It's not exaggeration to say that Grease Pencil 3 is going to change animation forever. The few of us who have been following this closely and understand the vision the devs see have known this for a long time. It's incredible to see so much of what Falk talked about last year finally come to light in 4.3. You guys have changed the game, and while the whole industry will know it soon, just know you have rabid fans like me who have known it from the start!!!
@@spiralingspiral72 Grease Pencil 1 was the version which was used just for annotations. GP2 was the one that became an actual object (2018-ish? It was used for the short film "Hero").
I think I am in love. Day jobs doing with standard 3d works, seeing something gorgeous like this reminds me of why I started this path in the first place. I swear I'll start diving in after my current project finish
This is awesome! Just wondering, where can I see the example of the car and the streaking colors/lights shown at 14:14? I scrubbed through this video and I didn't see where that one is shown in motion.
I wonder if GP will ever have an "auto in betweening" function similar to a software called Cacani. For those who don't know it's a porpertiary software that can kinda generate/make in betweens for your hand drawn animations (and it's not just simple Tweening, it can actually interpoalte between some complex actions). It's not perfect and requires some guidance/correction but it's still hella useful (especially for say, VFX animation where being On model is not as important). Apparently, OpenToonz actually has an attempt at this functionality too but it's nowhere near as good.
I think you can do something similar to moho in geometry nodes, you need to use normal curves with shape keys (relative or not, learn both) so in geometry nodes you convert curves to grease pencil, so all shape keys from curves will pass to grease pencil, maybe use some bones and drives to control it
The developers broke something in GP 3.0. When you sculpt (with Grab tool) a GP curve, binding to an Armature that is not in a rest pose, then the curve starts to go crazy. There were problems with this before, but it got even worse.
Haven't used Grease Pencil until recently. Bought a new graphics tablet and started tooling around with it and I really like it. This will probably be enough for me to ditch Flash (Adobe Animate) for good.
Sticky GP looks awesome! 37:47 I wonder if there’s a way to tie the sticky GP object to vertex groups on the main mesh so that it only applies to the vertex groups specified.
We will explain how it works more technically in the tutorials we are going to prepare for the blender studio website, atm is using UVs, but being geonodes I guess you can do what you want (telling you this just being the artist that used it, Simon is the brain behind it)
Incredible work guys, superimpressive! ..and not a single mention of AI..a rare thing these days, so thank you!! All those bloated companies should take some notes here.
hai i am new to blender and i am into grease pencil for character illustration and animation can anyone tell if we can make 3d characters with grease pencil is there a way out i tried drawing on 3d objects but the results are not good is there any other way can anyone help
What about the Animation side of the pipeline are we finally going to get Animation layers? And improvements to sculpting like major improvements and not minor improvements?
Wrong direction! We have gp insteat industrie standard sculpting, modeling, animation and texture paint! Even the low view count here shows the minorty interest!
Oh yeah great job, congrats to the team !!!
And this is just the beginning, imagine what we can do in couple of years. Mind = blown!
The beginning happened when Pablo joined the team. Genius!
@@rededwards3479 The beginning happened long ago. Dont sell the other contributors and devs short.
@@rededwards3479 noooo... I'm just a small part (I just break stuff) the developers are the real MVP (Don't tell them I said that...)

True.
•A Brush Atlas like Adobe Fresno
•Texture, Shadow & Lighting tools like Klaus (2019)
•Procedural Content Creation tools like Houdini.
There's nothing like Grease Pencil 3.0 anywhere.

when was grease pencil 2 and 1 released?

@@pablofournier8664 awesome expo, man!
I wish they'd update Line Art, it needs some love 😔

Grease pencil in geo nodes unlocks WORLDS of possiblities. No lie it’s revolutions for blender. Thank you devs ❤
Sticky GP is amazing! Is it going to be released on blender studio downloads?
Don't know yet, but we will announce it 👍

It already does. Draw a frame, skip ahead modify the drawing in sculpt mode and then add the inbetweens automatically with the interpolation tool.
Very exciting stuff
Radial symmetry for the mirror modifier when?
Just do it with geo nodes
I can't find Sticky GP in Blender 4.3!!

GP needs separate masking for strokes and fills.
