I find myself using an oven for a lot, these days. My county fire Marshall would've been right at home in the USSR and grilling is a pain in the ass. Pan searing is out of the question because as much as I love it, my shoebox apartment gets stunk up for days afterwards and it drives me crazy.
A combination of roasting heat and broiling for crust has served me surprisingly well.
I’ll take the thick one and the thin one if no one wants it! Great video joey!
Thx Jason, lovin your new vids!
Thank you for your help and knowledge
did it, came out supreme, thanx! you got yourself another subscriber...
Perfect recipe
It's only 8 am here and you already have me drooling for the steaks I will make for dinner tonight lol
Steak for breakfast
Excellent video man
You lost me with your two min long intro
Ffwd then.... Genious. Technology is your friend
@@drewrok78 their point is that this very easily could have been a 5 minute or less video. Also, If you fast forward, it's hard to distinguish what information is useful and which is just him talking because he's probably the type of person that likes to hear himself talking.
Agreed! No time stamps, no easy to read key points, no interest in following through on this video. Congrats on putting content up Red Meat Lover, I guess we’re just not your audience! This said, feel free to use the two points I’ve suggested, as well as Casandra’s comment: Streamline your content!
To add on to my reply for clarity. Not meant with any malice, just want to offer some form of constructive criticism in an opinion instead of simply bashing your work. I really applaud your courage to put yourself in front of a camera and talk about something that you are clearly passionate about. I gave you an honest opinion, but it’s your passion project at the end of the day, so do as you wish! I’ll be happy to keep watching
Same xddd
thank u!
This came out on my birthday, wish I saw it then
Looks good man.
OMG!!! MY NAME IS JOEY !!!
I am so going to cook it your way RIGHT NOW..
Thanks Joe.........👍✌
A shiner bock, nice choice
thank you!
It's a recipe that looks so delicious. I have to follow suit. You're the best cook.☻ 💚💚
Good job sir.
i'm a vegetarian and i legit came here to figure out how to cook my bf a steak for his b-day 😂😂 Thanks for educating
Just awesome comment, way to support your guy and hope the steak turns out great! 💥🕺
You madam... Are a perfect woman
I didn't realize "Mike the Cop" did cooking videos. Great.
🤣🤣🤣
You sir, are my doppelganger!
Nice! Thank you…thick steak with mashed potatoes…made a gravy with the dripping in my broiling pan…wish I had made some extra!
First time watching, had to subscribe.
Can easily just use a ribbed cast iron griddle, pre-heat it to 550 and then sear it and cook it completely at the same time - oven open for thin steaks - oven closed for thick steaks. Takes a hell of a lot less time. Just turn & rotate it after a couple minutes so that you get perfect grate marks on both sides.
I have one of those. Doing this tonight. And I'm gonna turn it at a 45 so i can get those cros hatched marks like you see at bar restaurants
Seasoning is everything. Second - temperate. Third - time. I dont own a grill and I dont want one. So my TURBO-toaster oven is KING in my cooking
I was salivating the whole time during this video. But it gave me some ideas to improve my steak game. I'm more of a thick steak kinda guy and the last steak I cooked was so good! I seasoned with cracked, salt and pepper and then garlic powder, I then seared it first (got some nice diamonds on a few of them but then went indirect and it happened to cook longer than I wanted (should had pulled at 120 butvwaited to 127) but it turned out pretty freaking good pink edge to edge, more of a medium than my medium rare i prefer but still so good. I've never done this method of a reverse sear like he did and I'm gonna definitely try it! Thanks for the video dude its nice to see well documented cook alternatives as apposed to just tossing things on a grill!
Getting ready to cook 3 big thick steaks in oven i just found this and i already subscribed. I also have an air fryer too going to see more of your videos see what i can learn from you cant wait.
Thx for taking the time to leave this nice comment! Air fryer is great, we just filmed an air fryer vs oven experiment today and we're pretty surprised by the results. Should be up in 3 weeks
@@Redmeatlover ok cool thx
Thanks for the info on how to make a great steak. I wasn't in any kind of hurry so I didn't need to speed thru.😊
Hope you enjoy🙌
@@Redmeatlover Yes, we enjoyed it last Sunday and I plan on making the recipe again this Sunday in the slow cooker instead of the oven so I can do some other things while I'm cooking. Hope it turns out as tasty.
All I got from that intro was ‘AMERICAAAA!! FUCK YEA!!’
Right Casandra, I’m hungry now lol
i like cooking steak in oven when I need a lot more strips for guests and its the winter (not bbquing). otherwise I finally learned the pan but its not always practical and you don't want the mess when people are over
I love a steak pan seared, but I can’t stand the splatter. EVERYWHERE. I despise doing it. So I prefer oven only and thankfully, my husband loves the oven only version. I’m still looking for a middle ground solution: oven only, with at least a little more crust than what I am currently getting. That giant pan is also too messy, lol.
Do it in the oven at high heat on cast iron
I just did this cooking a 3/4” New York Strip in the boiler for the first time ever while watching your video and it came out better than any steak I’ve grilled or pan fried.
I think I’ll be broiling a bit more from now on.
So you just rely on the salt you put on it for the dry bine while it temps? No additional seasoning? I kind of want to do this but I will throw some black pepper on before I sear it on the griddle side of my cast iron grill. Hmm..
Holy shit thank you!!!
Someone let me know if the cooking actually starts. Got tired of waiting ☹😣
Cast iron skillet in oven instead of grill grate?
I cook steak in the oven. I only buy from my local butcher and my steaks generally ribeye and are cut to my choosing, they are always at least 2” thick.
1) rest the steak out of the fridge for at least 1 hour, preferably 2
2) pre heat oven to 160°
3) line an oven tray with foil use enough to cover over the steak and pour in a little garlic oil, add salt and pepper and steak seasoning if wanted
4) place steak in the tray and season with salt, pepper, steak seasoning and garlic butter
5) cover steak with the loose foil and place the steak in the oven.
6) cook for a total of 30 minutes unwrap and turn after 20 minutes and baste then re-wrap(med rare)
7) remove the tray from the oven ensuring the steak is completely sealed tightly in the foil
8) wrap a tea towel tightly around the steak which is still wrapped in foil and allow the parcel to rest for approximately 8-10 minutes
9) unwrap the tea towel and place the foil wrapped steak back in the oven tray
10) open the foil allowing the juices to collect in the tray. Serve the steak and pour some of the juices across the steak according to preference
Also…I’ll settle the birds aren’t real deal…I’ve hunted and eaten a bunch of diff birds and they are real and delicious 😁
He actually said with a straight face "I haven't tested the method I'm going to show you"
Ditto on the intro.
@Red Meat Lover please do one on mutton
Shiner will accept your sponsorship for more red meat
How do you get grass-fed beef stake? How expensive is it to have a diet of this kind of meet ?
Go into detail on how many minutes to cook on each side for the temperature.
Okay
I have a Huge T bone steak about 2" thick.
I dont have a cast iron pan...
I want to cook it medium rare.
Any advice is much appreciated!
Buy a cast iron
Thank you for this video. Finally someone cooking a steak in the oven and broilerfinished. How long woukd I need to cook a Tomahawk Ribeye this way?
Couple months
@@iketerrible6661 Talk about Low and Slow LOL
@@jetcitysinatra7300 lol I’m just being an idiot 😂
@@iketerrible6661 As thick as they are you just might be right LOL
Vibing with the music, steak zooms, no extra bs in this video... What's that then birds are fake?
Does this apply for mutton?
No butter?
I’m going to try this and I want to comment on your conspiracy theory that could be true bc use see a lot of birds on a power line so that could be charging them
steak good ok
Most of these comments are mean af. Like ok you don't like how much he talks or the long intro but you can get that point across without being a bunch of pricks
Well thank you, your comment is much appreciated!
What they don’t know is that every negative comment helps this video become more successful and earn more money. UA-cam makes no distinction between negative and positive comments and the ignorance of their actions is actually kinda amusing!
@@Redmeatlover I don't think anyone is commenting negative things to keep you from getting views, but hopefully for feedback they hope you'll listen to. That's the point of a complaint, anyway
my apartment is full of smoke
Ahaha! Thanks for the laugh!
TTP please!
Lol…cant focus on what is being done while your hands are having a show of their own. But the video is a helpful different tip for sure.
🤣😂
I’m am also into conspiracy theories or truths depending on who you talk to. Questioning the narrative is a thing for me. Great steak 🥩 video btw 🙌🏽
Thank you, much appreciated!
Cough “narcissist” cough cough
Wtf
alu foile is a no go. as soon this foil is getting hot, all poison is getting free. alufoil is good for cold and light warm food only
2:13 boys
👍👍👍👍👍
Pointless when you say most people don't have a grill then proceed to take out some custom made oven tray.
Steak came out great! Thanks Joey.
But now about the pigeons.
I GREW UP in NYC.
I had a pigeon coup with 45 pigeons on my roof....So,,,,,,, where do the batteries go?
Certainly SOME birds are real bc that keeps a legit cover for the drones. Also these are very good drones, hard to tell real from fake birds these days w advancements in tech 😂😂😂
@@Redmeatlover gotcha! I misunderstood. Good point. I should have checked All 45 pigeons. Lol. However joking aside what, what you say is very possible. There are drones that look like bees I've seen it tech magazines.
Video starts at 3:43
If I had a grill grate I wouldn’t be watching this video
Literally...
Hate when UA-camrs have so much fluff. Saying so much extra stuff that we did not come here for 😭🤦🏾♀️
Did he say birds aren’t real ?? Maybe I should go to another channel
Ha sacrilege lol. I'm watching this because a thunder storm sent me running inside. I feel awful about putting good meat in the oven.
there's people in the world that lives in Canada, can't use the grill in the damn -40 winter lol
didn't come here to see you use a grill grate dude
Ribeye is still better.
I love it but too much talk talk
I didnt catch the reason why we cant reverse sear the thinner steak
Because it will over cook.
Damn those pigeons
You mean government drones?
Thank you so much for calling it for what it is. A GRILL!! Lol. Not a bbq
BBQ is what you eat people. Lol
I just can’t afford my own place yet so I’ll be in apartments for awhile I think. So I’m kinda stuck
so don't you season the meat?
Why is that people don't list instructions...what temp inthink 275 but is it oven or boil but be oven ...I think he said 25 mins ???????
275???? What???? Slow cook???
:( Your thin steak is more than twice the thickness I can get at Walmart... :( Bad life choices? :(
you should really put chapters in your videos.
Thank you for this. By the way, intro is way too long, IMHO
I’m only here to see if people actually did this shit lmaoo
Your making this way longer than it should be but great presentation
I've shot, cleaned and eaten lots of birds. I never found extra batteries. Damnit!
I didn't ask for broiling. I wanted to know pan sear to finish in the oven method.
How to roasting oven!
How to cook blade roast in oven?
It's called a "BBQ"
Probably an awesome video but way to long winded for me, sorry … had to shut it down after 3 mins.
3:16 before you actually mention how to cook
Why is this 12 minutes long
it's true. birds aren't real.
I liked the intro 🤷🏿♂️ gave it more of a documentary vibe.
I hate when ppl talk over the food.
lol...the NO to the Rocky method was friggin' hilarious.
For the love of God, can we get a steak cooking video that doesn't include the overdrive guitar + bass/clap backtrack? Besides the very tired "MEAT is 'Murica!" trope, it makes it difficult to hear anything you're saying over it.
I just don't understand how people eat it so red and or pink
He talks too much!
K
@@Redmeatloverthat's how you respond to your viewers?? Lmao 🤡🤡🤡
Keep the intro short please
Thanks for the feedback. We listened and greatly reduced our 6 season intro as seen here - ua-cam.com/video/1uhLSCL7lGc/v-deo.html
Why can’t you go straight to the point
birds are very real, i've killed many of them with a bb gun
agree, SOME birds are real.......
Dude chill out with the long intro 😬
