My mom was on one of the Anchorage focus groups Alaska Airlines did when they changed from the blue and green livery to the all-blue one, keeping Chester on the tail. I flew AS 727s from Anchorage to Seattle and then on to Portland (and back) at least a dozen times in the late 80s and early 1990s.Thanks for this fun video!
Yes good memories. The earlier the paint schemes show a Alaska State flag next to the name ALASKA. Originally that state flag was after the air intake on the 727 center engine. It lasted there about 3 days and was changed because from a distance, it looked like a engine patch and the stars looked like rivets. In the first Eskimo logo on the tail, Alaska was sued for the use of the Eskimo image by the woman who remembered our company photographer taking it of her. It was quickly settled for about $300.
