Such beauty, talent and grace! When I was 6 years old in 1966 my father had tabletop cassette player that was in a wooden case. On one of the many occasions he was supposed to spend time with me he put on a cassette with various music and told me to listen for Dionne Warwick’s song, ‘You’ll Never Get to Heaven if you Break my Heart.’ When I heard the song I was to flip the tape. He had to go out but gave me that job to do while he was gone. I must have done this at least 4 times. He finally came back after over an hour. I realized years later that he gave me that job to keep me busy so I wouldn’t get in trouble since he left me alone at 6 years old. I never told my mother. And to this day I’ve always loved that song of Dionne’s. Along with her many beautiful recordings.
Does anyone else think this is just phenomenal? The setting, the orchestra arrangements, the clothes, the music, and THE AMAZING VOICE of what certainly is one of America's best singers ever. I'm just blown away by it. Makes me want to go back.
You can’t help but admire love and respect this artiste . She never was controversial and never tainted her wonderfully respected status. A legend and role model. Note how beautiful she is.
Remarkable 🎉 joy forever ❤incredible vidéo 😮she is beautiful, voice in full command 😊 listened to "Call Me" overcand over again, incredible, love you 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
WARNING!!! if you lack class and manners you will find this video offensive BCS this lady is ALL CLASS, so proper, so beautiful. No mixing boards, nothing phony here, just a beautiful voice, probably the best lady vocalist, ever (yes, I said it).
I just love this; I love Dionne Warwick, and to think she flew over there and did this performance is amazing. She was destined to be a star, and she is one.
Wow! Certainly does not get old. American icon, and a beautiful voice coming from a beautiful woman. If she could get that crowd moving boy she’s alright.
You can’t help but admire love and respect this artiste . She never was controversial and never tainted her wonderfully respected status. A legend and role model. Note how beautiful she is.
Dionne's unique gospel improv applied to pop & soul hits puts her in a realm unique in all of music history. This video exemplifies why she was a global presence for 50 years dominating the top 40 charts on small record labels against every big act from The Beatles, The Stones, The Shirelles, Aretha, Simon and Garfunkel, Dylan and all of Motown, Michael Jackson, U2 with no dancers, no pyrotechnics, no smoke, no mirrors or disco balls to dazzle and enhance and fulfill whereas some other act's shortcomings required those things to round out their talent. Just a little girl from East Orange, NJ with a voice from God and a musical gift that has enriched music for 55 years and counting. The one and only Dionne Warwick. Peerless.
I love how she is singing for them of course, but mostly for herself. Every singer that reaches her level of expertise spends many hours of practice sometimes just by herself. We sing to soothe ourselves and to feel good.
Just watched this little gem of a concert on tv. I was surprised by the good sound quality. Funny to see most of the audience just sitting there, like frozen. Nobody was dancin except Dionne herself...
What Nerve To Turn Her Back And Sing...TeeHeehee... With All Those Funny-Looking Eyes And Faces...Good For Her!!! One Of Our Beauties And Talents Who Doesn't Get All The Recognition She Deserves. Give Our Beautiful And Talented Living Legend Her Flowers And Props While She's Still Here -Eh. I Just Love Her...Always Have. Our Regal Diva Queen 1st Soul Pop Legend!!! 🙂😍💜👑🌟💐
If the great Dusty Springfield has already been inducted into the Rock and roll Hall of Fame, then certainly Dionne Warwick deserves her place amongst the pantheon!! MAJOR PROPS OVERDUE .... 💙💜💚❤️
One of America's finest exports: Dionne Warwick and a really fine band in the shadows of some nightclub in Belgium in the aftermath of the assassination of our finest president some months earlier
This mini concert is such so very special one as she was using her voice as a sorprano. It's a great rare gift for Dionne fans! Especially including the performance of "People", could you please share a higher quality format such as 720p or 1080p ? Thank you soooo much!
She was 23 here, in a venue that was beneath her talent, only white folks in a smoky dive. However, her class, poise, and professionalism are on display as is a pure lyric soprano that was lost as her career advanced, but replaced by a wider range in her lower register. This is a treasure that was taken down shortly after the last time I watched it. To think that after 57 years in the music business she is still touring with her concerts. Amazing woman.
These weren't low "dives." This is what some of the best clubs were like at that time. Small, intimate, and yes smokey. This setting wasn't "beneath her." And I don't appreciate your dismissive and nasty comment about her white fans.
In 1964 Dionne was a new artist in Europe. However she got her own TV special, because her talent was recognized. In the early 60 the vast majority of the inhabitants was white. The audience listened to Dionne not only out of respect but because the audience appreciated her talent; yes it's very different from nowadays where we seem to be focused on singing along with the performing artist. In the early smoking was not yet seen as a cause of cancer; people smoked when they want too relax; I am happy we know better now. Knokke is about 50 km from Ostend. Marvin Gaye fled to Belgium and lived happily over there with mr. Cousaert's family. Marvin too was appreciated very much because of his talent and contributions in the past. It doesn't suit you to write that Dionne is performing in 'a venue that was beneath her talent, only white folks in a smoky dive'. On the contrary.
"Don't ya dare stop! Now I really gotta go, so don't stop!". Yes, Dionne, that's what you have to sing to those stalkers and anybody who would dare to make you cry and then try to get your attention again.
This '27 Club' is very mysterious... The mobile camera gives us a 360° view of the location ; No stage, at 1:07 one person has a guitar and one seems to be beating time (in front of whom ?)... No photography decoration on the walls evoking a cabaret vocation of this place. Observe the wall fresco on the back wall at 06:13, which would be more suitable for a seaside restaurant decor than a cabaret. Only the bottom of the bar counter evokes a club atmosphere with this 27 logo which seems to have been made with golden nails planted on one of the panels covered with 'Leatherette' but which appear to have been installed here "quickie" for the needs of the film. If the music is broadcast in the room via a speaker, so it would be the very first Karaoke filmed in Europe in Knokke by a Belgian movie producer in 1964... Thank at mrs Warwick for her magnificent performance. Does anyone know where this '27 Club' was located in Knokke?
When I first saw this, I thought the crowd looked quite disinterested and undeserving. But after more looks and from the number of people wearing dark sunglases in a dim room, I think the crowd was enjoying the show but just thought they "were too cool for school" to show excitement about it😂😅
This Empty Place. Another great one here is Any Old Time of the Day, which was not released on an LP but only a 4-track EP in 64, so is hard to find. I only found it now after years of being a Burt fan, and it is really beautiful

Just a beautiful little girl with a tremendous voice born to sing with chords touched by the spirit. Your awesome Dionne!!! 😊❤️😊
No reverb needed or fancy instruments. No auto tune. Just pure talent. We love you Dionne.

March 27, 1964 is the date of my birth, my birthday. This coincidence is incredible.

Damn! Astonishing she was playing small cabarets at this point, 2 years into her early hits like Don't Make Me Over & Walk on By. Love it!
WOW 😯! This is just INCREDIBLE !

Fantastic snapshot of a certain time in the culture. She’s so young! So sure of herself, and for good reason.
(BTW - Where is the orchestra?)
Sauve' with soul sauce...slim , trim, modelling gracefulness..love this...
I feel I'll be sinning if I stopped loving Dionne even for a second.
Amazing
