I married my soldier 57 years ago and lost him 9 months ago. He served his 4 years in Vietman, but he was still a soldier the day he died. I just listened to Trace Adkins sing this song again. I'm still, and will always be, the wife of my soldier. My thanks every time I hear this song.
I’m sorry for your loss mam. I salute your husband and I salute you..thank you both for your service.
My heart goes out to you❤
GOD BLESS AMERICA!
I hope somebody told him welcome home out of every war we have fought they were the ones that did not receive praise they were spat on criticized and demonized I hope that somebody in his life told him welcome home I try and say that to every vet that comes my way because it doesn't matter if you fought world war 1 world war 2 Vietnam Desert Storm or any other major conflict that has happened I don't tell them thank you for your service no I tell them welcome home and I pray that anyone who has eyes says the same thing for it is not the battles they have fought in that makes it noteworthy but the blood tears and pain they have suffered to keep the rest of us from having to experience the hardships they have so to your soldier the next time you visit his grave tell him from me welcome home
Bless for England obviously respect to hubby

From an Army brat it is the one thing about my dad that I am proud of.
Been out since 2012. There isn’t a day goes by when my body doesn’t ache. I fought for an ungrateful and apathetic nation that seems to be going to hell in a hand basket, but damn it I’d do it all again in a heartbeat. I’m still a soldier.
Thank you for your sacrifices, not just in the service, but throughout your life.
Have you listened to, Am I the Only One by Aaron Lewis?
It fits with your opinion about our Country and I agree with you 100% when you speak about the shape our Country's in!!
My Husband is a Marine, as well as his Dad who

Tell our enemies to behave and not take over other countries or US and we'll stay home.
We wish we could do more:
for the farmers being slaughtered in South Afrika,
the Coptics being slaughtered in Egypt,
take down the DMZ unifying Korean like we did the Iron Curtain, etc.

a Soldier always
PS we do much more than just fight on the battle field.
When my recruiter asked me why I wanted to enlist in the Army I think my answer surprised him. I said "this country has given me all I could ever ask. Good schools, a safe place to grow up, freedom. I think it's time I repaid some of that." My dad was with me and I heard him sniffle a bit. It took the sergeant a minute to respond and when he did he looked at my dad and said "I wish more of my recruits felt that way." Unfortunately an eye issue kept me from serving, something I have regretted ever since. It would have been an honor and a privilege to be able to wear my country's uniform.
Thank you even though you didn't serve you still tried you deserve it

Great song. My son was a member of the 82nd Airborne, 1-505th PIR. Medically (honorably) discharged from injuries thanks to an IED. PTSD is also a problem, but he is a guide for the wounded veterans of Oklahoma by taking them hunting on weekends during waterfowl seasons. Our daughter-in-law sees that it helps him also. His issues with PTSD aren't close to what they used to be. God bless all of our troops.
@Trace Darrell Adkins I'm a little hesitant to do that and I don't know how to be sure I'm not getting hacked by someone claiming to be you. Thank you so much! I loved the role you played in the movie "Lifted".
@Jon Hillard Thank you Jon, and please pass along our thanks to him as well. Our son's biggest injuries are the kind you can't see, and it breaks my heart that he can't get the help he needs. We are so grateful for the daughter we gained the day she married our son in 2012. We live 500 miles apart, and it's easier for us to travel than it is for them with 3 kids. He will open up to his dad rather than me, but our daughter-in-law tells me things so that I know what he is going through also. We never judge, and he knows he can talk to us, at least he can his dad. Take care Jon!
I will pray for your son. God bless him.

357 mag... it's not your training that you may forget that matters, it's your oath to this country that you should never forget.
I returned from a tour of duty in Vietnam in 1971. When we landed, over 150 war protesters greeted us from behind the airport fence, just 50 feet away from the plane. About 20 MPs were stationed along the fence for security. It wasn't until 1986 that the city of Chicago finally decided to hold a "Welcome Home" parade for Vietnam veterans. At the time, I was working in downtown Chicago, so I was able to join the parade and march alongside others from the 1st Aviation Brigade in Vietnam. To my amazement, and the city's, 200,000 people participated in the parade, with an estimated 500,000 spectators lining the streets. The city had only planned for a maximum of 10,000 people, both in the parade and watching it, so traffic was tied up for hours and they were not happy. It was an incredible experience.

Proud daughter of a Marine who later joined the Air Force, career military, proud adopted mom of an Army Blackhawk instructor Soldier. Generations have served this country but we don't acknowledge the debt we owe them. Wake up America, FREEDOM ISN'T FREE it takes courage and blood and loneliness and treasure and it takes strong supportive families to help our military serve with honor. Pray for our beloved nation and support where you can. Lastly, say Thank You!

Thank you for giving encouragement to the younger generation of soldiers!!!!!!!
@Michael Jarrett And that's why I respect veterans above politicians, the oath sworn was more than just a job, it was "the job must be done." My Great Uncles and Grandfather waded into the hell that was WWII, my Father served during Vietnam, many friends/family since then. Being willing to die for the freedom I enjoy today, simply, means that I will always stand with you over those demanding I bow to their politics.
@Michael Jarrett My Dad was radar, Granddad an MP, great Uncle was Tank Commander, they were the same, just buckle down and get the job done, it's a way of life for them (or was for two) and for me.
@Trace Adkins Please don't insult our intelligence as this account joined just days ago, uses language and formatting that Trace would not use, and is just fishing for a way to use people.
Once a soldier, always a soldier. If it's in your blood you can never get it out.
I dunno about that. I got a friend who literally never talks about it and says it was just a former job.
It's tough to separate it once you get out, I was an MA in the Navy (military police), now that I am out, it is tough for me to not put people in their place when need be.

The path to freedom and safety is paved with blood, sweat, and tears.
God bless those who served and died serving.
I was at a billy Joel concert Memorial Day weekend and he did “Goodnight Saigon” when he got to the chorus the lights came up and veterans past and present were behind him arm in arm. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house and the chants of USA afterwards was amazing.
With the exception of 2, all the men of my family (by birth and marriage) were/are veterans. And proud to serve their country.
My elderly(now passed) relatives, in particular my Dad, were like that meme on the Internet of the elderly man hunched over and walking with a cane away from one of the memorials in Washington DC. Behind him is his shadow, but walking erect, in combat gear, with a pew pew on his shoulder, ready to answer the call if his country needed him again.
Dad would have been 96 if he had lived 5 more months.

They visit their old neighborhoods of see from and family and one their own kind shoots them out of jealousy but if a police officer pulled them over which would most likely be in the state of the team they play for so even better odds they'd get a pass and asked for a picture and autograph. Because they get play sports for outrageous contracts and live lives only most Americans can dream of and the whole reason they get to is because of the flag that represents the same nation their so called protesting made upload statistics mors white then Latin men are shot daily by police usually for good reasons. But black men are killed daily or more likely to be by other black men. But these disgraceful athletes kneel for the Most un-racist or hateful song and we'll our national most important song that is about our for Father's and everyone who serves but people supporting these athletes call them hero's for being hateful but if they'd listen to the anthem they'd learn what @ hero is not someone who wears pads.and thing their warriors. The only warriors on the field are wearing the uniforms of our military wave or holding flags.

I gave an oath to protect and defend never will I forget those who were by my side. This song speaks so much truth. Once a soldier always a soldier. My heart goes out to those who never made it back and for the families of the fallen.. From one veteran to all fellow veterans never forget who we are and thank you for your service
I have cousins on the wall, brother in Arlington, I served 20 and would bleed and die today for America. Blessed to be free. It never goes away, I cry when I hear the anthem and pray for those who never came home. I love this land.
My birth father is a retired soldier now a truck driver driving round the country today. This song feels different to me every time I listen to it.
A lot of us were drivers. It makes a good income and you're not closed in.
Lots of former military are/have been law enforcement officers, too-serving our country at home.
No one ever relieves us of our oath, they just relieve of us of active duty.
Thank you for your service Sir!!!
You damn right! I served in 2 different branches..I may not be in uniform anymore but I promise you that oath still stands!!!
Thank you
@@SykesFW what two ? And thank you for your service

My husband served 23 years before retiring almost 4 years ago. I miss the life but I love being with him everyday more. He still carries himself the same way and I don't think that will ever go away.
As a mother of four boys serving ( 3 active - 1 out now ) this song means a lot to me . Thank you ❤🇺🇸
This is such a perfect song for all soldiers. I never served in the American Army. But I did serve my country in Canada in the Canadian Military for 35 years. I just retired 26 December 2021. I felt lost for awhile but I will always be a soldier. I have done 3 tours in Bosnia, 1 in Somolia, 1 in the Middle East and 2 tours in Afghanistan. Anyway love Trace Adkins wish he would come to Canada I would love to see him.

People don't give enough respect to any War Veteran. Thank you for all you people that served and serve for our country seriously thank you
24 years old still Filipino soldier..
Every once in a while I have to listen to this song.I'm a US Army Veteran myself and these vocals mean so much to me.No matter how long I've been out of the Army , I'm still a soldier each and every day.I don't know where I'd be today without the values and discipline I learned from the military.Although my family and I made so many sacrifices during my deployments , I'd do it all over again if I had too.You can take the soldier out of the Army , but you can't take the Army out of the soldier.
What MOS were you in? I want to join the rangers when I turn 17 but right now I am 10.
I listen to this also been out 54 years now . Still a soldier I've told my wife I want this song played at my funeral .
@drewjamison734 I am a 25U. Choose a 17 series MOS, though it will be something different. Go cyber, or intelligence, somewhere in that vein, so that you have back-ups and safety nets in case you don't like the military lifestyle. If you do, keep on trucking, but if you don't want to choose a safe option. Choose what speaks to you, and remember that you still have to follow the army doctrine for whatever you want to do. Look into TMs or technical manuals for things you might find useful and study. Study in school, if you don't score high enough on the ASVAB, you'll either have to settle for a crappy MOS, or, wait like 2 months to take it again, though I'm not sure of the actual time it would take.
Good luck, little dude. When I was 10, I dreamed of joining the army, and I made it a reality. I did it out of necessity, though, which makes me mad because I wasn't set up for success and subsequently failed civilian side. I joined to gain housing and food, though I am staying because my unit is like a family I didn't know I needed. I hope you foster that love for your nation and serve, but make sure that when you leave the military, you've sharpened your knives, so to speak, so you succeed when you get out.
My fathers served in Korea , and my uncles In WW2 . "GOD BLESS AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE".
Every word in this song is true. Up till the day My Dad passed away he would have served all over again. He gave 17 1/2 years to this great nation. God Bless to every one who served.
You are dammm gorgeous

"Civilized men", the weak, the small, the pale, the righteous, the learned, the smug, the supercilious, the weak-stomached and contemptuous all stand upon the shoulders of the forgotten bloody giants to whom we owe our freedoms.
We should all bow our heads and offer thanks to all who serve and who have served, not only for their service and sacrifices but also for the sacrifices of their families.
Absolutely yes !! Amen ❤
I am navy veteran served over almost 20 years. I also lost a love of my life who died in combat serving our country. Will always be American soldier. But the real heroes are the ones who didn't make home!! Will be American soldier till my last breath !! God bless all who have served and all who will serve in the future !! God bless

Before I left the German Federal Naval forces I hadn't understood my former CO who said: Once a soldier everytimes a Soldier.
Now I understand it. I am an ex NCO and proud mom of a daughter who just became a medical Officer of the German Navy
@Trace Adkins Hey Mr. Adkins, yes it is okay. I still like your songs ("you gonna miss this" became one of my favorite songs).
Ist irgendwie tatsächlich so
From an American, thank you and your daughter for your service.
I hope she stays safe and returns to her family at the end of her tour.
When I hear this song, I realize the deep and sincere connection between country music and the hearts of those who listen to it. To all the American soldiers who fought to defend freedom over tyranny: thank you very much!!
I was at the Pensacola Fair when I heard Trace perform this song for the first time. He had real veterans come out on stage (just like how he does in this video), and I'm not going to lie. I cried. It's beyond amazing to see the love that people still have for this country, even when others kneel during the anthem, and step on the flag. It breaks my heart how evil the people of our own country are. Thank you Trace for bringing humanity back in my eyes ❤ Much love from Alabama. #patriotismIsNOTracist
God bless all who have served and those who are wearing our country's uniform today
My entire family, uncles, even aunts, cousins, My Dad, were all in the military. They were and are still all soldiers. God Bless all of our Military near and far. Great Song Trace Adkins.
Listening on Veterans Day currently. Was at the concert that is shown at the end. Hell of an experience. One of my favorite concerts I’ve been to up to date.
I married my soldier 12 years ago and I buried him 6 years ago. There's nothing like being married to a soldier and I would do anything to have him back. He served in Desert Storm. His lungs turned to glass from the oil well fires Saddam Hussain set as he was leaving the country. He is one of the strongest, smartest men I EVER knew.
Trace Adkins sing's this song so good! This song reminds me of my late husband who was in Vietnam for 3 yrs. He was in the Army and served with the 101st Airborne division. He passed away March 2009. That Agent Orange got him that our stupid Government sprayed over there. Towards the end of his life, Bill was in so much pain. I miss him a lot! God bless all of you who served our Country!!
This song reminds me about TOD BEAMER from the flight 93🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸✈️
Every time I watch this, I'm good until the Veteran's walk out onto the stage. The look of amazement on the soldier's face says so much! The Salute always brings that pain in my throat, trapped tears I call em.
Thank you to each and every one of the men and women, past, present and future who give of themselves so selflessly so that I can continue to have the rights you all have fought for!
My Dad was in the Navy for over 32 years and I love every minute of it and still today I will always remember him he passed away 3 years ago I will always be there for him and all Veterans that served and that are still serving this country of ours I will never forget
