Hello to all RV friends. As a retired mechanic I am well aware of the issues regarding what is referred to as a 'sway bar'. First off, it would be correctly referred to as an 'anti-sway bar' because it takes out or dampens most of, if not all of, the horizontal rocking motion of the vehicle as viewed from the front or rear of the vehicle which applies to trucks, car, buses, RV's and such. The swaying or 'rolling motion' becomes more noticeable in top-heavy vehicles such as RV's (simple physics). When my wife and I purchased our Forest River Class C (32 foot) in 2010 we felt the rolling effect which was quite noticable and bothersome. That said, we had the original Ford Chassis 'sway bar' (1 inch in diameter and stock rubber bushings) replaced with a Roadmaster (1 3/8 inches and nylon bushings) 'antisway' bar which was substantially beefier than the factory one. All said and done, the change in stability and ride was, to say the least, a dramatic improvement. I would strongly recommend this product to anyone who in not pleased with the factory equipment. Kindest regards and thanks for all the videos that Pierre and Laurel have shared. Roadmaster has a factory website that will provide detailed information on their products along with supportive videos.
Thanks for chiming in ...you are right, the "anti-sway" would be the correct English 😉 The problem with those brackets are common and not often taken care of by the initial owners as a recall
Well, after watching your content and others, I just wont be purchasing anything new from the RV industry from now on. I started with a 2020 20' travel trailer that I upgraded to a new 2022 27' travel trailer and they gave me to many issues. The quality is just subpar. Now we want to splurge into a 40' Class-a but I just cant bring myself to consider a recent or new unit. Looking into years 1998 to 2008 instead. They where just built a lot better back then. Once I find my dream unit, I will get it inspected for sure. Thanks for the great quality content.
It’s amazing to see all the issues with a newer unit. It’s amazing they want us to finance for as long as a house but they fall apart and wont last the length of a loan. That slide… yikes.
This reminds me of another comment saying we should remember these are not meant to live in. I say if that was truly the case other than just an excuse to deny warranty claims, if they were not intended to live in then why in Gods good name would they finance it for that long? I say it is to convince you you are buying something that will actually last that long which we all know they won’t. In any quality condition anyway. These companies are saying without saying it. “Yes. We know you will not enjoy this for long if at all and we know you will never be able to pay for it for that long much less use it. And yes, we know almost every where you want to go has a 10 year rule so you’re kind of screwed after that but we don’t care. We are selling you a dream that is only a dream and will not happen. But thanks for paying my mortgage so I have a decent place to live that is built with quality unlike what I am selling you. How could you be so stupid not to know I’m ripping you off.
You are unwrapping the whole concept of a society...everyone spends next week paycheck and will never make it...the bubble keeps the fake economy moving, as richer are just getting richer 😉
We just looked at a couple of 5th wheels. When the sales person moved the slid outs out, I caught myself watching for the sleds scraping on the floor. 😂
I always learn something when you folks find things that I know nothing about and would have never looked for. With regards to your trip to Montana, the Frobishers sound like a nice couple. Montanans are people of few words, so if they point you to a prune pie eating contest, I say go for it.
The sway bar anchor is a very well known problem from FORD and there is a recall for that. I'm not sure if I smile or weep but this Newmar is 1 one year newer than our Hurricane and have slide problems that seems to be worst than what we had. At least in our case, Thor changed the entire slide (full wall)system (schinteck) under warranty because they recognized they assembled the slide out out of the schinteck system specifications.... No shim on my unit! The opposite slide was getting too close to the ground when closed so we took to Elkart and they adjusted it before any permanent marks where set on the floor....
I love Newmar, but it looks like it needs to be a pre-Covid build. I would’ve passed on this one because of the slides. In fact I would love to see them have a model without slides. Perhaps a basic bay star sport. Just my two cents. Love your videos as always.
I’d love your opinions on the “frame flex”. AKA frame failure. Will an rv inspection catch frame failure on an inspection of new or used? Have you seen on rigs other than GD? GD seem to be one that’s having a lot of issues especially the toy haulers. Love your opinion
If one is aware enough to know where, he or she is looking for! Yes! IMHO all toyhaulers are eventually going to have the issues. Lack of structure and engineering seems to be lacking 🤔

Nice RV. I would buy it as long as they repaired the issues. I am torn on which way to go on our purchase, currently we own a Jeep Rubicon and a Ford F250 SD. So do we go fifth wheel or class A? We go back and forth. If we go class A we will buy a mid 2000 vintage as from what I have seen they are built better than what is being produced today, not to mention the depreciation factor. If we go the fifth wheel route I really like what Brinkley is doing although cost is a factor, but quality and customer service is worth paying for. Either way we will be hiring you to inspect it. We are about 17 months from retirement and our RV life style. We plan on purchasing in the fall. Great video guys.
