He played at a base I visited in Iraq 2004-2005 with his guitarist just as courtesy of the red white and blue debuted. On his own dime and base hopping in a Blackhawk before the main concert in Kuwait he shook as many hands as he could, praised us constantly, and was a genuine good guy. Of course the base we were at was an armored cav base and all of them broke out white stetsons, except us lol, we had just delivered a convoy. Toby Keith is at the top of the list of good memories from there just because someone from back home took the time to give us a boost without any thought of himself. Glad to have him back.
