Dont know if you guys cares but if you're stoned like me during the covid times you can stream all of the new series on InstaFlixxer. I've been streaming with my girlfriend recently :)
Awesome! I've suggested the OG Xbox when you've asked what system we would like to see modded a while back and I'm glad you've finally did it! I hope to see you go even further with this console like a Crystal one with some LED, HDMI and all the bells and whistles maybe? LOL! Great video and keep up the good work!
I like the sound of that for sure! I think the next one I do will have the all the bells and whistles, it was fun to revisit this console and I appreciate the suggestion!!
Nice work! When Conker came on, I thought woooooooow, incredible! Then I remembered I was mentally comparing the visuals to my memory of the N64 original haha. I have my OG XBOX hooked up with RGB Scart and OSSC. I'll have to check and see how it compares to this. Pure digital is always appealing!
Yo RockerGaming! Great video as always! Loved the small soldering segment and the video comparaison were on point! :) It's fun to see some XBOX content, and DatGameCollector was a great addon to this video. There is so much good games on XBOX, I feel people just forgot about it :)
I couldnt agree with you more... There are so many good games that get left behind. It was a ton of fun revisiting this and I am looking forward to being able to do some more Xbox content going forward. MakeMHZ is coming out with a new version of this mod which offers scaling and few other goodies, so when that comes out I will likely get the gang back together for a repeat performance and check out the advanced mod.
Tried to get my hands on that mod, went ahead and pre ordered 2 one for a 1.1-5 and another for 1.6, seller said the shipping started but a month after and mine never shipped, I got scared and canceled so I guess some people got it, I will wait for the Black Dog Technologies instead, nothing to be afraid with Dan.
I am excited for Dan's mod as well. I do plan to revisit this one again though in a few months once the HD+ version comes out which should allow for some scaling and other cool options!!
Fantastic work. I have mine done but I'm getting a frag and after much rework I am not going to use the lpc rebuild board, remove it and just hard wire everything. I get everything else lighting up just no signal and red led on the modchip. I assume it's the D0 to gnd but that's been redone a bunch and I also directly connected it. Any suggestion much appreciated otherwise awesome advise on the ribbon as that's what I went with (jtip) and it worked perfectly.
@@RockerGaming hey bud I’m doing better than I deserve! But yeah life has been busy. Hope to move houses soon and I’ll finally have a garage to work on projects. Might have one rolling around my head. Never know. :)
I recently got 2 original Xbox consoles as I never had one growing up and I love it, I got on the Xbox bandwagon when the 360 was released. I soft modded one and I got a chipped one that had some issues that were easy to fix, I only got the chipped one because it was super cheap on Facebook market place and would turn out to be a fun project
I love the 360 too. I will likely cover that at some point too. The OG Xbox is so much fun and having a modded console when it was a relevant system was amazing! I am glad you picked one up and have been enjoying it too. Its amazing what these can do once you have unlocked its potential!
I bought crystal white edition few ywars ago and im keeping it just as decoration... I would love to mod and restore it some day, but im not sure how much would that cost....
I´m always learning something new with you :) Btw, I also have a 1.6 which I installed a hdmi mod, however without the xenium modchip. So the result was that I don´t have image unless I run a game. In that case I can see and play normally. But it doesn´t go to dashboard. I thought it was modded with xbmc but it wasn´t the case. I can get another xbox that has xbmc, and I would like to ask you if removing the hard and disk drive and put into the one that has the hdmi mod, will sort the image issue. Or its allways better to install the xenium instead? Thanks for your guidance :)
Is there an explanation for black levels sometimes being worse? I have seen in other comparisons that it often applies to the gameplay itself, not just a cutscene. I do feel gamma has something to do with it but can't be for sure, whether it's game assets being storied in different gamma encoding or something.
Its funny after I put out the video I realized there is a gamma correction in the hdmi app. I believe you can go in there and correct it. As an interesting aside thus uses a YUV color space... I also wonder if that is causing it as well. I know future firmware updates will allow for more color spaces which likely will correct this as well. I am fair knowledgeable on the topic but knowledgeable enough to say what color space hdmi defaults to. It could also just be my capture card lol. I definitely didn't notice that when I was playing the game only whwn bumping the footage side by side 😂
@@RockerGaming Thanks for the response. Do you happen to know at what point gamma compensation occurs, whether at the GPU driver or at encoder? Certainly not baked into the game assets right? The main reason I care about it not being baked into the assets is that it means doing gamma compensation with mods like this would be far easier as applying a standard compensation would result in a 100% perfect and correct picture on a modern display. Funny thing is that I plan on using a Trinitron 1080i CRT with DVI input for a while and wanted to output 1080i from the MakeMHZ mod into it, which would mean I'd want to use the regular gamma the Xbox usually outputs. f it is the color space that would be interesting to compare when RGB is added in the firmware update.
Help! I had hardcore guys who worked on my system that promised me they installed it exactly how it should have. But it does not work. My system simply reads a black screen on my tv! What is going on?? Can somebody please have a look at my xbox? Thanks.

X-men legends is the best game for original xbox it has 720p plus real widescreen not anamorphic another consideration is every cross platform game looks best on xbox because of its 99% support for progressive scan & the fact that gamecube only has 1.6GB discs
not going to lie, your image with the mod does not look noticeably better than an inexpensive xbox2hdmi adapter... it's great that it's internal, it makes it convenient, but, ultimately doesn't do much for the image, and I wouldn't expect it to. These devices just offer a fairly straightforward digitization and transcoding to HDMI

We will never see a console take as large a leap forward as the OG Xbox did upon its release. The closest is the Dreamcast.
