I loved this movie as a child, I was already so amazed and smitten with Luciano for his angelic voice, and this movie just made me fall harder! I think this song is perfect for this movie, the era it comes from and the scene in which it is featured. Brava!! Thanks for posting!
I loved this movie, it was simple and the music was wonderful. So what if it was kind of silly. That's good. So much hate and violence in the world we need this. I bought the movie and have seen it several times. It's a feel good movie. Cheryl B
@cccorsetti "The composer... John Williams... A genius" - Pavarotti. "John Williams is such a great composer, such a great writer of music" - Yo-Yo Ma I have many other quotes if you want.
John Williams and Mario Lanza are two examples of artists whose talent we will never know to its full extent. The reason is because all their careers they were too busy making fortunes in Hollywood instead of composing concert pieces, opera, singing...
Well, you probably haven't seen the rest of the film. Pamela becomes his mistress, and then he's taking her to his friends and introducing her as Henry's niece, because he doesn't want them to know, that he's cheating on his wife.
@VoxOmnia sorry to be late in replying to you....been a while since I searched this on youtube. Was referring to her performance at the Miss America pageant that year. Again sorry for not replying in a timely manner.
@FranzFafner LOL! Great comment! La Babs gets co-writing credit on EverGROAN....LOL! She probably gets residuals too because she features that damn song on about 10 of her albums!
@FranzFafner Wow Franz lighten up! This song is definitely not suited to Pav. And yes, the movie stinks. However, John Williams and the Bergman's track records speak for themselves. Multiple Oscar, Emmy, and Grammy winners. Marilyn Bergman was an Oscar nominee for 3 songs 1983 alone including this one. Even the greats can misfire once in a while. Dionne Warwick actually sang it at the '83 Oscars and it seemed more suited to her vocal style.
Non voleva « fare l attore » . L han convinto a girare questo film per il pubblico americano. Purtroppo i grandi artisti non sono sempre consigliati bene . Si è fidato di persone vicine.
I know people will attack me for this but many aficionados and professionals were not as impressed with his voice as you might think. One expert in the field stated (after his death) that there are many talented tenors waiting in the wings who could replace him. That remains to be seen. But he continued to allude that the replacement hopefully would not sing in such an intense, strained manner. I agree that often Luciano sounded like he was singing beyond his range and too loudly.
suckittomcat Must have been Bonynge. He gave a very poor interview. Of Pavarotti after his death, that reeked of jealousy. Pavarotti did his own thing, and in my humble opinion, the world is a better place because of him.
Oh please. A few (jealous or just soulless) experts doesn't mean anything. He was the greatest. His voice was remarkable. But it is true that his lovely personality helped his career. People loved and still love him. No wonder. I was a child when he passed a way and didn't get to know him when he was alive - now I would do literally anything to be able to turn back time so I could at least hear him live.
Experts...you mean those who have no voice of their own to sing? But can « assure « you there are dozens of better tenors waiting in the wings?! Oh and by the way, if anything , other « experts « claimed that Pav s voice was not loud enough, that it could not match Del Monaco s etc - go figure!
Worst actor of all time? Nope. Sure, he wasn't born to act... but he really had his moments - especially in Puccini's operas. Unlike some actors today, he could really act if he was "in the mood". He was great actually then.
🥱😴 poor Franklin Schaffner (director)...went from helming "Patton" and "Papillon" to this limp musical romance (Pavarotti could carry an aria, but he couldn't carry a movie!)
I fell in love with him when he speaks English. His smile was killer. May his memories last forever. Much Love
I know. I love Luciano Pavarotti myself. he has one of the most beautiful opera voices I have ever herd in my life. I love his song Nessun Dorma.

Lovely film with magnificent singing and songs, makes you feel happy to see it.
Exquisite song! The heart swoons and I get chills listening to it.
Keep awaiting a Love like this... w/OUT the adultery.
i love the movie pav was fabulous!
This movie was horrendously bad. But throughout the whole thing I couldn’t stop smiling ear to ear because of Pavarotti’s wonderful charm.
💙💙

Lighten up a bit you guys, the great Pavarotti can sing what he wants. Some will like it and some won't get off your high horse.
I never said I liked this movie, it's horrible, I agree, just there are so many Pav fans who want to see this.

Jennifer Sauder, Miss Florida 1987, sang this aria for her talent...does anyone have that segment and can download it??
@VoxOmnia sorry to be late in replying to you....been a while since I searched this on youtube. Was referring to her performance at the Miss America pageant that year. Again sorry for not replying in a timely manner.
Pavarottival készült film megvan magyar szinkronnal is. Ezt szeretném látni.
¿Can anyone upload the "Ave Maria" from the beginning of this movie?
@FranzFafner Paul Williams and John Williams are two different composers......
Question... did Pavarotti ever play a mobster? Seriously.
@FranzFafner LOL! Great comment! La Babs gets co-writing credit on EverGROAN....LOL! She probably gets residuals too because she features that damn song on about 10 of her albums!

Haha! What's that?!!?
he was great singing Italian opera but whenever he tried to sing something in English......oh boy, give it up.
tenoregermania: was your Post a compliment to\For 'Luca?'
Che disastro! Voleva fare l'attore mah.....! Che disastro anche l'inglese! Forse voleva imitare Mario Lanza??

To Williams credit, this is one of his weaker works.
Probably the greatest vocalist of all time, male or female. And probably the worst actor of all time, male or female.
It's a male tenor. Pavarotti will always be my favorite. I wish Andrea Bocelli could sing this.
Worst actor of all time? Nope. Sure, he wasn't born to act... but he really had his moments - especially in Puccini's operas. Unlike some actors today, he could really act if he was "in the mood". He was great actually then.
Wow, acting aside, this movie is really badly made
