  • My car battery is on it's last leg. The last time I started it, she BARELY turned over. That's when I decided to try out the repair function in the Hasito 20A Battery Charger. I first thought it would only take a couple hours to repair... Not quite.

    In order to get the battery properly repaired i.e. desulfated you probably have to get a CETEK charger. I repaired some batteries using that ☝🏿😉

    Well, that was pretty cool. The repair function seemed to give you a little longer battery life. I do believe a new battery in order. Love the creaky door. 😃

    Two things... 1. Normally one should connect the battery repair unit to the battery first before powering it up... "normally" and this may not matter in this case. 2. The longer you wait to replace a known bad battery like that the higher the chances of your alternator will get damaged. It is working harder than needed and sometimes more than it is designed to do. Also, I would do the same exact test with the other vehicle and see too. I have professional battery chargers ... expensive but I used in the repair business for quite sometime.

      Thanks for the information. I'm planning on replacing the battery very soon. I really just wanted to see if the health of the battery would increase at all. Would the battery repair function hurt a battery that really doesn't need it?

    • @dacat8171
      @dacat8171 11 годин тому

      #2 is complete nonsense!
      The alternator provides around 14.4 V, whether there is a good or a bad battery. If the battery is fine it gets charged, if not it won't.
      If the battery feels bad, repair - desulfate - it and you will have a new battery.
      There is no need to replace a car - lead - battery ☝🏿🧐

      I've never used the repair function before and I figured I would record my findings. I've heard other people using it and they hear bubbling coming from the battery or it just kills it.
      I also understand that my videos are not for everyone. I'm just to trying to learn and experiment with what I have.

    Most of what I’ve been finding online is that it can sometimes take 2-3 or even upto 5 if these repair cycles with each one improve on the next. I can’t say for sure but makes sense to me. Im doing my first cycle now but I don’t have a tester to know how it’s doing. I’m just gonna do it twice and hope for the best.

    I'm not poking fun at you or anyone else but this is hilarious. 😄 I'm ASE and MMI certified and for anyone to think that a battery can be "repaired" with ANY method of charging is fantasy at best. The only physical service you can do is adding distilled water to a flooded lead acid battery (never add acid), or with some chemistry batteries cycle them with a slow discharge and trickle charge. Other than that if a battery is bad, it's bad.

    I wonder if multiple repair sessions would get the battery in even better shape. The repair mode and that higher 15+ volts you seen is boiling the lead plates in the battery in pulses to remove sulfation I think. if you could get it back to 50% health that could last another year or so.

    I think that an analog voltmeter would have given you a better reading of the pulse process. The analog reacts quicker than digital.

    Эти зарядки HTRC при их хорошей внутренней компоновке выходят за пределы напряжения для свинцово-кислотного аккумулятора и у них не работает режим восстановления.
    Я купил более дешевую зарядку Foxsur 12v, 12 A и у неё хорошо работает режим восстановления.
    Напряжение не превышает 14,4 V и в режиме восстановления можно увидеть на тестере пульсации от 13v до 14,3v и наоборот.

    • @OffGridBasement
      @OffGridBasement  10 місяців тому

      So you're saying they're no good for lead acid batteries? Interesting. Thanks for the comment.

    • @MasterYoda_
      @MasterYoda_ 10 місяців тому

      В режиме восстановления - да.
      И немного выходят за пределы 14,4 v.
      Но хороша эта модель HTRC тем, что можно регулировать силу тока.
      На моём зарядном устройстве с напряжением всё хорошо, но сила тока в режиме зарядки автомобильного аккумулятора подымается почти до 12 Ампер, а это плохо для 50 амперного аккумулятора.
      А в режиме зарядки аккумулятора для мотоцикла - не подымается выше 1,5 Ампера, то есть маленькая сила тока и долго ждать полной зарядки.

      I noticed your battery is agm, the unit is designed for flooded led acid, it increases the voltage for an extended period of time in order to desulfite the sulfar that gets built up on the led plates over time @@OffGridBasement
