How to change both boots, replace CV joint and see clearances or play! Half shaft repair

  • Hello guys! Replacing these components is indeed a long dirty job and does not live up to the price of the parts. So why not do it right the first time? Here are my tips on how to see the clearances (because having too much is not worth changing the boots, you must change the CV joint) How to remove the CV joint and how to replace both transmission bellows.
    This work itself covers 90% of the world car market, only the disassembly and assembly of the suspension for its access belongs in fact to the Alfa Romeo model 156.

    Excellent description - thanks for posting this.
    My small tip: if you're releasing a ball joint use two lump hammers - one on each side - simultaneously. It requires less violence!

    Hi Bruno,
    what about to make video of procedure of exchanging ( possibly fabricating new ) rotten brake pipes behind ABS module on 156 ? Or how to correctly exchange brake master cylinder (bmc) and adjust brake pedal free play on booster pushing rod ? Last week i solved very anoying problem with all four dragging brakes and bmc residual pressure on mine 2.4 20V.

    • @alfaromeonoproblem
      @alfaromeonoproblem  2 роки тому

      Hello. It is considered on my "to do" list of videos. Maybe I'll do the brake lines on my 155, they are in need, as wheel as the brake booster and and BMC. In that way refering to your tips too, very appreciative. Thank you very much for watching

    My mechanic here in Southern Spain has just changed the complete longer driveshaft for a new one. I have a horrendous shaking of my 2006 147 JTDm 8v especially when going up hill and accelerating. He did NOT solve the problem, and wants to change the 2nd drive shaft. Then he thinks it could be the dual-mass flywheel 🙄 Do you have any ideas what this horrible shaking could be? 198000 KM

    You did a great job, but it is too much time and effort and so much mess. Why not just replace the whole CV axle?

    • @alfaromeonoproblem
      @alfaromeonoproblem  2 роки тому +2

      Hello. Remanufactured ones are horrible! Out of balance, seal surfaces pited, very low quality boots.. and the prince is not all that convincing. The next axle I will talk about that too.

      The new one the is great if it is from the same maker. But the price point is a bit too much for me. To rebuild it DIY is a more achieveble repair and I know for sure what's inside there.

      @@alfaromeonoproblem I wonder if my mechanic has fitted a re-manufactured driveshaft, hence the horrendous shaking my 147 JTDm 8V still has.....It's worse than before 😭
