    Los angeles crest red box to bottom.- long down fast twisty downhill.
    Cooks corner (eltoro)top of hill to santiago entrance.- twisty down hill(tree tunnel). Just to name a couple.
    Lots if insane downhills roads in SoCal.

      Glendora mountain road is a must descend! Here in Glendora, Southern California. They close the road to motorists from around December to July, Something like that. Few miles of descent with an average of -6% grade but you can keep 35-40mph easily the entire ride down. Bit of a bitch to climb but worth the ride down. Up in the San Bernardino mountains are s ton of descents but just to get there, Gotta climb 7000ft then another couple thousand for the really good ones!

    I also don't like that most road cyclist are only and seriously only talking about climbs and climbs and even more climbs. But sometimes also about a handful of climbs... No matter if it's the local club and it's riders, or road cycling channels like GCN, or if you look at pro racing TV coverage. I strongly belive that epic descents should get just as much attention.

    • @SAFABrian
      @SAFABrian  4 роки тому +2

      Right!? It's all climbs, training, watts, etc.
      I'm guessing they're trying to not promote dangerous aspects of the sport but that's just silly. What happens when you get to the top of a climb? You walk done or call your mom? haha
      It's a major part of cycling and many races are won or lost on a descent. And the less they talk about and show descents the more dangerous it becomes because no one knows what they're doing when it's there time to drop in.

    • @mateagoston8145
      @mateagoston8145 4 роки тому

      @@SAFABrianOr they just grab the brakes firmly and slowly descend down and they always make sure that their climbing time is faster than their descending time. :D Me as a road cycling & extreme sport lover it sorta bothers me that most cyclists and even many non-cyclists consider mountain bikers the "big ball-cyclists" and roadies as a... "hmmm... okay, they also perhaps seldomly take some insignificant risks". I am absolutley not against mountaing biking, I am actually looking forward to buy a MTB, but I think it's time for road cycling to try to keep up too with being extreme, formidable and hair raising! I could imagine national cycling associations organising road races (on closed roads of course, not only because of other road user's safety but also because then racers could use the whole width of the road and would go down even a lot faster) on circa 10-15 mile long circuits that they specifically desing around a formidable descent and try to put the start/finish line as close to the bottom of the descent as it's possible so then the descending skills would play a truly great role. Those races wouls also fulfill the diehard climbers' wishes of course.

      All the descent vids have the riders mic'd up. It's not really the best time to be having a coffee chat either haha. Haven't figured out the two way comms yet and can't commit any more resources at this stage.

    I know of some BADASS descents I used to bomb on my skateboard back in the days when I was growing up in Southern California, Big Bear. Fast, Twisty, And just sketchy enough to give you the thrill factor with a touch of death lurking haha! I’d love to tour those wicked descents with you and a crew! Ever since I was a kid I remember thinking how much faster I could go down them on a road bike than my skateboard. If you’re interested, Let me know and I can message you via DM or something. Cheers, Man! 🍻

    Love your videos and descents ! They scare the shit out of me ! I am pretty new to cycling ..about 2 years ..I’m a roadie and loving it . Got the Scott Addict because of your review but I also can’t stand all the rules and gadgets of roadies and the arrogance . I hate rules . For instance I still ride on flat pedals and gravel shoes for the road . I also wear padded shorts and not bib shorts . I get a lot of shit for both but don’t care . I’m up to 55 miles and looking forward to my first century . In my spare time I watch your videos lol

    • @Intensecure
      @Intensecure 2 роки тому +1

      Hope you are still having a blast! I also run flat pedals and gravel shoes - screw what people think. I've even got a small mirror fitted, and it's so damn useful, I see things others miss and it makes me ride faster and safer.
      Do whatever you want as long as you ride to return and enjoy your own limits. 👍🏻👍🏻

    I live in Sunny Santa Barbara, downtown, (Laguna St and Donze) and loveeeee to rocket up and back down Gibraltor. Easily one of the sickest descents ever. (Think my top sickest was in Haiti - summit to sea, beyond sketchy.) Come back, but make sure you climb Gibraltor before dropping down it, so you know it. Ride it earlyyyyy to avoid cars and also door-knob riders who climb and wander to the wrong side of the road in a tight corner because they are overcooked. Almost ate a few of them, and now yell on the descent at upcoming corners, just in case. "Rider Rider!" Past that, SB is magical. Check out Sabah Borneo, where I also live, if you want sick and totally 100% empty descents. -AB

    Welcome to SB, many drivers never are aware of bikers. But little insider info, whether you are a fan or not Lance Armstrong would bike Old SM every time he biked the Tour De France. He said Old SM had great switch backs to train on. PS, you passed my house!
