    Great review and nice to see the side by side. That 12x5 is huge!

    Still the best review on this pouch. Kudos. I'm extremely pissed at Max that they don't offer it in Ranger Green anymore (which is outright daft in my book). They don't even make them in OD anymore.

    Not sure if another poster has already chimed in, but the hook you didn’t know the name of is called a HK Hook (referencing the German firearms manufacturer). Well done reviews.

    Nice vid
    I have the Condor version of the 10"x4 - find it has a little more give in it as well as being a lot cheaper (but still very well made) - so if you think the Max Exp puoch is a little expensive there are alternatives out there. I have the Max 12"x5" though as I have not seen anything else that size for my cook set.

    • @sylla2
      @sylla2 6 років тому

      Yes. Getting the Condor H2O Carrier is the only way to go, unless you have far too much money to spend :-) Half the price but still very decent quality.

    I always wonder how useful a drainhole is, if everyone puts nesting cups at the bottom.

    Condor make a 10"x 4" bottle pouch
    Much less expensive, but no where near the quality of Maxpedition
    But a serious contender as it Much less money
    In the Condor, I carry a pop stove and a small bottle of fuel plus a brew kit
    in the front pocket
    And an Olicamp adoodized 24 oz mug is inside

    • @sylla2
      @sylla2 6 років тому

      Yes, the Condor is half the price of the insanely overpriced Maxpedition 10x4, which is currently selling for £ 43!! But it's not half bad! Not at at all.

    Great video ! Tomorrow should receive two 10"x 4" Maxpedition Bottle Pouches from AR500 ! You could put one cup on the bottom of the water bottle and another on the top... For two cups in the Bottle Pouch ! Also looks like a lot of room for Tea Bags ! Have the Plastic Naglene Bottle and may get the SS (Stainless Steel) bottle with the sexy lip... The Bottle Bagws will be a great addition to the Survival Belt. Tethered to my Swedish Fire Steel is a large yellow plastic Hanson Pencil Sharpener from Home Depot to make tinder from a twig or Fatwood ! The SS or Ti Cups can be had from REI or any out door store... tjl

      @PackedToLive  7 років тому

      I've changed out my SS cups for Titanium pots now, but the same applies as regards the 10"x4" and 12"x5" bottle pouches... twin cup nesting perfectly :)

    • @timlipinski2571
      @timlipinski2571 7 років тому

      OOPs, my 10"x 4" Bottle Pouch tag said Made in China/Condor... From AR500 ! And did not have the snap clip that the Maxpedition Pouch had. Picked up a Nalgene Bottle in plastic and maybe later in Stainless Steel for the sexy lip... (BPA/BPS FREE plastic) Also Sea to Summit have cups that collapse flat. Think my Titanium Cup has a couple of Gas Cannistors in the cup and packed with the Snow Peak stove burner. tjl

    • @sylla2
      @sylla2 6 років тому

      So.. Tim Lipinski .. Did you send them back or did you keep them? The Condor H2O carrier is a very decent alternate to the insanely overpriced Maxpedition 10x4, currently selling for 43 £. The Condor is half the price but the quality is not half bad, if you ask me.

      I can't say for sure as I don't own a Kelly Kettle (of any size). You need to check the diameter against the interior diameter of the bottle pouch.

    Your review stimulated me to buy one of my own (Maxpedition 12x5, Klean Kanteen 40) for myself. I couldn't quite make out what your were saying when you pulled out your burner, can you spell it out for me (make, model)? Thanks!

    • @PackedToLive
      @PackedToLive  8 років тому

      No problem at all... the stove is a Trangia Meths Stove. You can find them here: amzn.to/2gtRH0U
      The cups are the Tatonka Folding Handle Mugs. You can find them here: amzn.to/2fFk0HD
      And you already know about the pouch and the 40oz Klean Kanteen :)

    • @txmichaels
      @txmichaels 8 років тому

      Thank you for the info and your quick reply - very much appreciated. I ordered the Trangia Stove, but went with a GSI Glacier cup (to save a buck or two...). I must say the Maxpedition 12x5 bottle pouch along with 2" strap and shoulder pad, Klean Kanteen 40oz, cup and stove set me back a few pesos! But it is shaping up to be a nice package - can't wait to get all together and I just remembered you had a matchless method of firing up the stove. What was that piece of gear?

    • @PackedToLive

      That's a good ol' fashioned "Ferro rod". They're cheap and easily available... just remember to get one with a decent striker, or use the spine of your knife as a striker if you prefer.

    I just ordered the maxpedition condor 2 rucksack and the 10x4 bottle pouch to molly on to it. I will be using it for the range and pigeon shooting. I have a klean kanteen 27 oz with the optional plastic drinking spout. Can I assume it will fit okay then? Also did you say you reviewed the condor 2? I can't seem to find it on your channel.

    • @PackedToLive
      @PackedToLive  9 років тому

      +srspower Yes, the 27 oz will fit but there's a lot of spare room. I think I need to reupload the Condor-II review as for some reason it was taken down (no idea why, there wasn't any music or anything in it)

    • @PackedToLive
      @PackedToLive  7 років тому +1

  • @adventureswithfrodo2721
    @adventureswithfrodo2721 6 років тому

    It seems you forgot a pot stand? So not sure how good your kit is?

    • @PackedToLive
      @PackedToLive  6 років тому

      I don't carry a pot stand in this setup (unnecessary bulk and weight). I use three L-shaped tent pegs. And yes, this setup works extremely well and has done for many years now.

    • @adventureswithfrodo2721
      @adventureswithfrodo2721 6 років тому

      Packed To Live that sounds good. Seen it but never tried may have to do that now.

    • @PackedToLive
      @PackedToLive  6 років тому

      Just be aware that using tent pegs as a pot stand can be slightly problematic on soft ground (especially when it's saturated with water).
      I have, on occasion, tapped the tent pegs into a tree stump (or even a chopping block, once or twice) to provide a solid base on soft earth.
      It's just a good way of avoiding the need to carry the additional bulk and weight of a dedicated pot stand, which only has the one purpose.
      I'm quite big on the "it must have at least two uses or what's the point?" approach.
      Soon as I am able to get back out there (I'm suffering some serious health issues at the moment, and combined with my day job - which keeps me busy 6 days a week, 12 hours a day - it makes it difficult for me to find any time what-so-ever to get out and film) I think it would be a good idea for me to do a video on my go-to loadout, to give people a complete picture of what I actually take and why.
      I also have a backlog of footage for other videos I still need to find time to finish editing, but by the time I'm done with my work, and have taken my evening doses of medication, I simply lack the energy (and the will) to sit at a screen editing footage together.
      Anyway, hope you find the info useful, and definitely worth giving it a go with the tent pegs as a pot stand :)

      Packed To Live I have s stand that is windscreen and pot stand and weights an oz. Any more I am just more convinced to carry my cartridge stove.

    Dude!! 43 £ for the 10x4 is not "well worth the money"!! Not unless you're insane or have far too much money to spend!! I'm going to get me 2 Condor H2O carriers instead. They'll last me my lifetime easily - And the quality is quite decent even!!
    However, thank you for the review. Apart from the complete nonsense about the price, the video was very informative and useful :-) Good job. Thanks for sharing!

    • @PackedToLive
      @PackedToLive  6 років тому +1

      Money is relative, right? What I consider to be a worthwhile pricetag, others may not (and vice-versa).
      Having had far too much Condor kit fail me (and spending far more overall replacing cheap, badly-made kit) I consider the pricetag to be worth it compared to carting broken kit back home, and paying more in the long-run to replace it all.

      Packed To Live : Dude, sorry for being rude earlier. My outburst was not directed at you but at Maxpedition. I apologise!
      You'll be surprised to hear that I actually do own the Maxpedition 12x5 bottle holder. I must have acquired it at a point in my life where money wasn't an issue :-)
      I stumbled upon your video because I wanted to expand my system with 2 of the smaller Maxpedition bottle holders. But this time, I guess I've grown more responsible when it comes to money :-) Again, I don't mean any disrespect!
      Keep them videos coming!!

    I bought the knockoff from China for $6 and I'm shocked at the quality of it. The only difference I can see from the Maxpedition is the fake has two 1inch molle straps built onto it to fasilitate weaving it onto palls. Yeah, imsure the material is better on the real thing but for $50 I can buy 8 knockoffs and my grandkids wont have to fight over them as long as they don't get left in the fire.
    On top of the quality of it it's available in many colors Maxpedition doesn't offer. Actually, just about any camo pattern imaginable. Well worth $6.

    lol.. every time you say meth stove i'm put off. soo.. besides the obvious meth reference a spirit stove is more an Ethanol stove then a Methanol stove. so if your just saying it for the funny reference to methamphetamines then ok. but i'm not getting that. you say it as if your referring to Methanol. however maybe i'm just being a wanker because a spirit burner will burn either. your just the only person i've ever heard referring to it as a meth stove.
