Looks like the kid was suicidal but was maybe too scared/didn’t know how to do it himself.
    May he rest easy…

Officer Lemos is the subject of a current lawsuit for roughing up and arresting a woman who was late to check out of her hotel room. See 'Diaz v. City of Sunnyvale et al', case number 5:23-cv-03965.

Gee, the call says he was naked but he wasn't. Reminds me of the time a naked male with a sword was threatening people on Christmas day on Bennington ave. in the 60's. One cop shot at the guy but he moved and another cop was shot instead. At least this cop didn't miss this time and didn't hit his partner.

Last June 6, I went on a 4-hour ride-along with Officer Lemos. He had to deal with a few cases of bad behavior and calls for service. I was impressed with how Kevin (and the other officers who came later as backup) professionally handled the sitations with empathy, kindness, and fairness. Kevin is a very nice guy with a good heart. Afterwards, I felt very safe and proud to live here in Sunnyvale.
We also talked about a number of issues, including the difficulty of situations where you have to make a very fast decision on how to handle cases where things could quickly go out of control. I do not envy him nor any other officer who has to deal with that kind of circumstance.
Unfortunately, this incident is a tragedy and my soul reaches out to console and comfort all of those involved.

Did he work at a different department before Sunnyvales?

They should go after the criminals. And protect teens with mental health problems.

The cop was itching to shoot.

Not true. For as long as the subject was approaching the officer slowly, the officer kept backing up. After following the officer for about 24 seconds(12:34-12:58), the suspect begins to run towards the officer, it's then when the officer fired.

@@alexalphastream2943 he was walking towards him with a pistol raised for a long long time, not backing up!

@@maria-giulianalatini1724 You are very wrong and Alex is right. Look at the witness video at 11:20 and the body cam video at 12:30 (as Alex said). The officer was backing up for a long time before the man started to run toward him.

@@connorshannon8600 you're probably right. I have some glaucoma and can't see very well BUT couldn't be have used a Taser with a bare legged man just holding a knife? They knew he had a past history of mental illness but was basically not usually dangerous and I believe had called the cops on himself.
