I saw the wolf kids and the girl who could travel through time and this summary was great!! Always wanted to know what other movies like that existed. Thanks !! I even sobbed to with your description of belle hahaha so good job and thanks
Damn. Honestly. Your video was of a quality I rarely see these days in this type of content. Actually made me cry a little seeing the time and effort you put into creating it. Very well done
Wow I’m actually surprised by the fact that you have only 1200 views on this video. You clearly put in the time and effort into producing this video and I think it really shows. A very good video essay indeed. Sorry it didn’t catch on and pick up more views. I only found it cause I was specifically looking for video essays on mamorou hosoda movies.
Hey man, I genuinely appreciate this video. You put a lot of effort into it, and I completely agree that Wolf Children is effortless greatness. Mamoru Hosoda is fantastic and I for one am glad he isn't the next Hayao Miyazaki because I wouldn't have two of my favorite anime if that were the case.
I saw Belle in theaters and I really loved it. It was the first anime movie I ever watched in theaters and it will not be the last. I'm looking into Studio Chizu's past films and they all look amazing. They kind of look like another Studio Ghibli. So I'm excited to see what they made and what they will make in the future.
14:18 I get where it is that you’re coming from but I think they established early on enough that bringing humans into jutengai, or however you spell the name of their domain, was a risky proposition and could result in some negative outcomes. I think that other human character was clearly shown to be a human and they set it up well enough with him growing older and angrier that the breaking point for him would be imminent. Yeah it felt like an A/B plot situation which would’ve been better suited for an episodic series father than a feature film, and that they needed ti sprinkle in a few more moments of Kyuta himself struggling with his emotional state or at least make it more apparent what kumatetsu and the boar guy were doing differently in raising these humans to result in them developing as they did in relation to each other.
Great video, bro. I’m not a huge anime fan, but I’ve been chasing the studio ghibili dragon since Spirited Away and I finally found it with Studio Ponoc and Chizu. Especially because I’m generally a character driven audience member. I’ve only seen Belle but I’m definitely adding all of these to the list.
TGWLTT is massively underrated, its live action sequel especially. Great video! Although a lot of Hosoda's films have flaws they still deliver on an emotional resonance that few films can match.
sorry about the opening to the Belle segment, I had to mute the audio for copyright reasons and man it really fucked with the audio
Good video. I was looking for something like this since in my opinion Studio Chizu and Mamoru Hosoda are one of my favorites.

7:47 I’ll say this, I have a couple of art books for summer wars and they tend to display both of them side by side on the covers
Wow, never heard of these movies before! You made me put these on my watchlist!
