Honestly, people dont give animals enough credit for intelligence. I swear, you watch these videos and you're like, "They say humans are the only 'intelligent life on the planet, but I see some people and I question them. I watch the Dodo and see clear evidence of thinking and recognition of situations."
Its funny how a dog can know how to protect a family and know the pecking order for protection. 1. Child. 2. Adult woman. 3. Family cat. Stay between where the family sleeps and the door for intruders. Stay between the human and the wood line while walking in the woods to protect from predators lurking.

Dogs 🐕 deserve a longer life
Indeed, they are always full of surprises, showing how they can deeply interact with humans. It was a shame of me to have been ignorant of that for the first half of my life. That was one of the greatest things UA-cam brought to me.

Learning to communicate and understand other species is vital for growing humans, and is beneficial to other animals as well. If we all had better communication with other humans and animals, the world would begin to heal. I think it's odd schools don't have animals, or place a strong interest in keeping kids educated and communicating and working with other species as a part of a balanced education, but I hope all children who can be raised with them get the opportunity. We need more responsible animal people on this planet.

I like when the baby was digging a hole with her shovel and her dog was like "let me help you with that. I can do that well." LOL. That was also adorable when he stood next to her in an attempt to ensure she would not fall as she walked. Smart, protective pet. Well trained. A beautiful story.

I guess that having a dog near the baby even improves his or her health in every way, like decrease alergies, improve motility skills, stabilizing mood, etc. A match made in heaven, dogs and babies.
Absolutely. Having a dog near young children improves their immunity a lot. Not to mention all the benefits of helping them in their emotional and mental growth. I wish every child was blessed with a dog in their home.

Yeah, it just makes me sad that dogs don't live longer, because by the time the baby is 10-15, the doggos will be at the end of their lives! Still though, I wouldn't trade away that experience!
These two were so perfectly paired. The dog knew exactly how to take of care and support the baby and the baby cuddled and hugged and petted the dog exactly as a dog likes without putting at the ears or smacking the dog in the face or anything. Just a perfect match.

I got a new boss about five years ago. At first I wasn't sure what to expect from him. When he invited me to his home I was impressed by his four year old daughter and his six year old son, but what really impressed me was how his kids got along with their two dogs. Everything the kids did was in the company of these two large dogs that doted on the kids. My new boss explained that both he and his wife were raised with dogs and they wanted the same for their children. He turned out to be a great boss. Very patient, compassionate, informal, and watching out for his subordinates. Dogs, there is a reason that dog is god spelled backwards!

In a department meeting he announced that dogs were unclean and that people that owned dogs risked Allah's displeasure. With one or two exceptions everyone in the department had one or more dogs. Everyone posted dog pictures in their cubicles and every power point presentation had dog pictures hidden in the slides. Our new boss lasted about 2 months before he was replaced by a new manager who had dogs.

@@melmarsh3247 - Sadly that's not always true. I was 11 when I received my puppy for Christmas... best Christmas gift ever... best dog in the world too. My brother would've been 6 yrs. old then. In spite of how much he loved our dog as well, he still turned out to be a despicable sociopath (now 51), and I don't use that word lightly. No doubt dogs help healthy people maintain good/positive mental health, but unhealthy personality types definitely require more than a dog to work out their demons. 😕

I got my first dog when I was 2 years old, she died when I was 18. Cindy slept on my bed her whole life and all of my childhood. Beautiful memories of my first best friend.

Babies this young are uncoordinated and can be unpredictable, so many dogs would be scared, but this dog just understands everything. I'm so impressed.
Dogs and children have a bond that is eternal. Our GSD would make sure I never left the yard by grabbing onto my diaper and herding me back to my parents.

That cannot be instinct for the dog. After all the dog's own offspring can walk from day 1. They dont need to teach puppies to walk. So there's no instinct built into the dog to teach the child to walk or protect it in any special way till she can walk on her own. It just happens because the dog's overall attitude is to protect and mentor the child. Amazing to see this interspecies understanding.

I was lucky to have this with a black Cockapoo, Cody. He also was a rescue and from the old home videos and pics, we were stuck like glue. Letting me explore with him, pulling his ears/ tail and he being the best playmate/ baby watcher. Pics where I’ve fallen asleep with my chubby little arms around his neck and he just laying there. He couldn’t have any door closed on him and had to be around his ppl. Luckily I was his person. He crossed the rainbow bridge decades ago but he’s very much still in my heart.
