmporiumOutdoors I always carry a p-25 military can opener in My kit..
How bout a link for the stove?👍 Looks like a great folding stove.
Hi Rick - that was a home made stove from my friend! Sorry can't buy those 😧
You need a stainless steel water bottle. I have the Guyot Design Backpacker model which fits perfectly inside the empty Stanley pot (its tapered just like the Stanley). Also ditch those plastic cups and add a GSI cup to the top of the bottle. You still have room on top for your bag of soups and spices.
Thats a fine idea! I do like the cups though :) LOL
Great video!
Thanks Bert! :)
you should print a perforated lid for the spice box so you can she the contents out
Thanks a good idea - I was thinking more of keeping the moisture out but an inner top with holes would work!
Hi! I want to buy one but i dont know if my toaks 750ml is going to fit inside. What do you think about this?
Hi Adrian - As I recall you can get the pot in but its hard to get t out again. Take a look at the Stanley Cook Set - This fits perfectly!
@@TheEmporiumOutdoors thank you! I will have a look
mike, a great video again ,much info ,
Thanks Ron :)
Mike, the Ribz Front Pack are they still made ? very hard to find , thanks again for great Info , Ron
Hi Ron - I did email the company and got no response a while back....so I'm not sure. I hope not as I will need a replacement at some point! Great product.
Mike, thanks again ..Ron
You should sell the 3D printed spice jar! I'd buy a few!
You can download it for free from the www.the-emporium.ca 👍
I guess you are in Canada?
Indeed - Alberta 🇨🇦
Cool video
Thank you Dean - I'm glad you liked it!
👍🏻
Thanks James!
Does it come in black?
Yup - www.maxpedition.com/products/12-x-5-bottle-holder?variant=27894164241
Downside is no carry-strap included too
True - everything is a payed for extra with Maxpedition! ;)
Who's 'Herb'?? 😁😁
Ray - You watch more UA-cam than I do!
@@TheEmporiumOutdoors , I don't have as many toys as you do!!
The price is s downside, too. All you need is the bag inside the Maxpedition bag. If you want a bag cooking set, buy the new Pathfinder bottle set. It looks to me like you're just wasting the Maxpedition bag.
Hi James - I take your point and if I was lightweight backpacking the Maxpedition gear would stay at home - way too heavy. It's convenient to put all the things in one place for general use however. I wont buy Pathfinder gear for personal reasons. Thanks for commenting.
