Here's an idea on how to sync with the video easier. In the AUdio add a loud sound in the beginning that will give you a spike in the audio. You will also see that spike in the video's audio later and you can then sync the videos easily and just cut out the loud sound later.
Wow! This is an amazing video, not only as a sharing of your personal equipment and approach but also as an easy-to-understand how-to tutorial! You really packed an enormous amount of information into a video less than 15 minutes long! Very interesting and impressive!!!
I've been trying to figure this out for awhile. I bought and expensive mic that can connect to my phone for raw live one takes but this explains a lot why everyone else's videos sound so much better! I still wanna do raw live one takes though. I'm just now starting my channel here in just a few weeks.
I love the way you explain things! I just started posting covers and until 2 mins ago I was very frustrated about not having the equipment. I’m going to buy it in like a month but I was very flustered about it. Thx, u made my day Greetings from Italy
I've been thinking of getting equipment for recording and I probably still will but the first few minutes totally reassured me that I could still do well on YT even without the equipment! Thank you!
Thanks so much for taking your time to help so many people out when it come's to creating UA-cam video's and how you record your cover's. This video is awesome! Your an awesome person!!!! So happy for your success!!! Lisa Wojt from MI..
This is so interesting! I've been listening to/watching your covers for years and always interested in the behind the scenes of youtube and how people film covers 🙂
"I'm a basic woman" lovely. Nice to show your routine. The compression knob is very important. It makes loud sounds quiet - and quiet sounds louder because you can pull the volume up. so a scream and a whisper works. You need to use it because you can be very loud and sometimes very quiet during a song so compress. The same goes when you export the track. Set balance between music and vocals and then use compression or Limiter if you can find it. A limiter brick wall stops sounds from getting to loud. Then you can raise the volume up (because it will never exceed the 0) So it can hoover around perfect all the time. It sounds smashing on the song test in the end btw. To make you feel my love Adele/Dylan request. No head voice at all so only 100 % chest voice. A wonder song. Thanks for viding this
No probs at all, I went viral from low quality covers back in the day! People loved the old iPhone camera & no microphone, sat on the bathroom floor singing raw to a backing track, so it's not all about expensive equipment most of the time!! x
Quite informative, Sam, Thank you. I never knew HOW hard it really is to do what you do, but now I have a better understanding and admiration for your artistry. Love your covers....every one. Also love your originals too. They are awesome. God gave you an amazing gift, and the knowledge to make it happen.
this is four years ago and i find it now , its crazy. The people loving the RAW sound.... I love the raw voice, and i belive that the equipment shouldnt alter so much the voice but allow to portrait that signature sound , and shine the spot lights right there...i wonder if today on some countrys people wont like that raw authentidc sound without so much pluggins and productions on it
You're seriously my favorite Sam! I used your videos as inspiration when I had to sing in a wedding ❤ I love you! You're my #1 singing inspiration! Thank you!
I just loved your video, i'ts really amazing how you explained everything. That helped me a lot 'cause with some friends we're making a singing project for school so it was really helpful. I love you so much and I love your voice.
When you're adding reverb before recording, is it on your headphones or directly on the track you're recording ? Because normally you only record dry vocals and add reverb afterwards
sorry lovely, I'm so slack only now seeing this.. so it's probs too late but I prefer to add reverb whilst I record then I can add more if required when I edit the vocals afterwards, I don't like my voice when it's dry with no reverb on, but some people prefer it dry whilst they record & it helps them stay in tune... so its personal preference really x
Hi Sam! Thank you for doing this video. I’ve just started out on UA-cam and was starting to struggle to put things together as I was originally just singing straight into my phone. You amazing! Love you 💗
I’m interested in how she edited the video itself to switch. I notice the quality wasn’t as great but the actual cover she edited it. Can you show us how you editing your videos to look that professional?
Thankyou so much for this Samantha ❤️❤️ I've always debated whether it's rude to ask you all these enquiries about your equipments and how you use them but thankyou for posting this... It is really helping me on how I'll set up my small bedroom studio ❤️❤️
Amazing voice and content yo i was always waiting to get everything to start youtube when i could just start with what i have thanks so much for that yo
This is so great thank you! I just started my channel where I’m doing covers too and I’m realizing how much there is to learn! It can be really intimidating so this is really helpful! P.S. I love your covers and you have a beautiful voice! ❤️
Hi Sam, Re: SHURE SE 425 in ear headphones, are they fine for tracking with? We usually use M50 or DT770 (over ear) and wondering would they fit comfy in small ears? Apples ones keep falling out..😊 Thanks 😊
This was very helpful thank you. 😌 Forntunantly I will finally be able to start making covers again. It's been 5 years since I last posted and I felt that I wasn't good enough...😔that's why I stopped. But I miss it so much. listening to you made me want to sing again 💜💙thank you
Aw yay!! you go for it girl, don't worry about feeling a bit demotivated sometimes it happens to everyone, even I have no motivation for weeks sometimes but better to wait until you feel that passion again & then it will shine through in your voice & videos, hope this helps & keep at it, lots of love to you xxx
Thank you for showing the details. This was what I needed to see as this will be my first time recording covers. Can you kindly answer two questions though: Are there free versions of instrumentals on youtube to download so I can sing with or do I need youtube premium in order to download the songs? What's the best way to get the instrumentals? ...Also do I have to get rights in order to post a cover song on my channel? If so, how should I do that? Thank you for your help!
“Hope you can’t see these random eyelashes on my desk that’s kind of gross” 😂 I’m dying hahaha

Hi there. I was curious if you're ever concerned about copyright claims or if you just assume it's part of doing covers? Love your voice by the way ❤

Thank you so much for this video! I’ve tried to learned how I can record covers for I think 2 years now 🤯 so you actually made my life better❤️😚
That opening advice at the beginning is why I watched the whole video till the end... Thank you for such motivational words... 🙌🙌🙌

Thanks so much for this! Makes me feel more confident in my “low quality” covers.

It sounds pretty good but it would be even better if you put on a desser pluggin. it removes the sharp sssssss sound in the vocals :)
I totally love this because I was thinking of starting covers but didn't really knew how lol
hope it helps you love! x
Do you have a video going over how to edit and piece together seamlessly the pieces of the recording you like best?
