I tend to keep it to 500 or so and that will last me all day and then some. I also carry a number of guns with me, just depends on my mood for what I shoot so bandolier, batteries included, ordinance train are always part of my build.
@MrWestTek Guess it depends on what you mean by beginner. It is a level 30 required weapon after all. But you better believe because I am going commando I will have this in auto and all the steel to make ammo I can put into my stash. Can't wait when I reach that level.
Found one of your old videos about this gun and this weapon made the game so much easier. Went from level 30 to 75 in no time. Works great in events etc. I feel like the bandolier perk is a must because the ammo is so heavy! Thanks as always for the new player tips.

Purchased 1st time visiting the train station. The plan is 1970 caps at Watuga (I'm L46) Cheaper if I had Bargain at L3. Total game changer for me. I went out in the wild and just used single fire mode. Total machine. Thanks a ton. Oh, I'm on PC and had to figure out the whole VATS thing. Don't forget.. gotta make ammo for it at the tinkers workbench. Getting rid of shotgun, pistols, pipes, melee weapons (Keeping Long Range Sniper Rifle). I just noticed the wonderful sound of the Steam Engine Whistle!!! Love it..
I just switched from revolvers to a 50 cal machinegun and with bandolier I can comfortably carry above 6,000 rounds which lasts me all day of constantly shooting from event to event. (RIP pistol build)
I'm using your beginner Full Health Commando build. I just happen to have a Railway Rifle not being used. Going to change that. Update: My RR is now AA and Auto. I V.A.T.S most things to death quite quickly. I had fun doing a Prime Meat run but didn't know where to trade it.
if you’re talking about not knowing where to trade the prime meat, you go to grahms meat-cook and go turn it at that event, it’s by the dead cooking yao guai, you trade it in for legendary scrips. if you still didn’t know til this day, well you know now 👍 also have to make sure it doesn’t expire before the event pops up so if you’re grinding legendary scrips with prime meat you might also want to use the perk good with salt in luck. 👍
Little tip if you can’t find any nuclear material . You can head over to I think toxic fields to find rad scorpions and scrap their stingers for nuclear material or you can head to the Monogah power plant , claim the workhouse and place an extractor on the uranium deposit and smelt it into nuclear waste either acid and conveniently there is also an acid deposit there as well. I would suggest doing on a server that’s slow in activity or has less aggressive players to avoid contesting
Totally agree handmade for beginners is the best weapon or plasma flamer, railway without the right cards and mods is not great weapon, with the cards and mods and legendary effects it’s by far the best weapon in the game
i got the " ticket to revenge " its a railway gun..that has a perk where it is full auto...and..every concoctive hit dose more damage..which is really good

Started a new character this season, made him a melee focused carnivore. Then lo and behold, I get a Quad LVC Railway (trash 2nd star, I think it's bash damage). Whipped up a commando real quick. I still mainly play melee on this character, as my primary is a herbivore commando, but it's still useful for Uplinks and certain events where melee is impractical.
At level 52, with a commando build like you outlined recently, absolutely no other gun except the Cold Shoulder comes close. And this beats the Cold Shoulder by several miles, IMO.
Another way to get nuclear material is using a plasma weapon on enemies. When they get gooed they can drop nuclear material. I'm unsure if this is an option for people prior to level 30 however.
Yes railway rifle plan show up at whitespring resort at level 30 cost 1526 caps for me. I have not found the Berkley station yet so I cannot answer that part.
What other mods than Auto Piston? I heard someone say something about "quads"? Not sure what that is, I did drop a Vampire 1 star today, but I dont have any other mods for it. Thanks for all the vids and help btw!

Blight soup + orange mentats = pure mayhem with this build (bloodied herbivore). I can take a mirelurk queen in about 15-20 shots with this build and gun esp if you get adrenaline going.
This weapon is not just for noobs. Im level 1400 something and its my primary weapon for everything. I have a bloodied 25/25 and a QE. With those rolls i typically use around 1500 rounds for larger events such as rad rumble and eviction notice. Also to be able to just lay on the trigger it critical to get as much AP as possible.
I think it’s more a weapon for people which are already higher levels for beginners is not really good, without the right mods and legendary effects and the right cards is not great weapon

It's one of if not the best gun in the game but I gotta disagree with it being the best starter gun only because after getting a quad and maxing dmg it will ruin every other gun for the player cause nothing seems to compare considering Vats range, speed, ease of ammo availability and damage. I started as a RWR user and can't find any other gun builds as satisfying now.
Do world events, they give a lot of xp and legendary items. They spawn pretty frequently and for extra xp you an join a casual group in the social tab. Just from doing world events and some minor questing I've gotten to level 35 from a level 1 character in just 2 days and I did a lot of messing around on my way. Good luck.
I started at lvl 1 and got to 20 in one session. Idk, maybe you did afk or base building, but levelling 1-20 is very fast if you kill mobs and do quests.
I don't think auto Railway rifle is the best beginner weapon. You need to be able to spam VATS. That requires like 200 AP and either Company Tea with Herbivore or 3 pieces of AP refresh armor. Handmade or Fixer is better for beginners, since you can actually use it outside of VATS. Use Slug Buster once you complete Wastelanders. Quad Railway once you start refining your build.
Quick heads up..i found the railway rifle from Brahm travelling mutant vendor yesterday for 194 caps at level 20...although it is only usuable at level 30
You need to try to boost your intelligence first so all goes much faster :)) lunchboxes and berry mentants and for sure brain bombs and cranberry relish then you boost your levels and then you can easy build up your perfect profile :)
What about rifleman? Is this worth it for rifle build or should I look elsewhere? Currently level 35. Love your videos btw, just wish they were more universal (most of your builds/recommends are for commando)
One question? Is the lvl 45 weapon like qxfrxffr or qxcdxfr unique legendarys? Or normal craftet railway gun wich was named that way? Or are they other good railway weaponblueprints? Because i bought the plan for the railwaygun like in the Video 😮

I was about to quit after 20 to 25 attempts and the last one for the night had not one, but 3 up for sale. And Holy Mother of Repairs, even with Gunsmith 5 she requires a ton of TLC.
@jamesphillips3135 Some depend on your own personal playstyle. Blocker at lv21 is good to help mitigate those faster enemies that run towards you with melee. But if you tend to keep your distance at all times and don't think that will be a problem then you can omit that one. Commander becomes available at lv5. Expert Commander at lv.20 and Master Commander at lv40. Those are the must have 9 points to invest for dmg with automatic rifles which I recommend. If you care to lower reload time you can invest into groundpounder which starts at lv.18. Bandolier is at lv. 22 for lowering ballistic ammo weight a great deal. Tank Killer is another I would highly recommend starting at level 30. Tenderizer at lv.46. Bloody Mess is at lv42. Those are what I would consider the must haves for a good commando build. Definitely go with Auto weapons as they just tend to be better overall. So if you care that much about the order. Go perception first and get those commander perks maxed sooner than later when available. And use each level as a guide. If you use Vats heavily go for Concentrated Fire in Perception starting at lv.2 and Action Boy/Girl at lv.2 in agility. You can worry about other things as levels come and go depending on what you want. You can back out at any time when you level up so you may see all the cards available then in each stat before you make your final choice.
I’m level 881 which after five years that’s considered a noob lol, but I have been just rocking a regular level 50 auto pipe gun and a level 50 bow with explosive arrows and it’s a blast not one tapping everything. I do keep my good weapons just in case of events.

If u have the plan/ the mod unlocked then you can craft it on any railway. The little brownish orangish boxes with the vault symbol are the single use mods

If you’re not using power armor there’s a perk called ironclad under Endurance that will buff your resistances. Also a perk under perception called Refractor but that only reduces energy damage you take
Under Endurance, Lifegiver for +45 health and Fireproof for 45% less explosive and fire damage. Under Agility there is Dodgy, avoid 30% of damage at the cost of 30 AP per hit. And under Luck there is Serendipity while below 30% HP gain a 45% chance to avoid damage (no power armor tho).
There's only 6 or 7 mods for this gun. I personally only put the automatic receiver, long barrel, and reflex sight. And I only use this gun in vats, even with recoil stock it's uncontrollable
Dude im a coming back player, and ive just beem seeing all these high level players in events with cool heavy,energy guns and they are just slamming everything how do i get to that im level 200 so its not really like im a complete noob, the pa heavy gunner build is just not hitting like theirs seems to be🤷🏾♂️

Worth the mention that this is VATS only weapon, there's slight recoil which might affect your free aim...
Yeah i noticed the slight recoil too when i aimed at the enemy's head and ended up looking at venus

I’d go handmade for best. Rail spikes are heavy and could run into carry weight issues until you get the correct build completed.

you can start the game at level 20 do a couple events join expedition and you can get level 30 quick

I didn’t realize leveling up so tedious. I’ve been playing for a week and I finally made it to level 20 playing solo. Finding good weapons is hard.

With its VATS cost being at 10 you don't really need a lot of AP or any consumables to use the railway in a typical day to day setting.

It takes past level 50 to really get going in a build, you simply don’t have the perk cards. Don’t worry about Legendary perks.

You can back out at any time when you level up so you may see all the cards available then in each stat before you make your final choice.
I’m level 881 which after five years that’s considered a noob lol, but I have been just rocking a regular level 50 auto pipe gun and a level 50 bow with explosive arrows and it’s a blast not one tapping everything. I do keep my good weapons just in case of events.

@@Chavsbusiness we’ll MrWestTek has tons of videos on methods. He’s level 8000 and something he loves to level up give those videos a look. I personally don’t care about leveling anymore but to each their own. 😎

Love the gun but the ammo is a pain for me, I make them at my base but I run out of ammo so quickly, nonetheless this gun wrecks!

If u have the plan/ the mod unlocked then you can craft it on any railway. The little brownish orangish boxes with the vault symbol are the single use mods
@@scarletsymbioteoof9790 OK. I have so many in My stash of those little boxes and they weight a Ton . Should i try to sell them,because i would rather want the Plan than those random boxes with mods for weapons i dont use

No you dont have to level up another char.Just Level Up more and you can unlock all the cards you need/want

Military vehicles and bos camps are good places to get them stably, mothmans have them in their wings

You can craft some and scrap them and I think you should learn the mods for the weapons works in almost all weapons
Is there a way where I can take less damage? A certain perk? Good armor? I’m a lower level lol but love the vids man!
If you’re not using power armor there’s a perk called ironclad under Endurance that will buff your resistances. Also a perk under perception called Refractor but that only reduces energy damage you take
Under Endurance, Lifegiver for +45 health and Fireproof for 45% less explosive and fire damage. Under Agility there is Dodgy, avoid 30% of damage at the cost of 30 AP per hit. And under Luck there is Serendipity while below 30% HP gain a 45% chance to avoid damage (no power armor tho).

There's only 6 or 7 mods for this gun. I personally only put the automatic receiver, long barrel, and reflex sight. And I only use this gun in vats, even with recoil stock it's uncontrollable

All random. You want quad with this weapon. Although Anti-Armor and Bloodied are great too!

Dude im a coming back player, and ive just beem seeing all these high level players in events with cool heavy,energy guns and they are just slamming everything how do i get to that im level 200 so its not really like im a complete noob, the pa heavy gunner build is just not hitting like theirs seems to be🤷🏾♂️
