- Let's take a game room tour of my top 20 most expensive Ps1 games 2024 edition. Many backlog greats and all time ps1 classics this time, From xenogears to herc's adventure. Over 3000 dollars worth of games!
I remember seeing a lot of this games completely ignored back when they came out. I have a few of them when they were new. But it's pretty sad when all these classic games get ignored for the longest time until the retro gaming market became a thing.

I almost picked up some of these when they came out, and just for whatever reason, it didn't happen. Like the Arc the Lad collection. I was planning on getting it. I can't remember what it was but i think i got something else instead... When people say time flies, this is the truth. I always thought eh i got time I'll get to it. Next thing you know 5 years pass, then it's 10. Life just happens that way. Now, i cannot afford it.
Nice to see a collector who actually admits buying games for the prices they go for.
Its easy to buy retro games when you realize that modern games are controlled by people who hate gamers and want to push "messages."
I glad that I collect 750+ PlayStation1 games when prices was normal

Definitely pick up the first Lunar, they look so nice together and both are absolutely worth playing
A expensive ps1 game I want is Jackie Chan stunt master complete. Went under my radar when it came out

Also, it's actually worth owning that Tactics Ogre plus Reborn. The changes between both versions are so massive it's almost like 2 different games with the same-ish story. 😎
In the Hunt is what the team that made metal slug did before metal slug got released so it technically is a metal slug game
God im glad Vanguard Bandits is finally getting some recognition it deserves!! Iv been a fan sinc emy dad bought it for me back in the 90's
I’ll be shouting it from the rooftops. It’s up there with my top ps1 game. Def the best one I’ve discovered in adulthood

In The Hunt was also released on the Saturn. That port is just as pricey and the jewel case variant is also a bit pricey. Not by much though. Still a great game.
I was lucky enough to pick up Revelations Persona CIB for $50 about 7 or 8 years ago. It was going for around $100 at the time, and my local game store had been sitting on a copy for a while and gave me a deal.
Bro I have a lot of these. Most I got for like $20 or less (parasite eve 2 I bought at launch for $39.99).
I bought a lot of these games around the year 2000. They were high quality and cheap.

This video messed me up, fam. You've basically told me I have $1000 sitting next to me that I probably paid $60 for. The only problem for me now is can I bear to part with them? Especially Vanguard Bandits. I love that game, but do I love it more than $250???

Video games having these ridiculous prices makes me sad. Thankfully I already have all the games I want, many from a buying spree in 2012-2013. 😎 But the prices make me sad regardless.
Looks like in the hunt came out for Sega Saturn.
Thats why i always go with garage sales.
If you are going to play Persona i highly, highly suggest starting with 3 and then 4 and 5. The first two are not that great. They get so much better at 3.
Einhander, .50 cents at a garage mixed in with a bunch of CDs. It was in perfect condition.
Completely disagree. Persona 1 and both Persona 2 are classic PSX games that nuPersona fans tend to disregard. Persona 2: Eternal Punishment still is the best one. I'm glad younger JRPG gamers are discovering this and actually appreciating what Atlus was doing in those days with the Megaten series.
Not all games are meant to be played by everybody.
@@ajzn97 I always heard that Persona 1 had aged like spoiled cheese. Yet I do hear that Persona 2 duology is primo.
@@mistererik1972 Nah. If you love first person DRPGs, with dreamy atmosphere and awesome music, there's a lot to love. It's an excellent dungeon crawler.
If you're coming from the Final Fantasy/AAA gaming school of RPGs, when it won't appeal to you.
First person DRPGs have always been a big ask to your everyday RPG enjoyer.
@@ajzn97 I do like a DPRG even though I admit, I do tend to enjoy the easier japanese DRPGs to come out recently like: EO series, labrinyth games, mary skelter. Less so the older more, obtuse DRPGs like Wizardy, Bard's Tale, etc. I do have the Persona 1 remake downloaded from PSN, maybe I'll give it ago one day. I was scared off by talk of people calling it "clunky".
@@mistererik1972 Honestly, P1 is ten times easier than EO in all fronts. I feel there's less moving parts than EO or other modern DRPGs.
You only have to keep in mind that personas are like equipment. There's in-game instructions. But as long as you use the game's mechanics as suggested, you won't have a problem. Persona 2 is much more hands off with its systems.
The dungeons are your typical DRPGs ones with traps and all of that but much simpler than say Strange Journey. They're old but not like Phantasy Star 1 or Shining in the Darkness old.
The thing is that lots of people who play P1 nowadays do not like or even play first person DRPGs in the first place.
They compare it to like Final Fantasy or 3D RPGs or third person pespective RPGs. So they're coming from the literally the wrong angle. They don't come from that school and tend to be extra critical because of their lack of reference to that type of game design.
I'd suggest also getting/alternating with the patched version of the PSP enhanced port with the original music. I originally played the 2009 port in 2009 and really really liked it, new music and all. But I later played the PSX version with the original music and it's night and day.
If you liked DPRGs and Megami Tensei games, give Touhou Artificial Dream in Arcadia a try!

Can you explain your intro ( @ 0:03 )... I like your videos, but i still can't figure out what the hell you're talking about.... Are you saying people covering/reviewing video games on UA-cam (or elsewhere) hate video games?.. .or that, failing that, they hate the people that play those video games?... what? ... sorry, I am a little bit slow.
I should also mention that English is not my first language.
Kotaku, ign, ect. Seem to write and produce videos hating gamers and fun in games in favor of "the message" and non-traditional gamers over the wants of the majority.
@@magustrigger9195 Thank you for your reply. I did not know Kotaku & IGN were creating this type of content. I know both, but have never personally comsumed their content (I am not familiar with ETC). Please, what is this, "the message" you mention?
A lot of media and journalists coverage of games and gamers are very negative and most of them using gaming as a stepping stone while they themselves don’t like the thing they are covering or the people that enjoy them. I’m just stating that isn’t the case here lol
