      Hey, Jo! I’m on the Alabama Gulf Coast. I really like the English cottage garden style, but I’m also very into symmetry. So, I’ve tried to keep the bed in front of the rose arbor balanced with the same planting on both sides and then once inside the garden anything goes. LOL! That’s mainly because I tossed out seeds and then let them grow where they felt like it. Have you seen Piet Oudolf’s designs? I love the swathes and patches of color that he implements. His gardens are like paintings. This year I am going to really play with color, and let more yellow in! I’m also still learning what wants to live here and what doesn’t. Isn’t playing outside fun?!?

    • @gulfcoastbutterflygardening
      @gulfcoastbutterflygardening  Рік тому +1

      Thanks, Leonila! I've had a time with my hydrangeas myself! They get weird brown spots on the leaves and in some areas of the garden I planted them in too much shade and in other areas they get too much sun. Thankfully, they are very tough, way tougher than you would imagine, and they can take being transplanted to other areas of the garden. I have some hydrangeas that I have moved multiple times! I'm going to dig my bobo hydrangea up and put it in a pot because I put it in too much shade and it needs 4 to 6 hours of direct sunlight. I was too optimistic about the light conditions where I originally planted it. All that to say that hydrangeas needs are quite varied. I sure wish that I knew the magic formula for growing them, but I am still very much in the experimental stage with them. HAHA!
