Hey Alex! Thank you for your video reviews. It has helped me decide on the items to buy for my house. I intend to get the Eufy e340 doorbell. Would it be able to connect to other doorbell chimes (e.g Xiaomi Chime). The options I see now is either to add-on a Eufy chime or a homebase. If I can use existing doorbell, I won’t need to get another or a homebase.
thanks for sharing, Alex! fellow smart home enthusiast here. :) I'm thinking of getting the eufy e340. I'm wondering how to mount to get the best out of it. I live in a hdb, with the standard gate. placing the doorbell on the wall on the left/right doesn't really make sense since it cant angle toward the actual front of gate, right? therefore, would mounting on the gate make sense?
there is something call a wedge mount for the doorbell to face an angle, it's one of my points inside the spreadsheet. I suggest putting it at the most logical position of where people think the doorbell will be placed
Eufy features are nice but when it comes to IoT devices, the company's trustworthiness is the single most important factor above all else. Eufy and their deceptive data privacy practices from last year (as well as their multiple denials in PR statements until they got caught red-handed and publicized) automatically rules it out for me 100%, because their senior leadership is untrustworthy and doesn't deserve a place in my home.

Apple, Google and Amazon are all part of Matter, with Apple providing most of it because they are just more focused on not doing dumb stuff. Increasingly IoT things just work. My Big Ass Fans after a recent update just automatically showed up on the iPhone because they now support Matter and thus work with Apple's home automation. Which means they work with Google and Amazon and Samsung and whoever as well.

There are no quick replies that you can set, as for the audio quality, I have not tested them yet whether its usable. Most of the high end or advance digital lock come with the viewer, it's a nice added feature but don't see it as a replacement of what a smart video doorbell is able to do

Hm ur review made me have my eyes on the eufy. Just wondering, 1) Does it have b&w night vision too? 2) Can the automatic lights be manually switched on/off? The color night vision might cause some disturbances with the said automatic lights 3) How many users can be connected to the doorbell? Thanks for the review Alex!
1. yup there are infrared lights 2. nah you can't, the app will warn you to switch it off due to power 3. no limit of adding family members to a house, but if you do share device then i think its capped at 5
my list includes whether the doorbell has night vision capability, initially i thought that this would be very important but then I realize all apartment housing in singapore have pretty well-lit corridor
Alex, Can the google nest bell connect with the google speaker assistant via wifi and use it as a chime? Set via google home app? How many seconds delay between the pressing of bell and speaker sounding?. And can google nest bell work with the wifi6 ?
yup you can enable visitor announcement on the nest doorbell, settings inside the google home app. About 1-2s delay, you are referring to wifi 6 or 6ghz band?
nah don't want to hard sell, but briefly what we like about this is its water absorbent like a diatomite mat but it's the soft version and much thinner, sleek and easy to wash
I’m on my third Ring doorbell. First one died 2 days after installation. The second one went off-line with a dead WiFi transmitter two weeks ago. Now waiting for the replacement (under warranty). The Ring wired doorbell camera is incredibly unreliable. My main reason for trying the third one is…the holes in the stucco wall.
Nice video, I have a Logitech CircleView Doorbell, but it constantly overheats in our 40C plus weather with lots of sun here. Going to replace it with a Ubiquiti doorbell since it comes in white and with PoE should be better than transformer powered with overheating.
0:24 I'm actually thinking of getting a digital door lock that has video feature as well. If you don't mind, could you explain more on why you think it's not a good idea?
from what i seen so far, they come with no features at all, it's simply just a door viewer embedded onto the door lock to consume battery power if you have a gate then the view is gonna be blocked anyway
@@AlexTeoWhat are your thoughts on the Philips EasyKey 702 Video Digital Door Lock or Philips Alpha VP assuming I don't have a gate to block the view of the camera on the lock? Both mods feature PIR human detection and instantly shoots a video.
Interested in how someone would wire up a doorbell or Poe. Are we allowed to make a hole and put trunking in the public corridor? Also interested in winning the floor mat =)
Depends on the house. Older HDB flats have the Netlink Trust fibre optic cable with trunking running from the riser outside into the house. I use the same trunking to run power to my doorbell outside the door.
Thank you for doing this video. Really good stuff!! Especially your upfront disclaimer that you paid for all 10 models. Im currently using the eufy s220. But my biggest concern is the time lag it takes for me to be notificated when motion is detected or doorbell rang ~ 5 seconds is too long for my experiences with delivery people or anyone who presses the doorbell. Is there any brand or model which takes near instant or less than 3 secs for ring or notification? Or is the time lag dependant on broadband speed/ bandwidth? Doormat for me too! lol
network definitely play a part, but even if I am physically home, I don't think i will be able to respond so quickly, so i guess its fine for the person to go off if they are unable to wait 5-10s

can't recommend since i didnt tested them before
@@AlexTeothanks for reply I think I’m going to go with Eufy after some research, XTU seems to have more hidden costs and their info/tech support looks awful
Great Video! Is there any recommended door viewer?
nope, i don't recommend buying a door viewer. If you really want this functionality then get a digital lock that has such a feature
@@AlexTeo May i understand more why you do not recommend a peephole video doorbell? I have kids and helper at home and I thought having a display right at the door is easier as they do not have ready access to a mobile phone at home.. Do you also have recommendation for a digital lock for sliding door?
@@agnesng7327 briefly a few points.. 1 nobody is going to see the doorbell that is on the door which might be behind a gate.. 2. considering features and price is far from what a video doorbell has to offer.. 3 if you are already at the door then just use the peephole to see who is outside, or like i suggest get a digital door lock that has door viewer, or a smart display that integrates well with the doorbell
Alex, can i check if eify can be installed to HDB doorbell with wired connected? Thanks in advance.
all of the doorbells in the video can be wired, except for the xiaomi
Great job man!
Seems like google nest doorbell is my way to go for now since i have google nest hub at home. Thanks for this video, really helps for my decision making!
glad it helps!
Hm ur review made me have my eyes on the eufy. Just wondering,
1) Does it have b&w night vision too?
2) Can the automatic lights be manually switched on/off?
The color night vision might cause some disturbances with the said automatic lights
3) How many users can be connected to the doorbell?
Thanks for the review Alex!
1. yup there are infrared lights
2. nah you can't, the app will warn you to switch it off due to power
3. no limit of adding family members to a house, but if you do share device then i think its capped at 5
For 2, I am able to switch off the white LEDs in the Eufy app. So far no issue at night cos the corridor is quite well lit
Alex what about image quality at night or when theres not enough lighting?
my list includes whether the doorbell has night vision capability, initially i thought that this would be very important but then I realize all apartment housing in singapore have pretty well-lit corridor
@@AlexTeo can google nest doorbell connect with android phone and iphone without using the nest display?
@@Kalimatullah_Yoh1-1.14 ya, the google nest hub is just a smart display
Hi, does the google nest doorbell subscription works in Singapore?
yes i have personally tested this
@@AlexTeo hi i saw that nest aware is not available in Singapore. How do you go about doing it?
Alex, Can the google nest bell connect with the google speaker assistant via wifi and use it as a chime?
Set via google home app?
How many seconds delay between the pressing of bell and speaker sounding?.
And can google nest bell work with the wifi6 ?
yup you can enable visitor announcement on the nest doorbell, settings inside the google home app. About 1-2s delay, you are referring to wifi 6 or 6ghz band?
@@AlexTeo its wifi6
@@Kalimatullah_Yoh1-1.14 then no, wifi 6 is 802.11ax, google nest doorbell is 802.11a/b/g/n
How are this prices right? I bought the eufy for 76$ 😳
good for u!
What about the Xiaomi Doorbell 3S? Seems to be a big upgrade for not much of a price increase
not a big upgrade imo, it will still have the same score. If you are planning to hardwire it or the IP rating matters to you then go for it
Does Eufy340 have a screw to screw to the bracket for security?? I dont want someone coming along with a paperclip and stealing it!!!
no diff, someone can come along with a screwdriver too
as always. great video Alex! summarizes each products in a nutshell. Curious also how your doormat compares to others, care to do a video?
nah don't want to hard sell, but briefly what we like about this is its water absorbent like a diatomite mat but it's the soft version and much thinner, sleek and easy to wash
Hi Alex, thanks for the video. How to secure these doorbell and not get stolen by people?
not really, you can only make it a little harder and longer so that it capture and record the person's face
I have the Eufy with Homebase so even if the doorbell is stolen everything is recorded on the Homebase at home so hopefully you know who stole it
I’m on my third Ring doorbell. First one died 2 days after installation. The second one went off-line with a dead WiFi transmitter two weeks ago. Now waiting for the replacement (under warranty). The Ring wired doorbell camera is incredibly unreliable. My main reason for trying the third one is…the holes in the stucco wall.
wow, that's really bad luck
Hi.
Does this have a recording area that I can set. Ie so It cover an area I chose?
Thanks
the feature is call privacy zones, most if not all smart doorbells have this feature
Good video, thanks for the reviews and recommendations :)
Nice video, I have a Logitech CircleView Doorbell, but it constantly overheats in our 40C plus weather with lots of sun here. Going to replace it with a Ubiquiti doorbell since it comes in white and with PoE should be better than transformer powered with overheating.
Hello, may I know where you are located please? Because I don’t think Singapore has ever breached the 40°C mark
can Eufy both E340 and S330 able to record and store videos?
@@antonette2113 ehh.. all video doorbells can do that
@AlexTeo what's the storage capacity for. Both?...how many days recording?
any in this list that can be used outdoors for those not living in apartments?
Each of them has some IP rating so depends on your situation
0:24 I'm actually thinking of getting a digital door lock that has video feature as well. If you don't mind, could you explain more on why you think it's not a good idea?
from what i seen so far, they come with no features at all, it's simply just a door viewer embedded onto the door lock to consume battery power
if you have a gate then the view is gonna be blocked anyway
@@AlexTeoWhat are your thoughts on the Philips EasyKey 702 Video Digital Door Lock or Philips Alpha VP assuming I don't have a gate to block the view of the camera on the lock? Both mods feature PIR human detection and instantly shoots a video.
Interested in how someone would wire up a doorbell or Poe. Are we allowed to make a hole and put trunking in the public corridor?
Also interested in winning the floor mat =)
i will figure this out with my electrician for my next house haa
Depends on the house. Older HDB flats have the Netlink Trust fibre optic cable with trunking running from the riser outside into the house.
I use the same trunking to run power to my doorbell outside the door.
Hi, can you recommend more video doorbells that is supported by Apple HomeKit. Only one was supported, which is Aqara.
www.apple.com/sg/home-app/accessories/#section-doorbells
@@AlexTeo Really very limited choice
@@TheSuperDoc imo smart home integration is not very important, its alright to run the entire home security system separately
Great video thank you !
So which one is the best doorbell?
6:15
Which one is heavy rain-proof?
the highest rating i saw before is IP65, that includes eufy, ezviz, arlo
which of these doorbell can just use 3M tape to install without screws?
only arlo and google nest can't, but I don't recommend using 3M tape because it's most likely going to drop some day
Thank you
Could you do another round of smart home door locks?
yup i'm considering
@@AlexTeo Ive seen quite a few that im actually interested maybe you could consider them in your next video?
1) lenovo u2
2) Prism +

nope for me, not sure whether anyone managed to get it work
Nice video! Using xiaomi now
The latest TP-LINK TAPO D235 will be a good choice as you can connect to a 24volt DC to have continuous monitoring
I have the nest battery doorbell. The battery has to be recharged every week.
did you manage to figure out why is that so?
@ Nope. Still struggling with it
