I'm glad that streets of new capenna is giving bant some good counters support. The simic + selesnya combo seems like it would be great for counters but there have been NO Commanders for it until now.
@@Deris76 Probably because it has no affect on anything aside from itself and even with its self-focused ability compared with others, is one of the worst commanders I've ever seen.
I think Kodama of the west tree would be good here as well since u can’t play lands but a lot of ur creatures would be modified in some way so getting a lot of the basics out is mass ramp and deck thinning so ur less likely to get a land u can’t uses on top and nonbo with ur commander
Path of Discovery is surprisingly strong. Got a land on top? Play a creature and the land is in your hand instead. Don't have a land on top? Play a creature and get a counter to cast it!

For some reason, I thought this card was weak... but upon close inspection with the other cards that has persist and other types of counters... this commander is actually amazing!!
I think the Shield Counter direction might be another worthwhile way to build this one. I don't see getting too much synergy off stuff like River Kelpie. Depends how some of the other color-matching synergies with shield counters might work.
The persist direction is way stronger but not very casual so weird counters could be fun like you say. If you want the strongest version though then Persist Creature (e.g. River Kelpie, Glen Elendra Archmage) + EBT +1/+1 Counter Effect (Master Biomancer, Renata, Called to the Hunt) + a sac outlet (e.g. Blasting Station or Altar of Dementia) = you win ; )
This commander gave me a magic epiphany tbh, I’ve never really payed enough close attention to the cards others are playing because by looking at the commander I knew their plan, but this commander made me open my eyes to the other players choices of cards ALOT more closely
I’m really excited 4 falco spara! I’m doing a “all counters “ in theme where, if you make a lot of counters, your in. And all of the managorger hydra card I could get my hands on are in as well . Super excited!

I put a Teferi, Temporal Pilgrim in mine. He gives you 2/2 blue spirit tokens with "whenever you draw a card, put + 1 + 1 counter on this creature" Also he lets you draw a card
To all the people who like me, have nothing better to do than to break commanders and make effects as disgusting as possible, I present to you a "Falco Spara, Pactweaver" and "Momir Vig" combo. Depending on how many green creatures you run in your deck (93% of mine are) He can constantly tutor you your deck and set your board up to give you the win over and over again. The moment I saw this revealed my heart almost exploded with the posibilities... and now that hes out, Im in love.
One of the first Bant commanders I'm truly excited for. What a fun concept! Should work great in these colors too.

Cumulative upkeep costs are based off of the number of “age counters” on a permanent, so this could be a way to keep those costs to minimum as well.
shame it's only from creatures, other wise mystic remora would be so good. It's still good regardless.
Imagine that on dark depths! If you have a ton of low cost spells, you can use the ice counters to get Mirit Lage(spelling?) out so fast

Tamiyo collector of tales is another phenomenal add for Falco, especially if you're rocking proliferate.

This commander loves Chronozoa, Phyrexian Hydra, Woolly Razorback and Gwafa Hazid, Profiteer for those cards that are always stuck in a trade binder.
I had the same thought with Gwafa but unfortunately it can only put counters on your opponent's creatures : (
I used to do this with Wickerbough Elder and Unstable Mutation. This makes it so I can destroy all of my opponents artifacts and enchantments.
