Are you going to do an episode on the circuitry or is going to be purely game play tips? I'm really interested in how these things tick considering Claw Machines(To my knowledge) are usually pretty old and have old hardware.
+Matt3756 I recently found both of your channels. I'm a fan of both now. Today I went to Walmart, the only place I know in my small town that may have a claw machine. I walked in the main entrance and sad not to see any, but went over to the smaller entrance and saw three claw machines. They all were the same type of fixed claw(hooray). The first was filled with rubber play balls about the size of the claw. The second machine had Frozen DVDs and other Frozen related high priced merchandise, however the claw so so tiny, I never seen one that small. The third was filled with normal stuffed animals. The animals so tightly packed, and some slightly to big for the claw. I spent a dollar on that machine, but nothing, I spent a dollar on the frozen one, trying to hook a small loop with the claw, and missed. I spent the rest of the time on the ball one. I missed the first attempt, then got 3 balls in a row, missed the next one, and got a 4th ball, and called it quits because I couldn't carry any more.
Great explanation of how the claw in a claw machines works. One thing I might add is in certain PBCs you can set a delay on when the solenoid fires. Rainbow cranes have this and I think default is set to .05 second delay. The maximum setting is 3 seconds, but I don't think operators mess with this setting too much. Thanks for the great video. If I could hit that like button again I would!
Ah great info there! You got me thinking about that delay. Looked in the manual for this machine and I have a "1-10 time units" setting for solenoid delay. Good call man
Here after raging on a Kroger claw machine. The "small pillow" with Barbie written on it was way too big. It was literally laying flat with no obstructions. Well played, bastards. 🤣
Thank you, I have always wanted to learn how they work. I’ve always had an infatuation with claw machines ever since I can remember. I am finally buying one for myself in a day.
Videos like this is why I love UA-cam. You just didn't have access to info like this before. You'd have to personally know someone like Brandon. Like live in his town or somethin haha
Awesome video :D i recently bought a claw machine claw. so the claw but without the whole machine. i was wondering, is it possible with every claw to open en close it manually like what you did in the video?
I've recently started playing the claw machine at my local grocery store every week. Definitely going to take these tips with me next time! This was very informative and cool.
i love this but how does it work when you have a claw that needs to catch a loop prize such as lets say a phone thats worth 10$ but has a cord for the claw to grab in the shape of a loop, what do you do to succeed there?
Ah good point. Few things going on there...Claw may not close all the way. Claw shape (slope) may not be ideal. The ~shake~ of the claw as it returns to the prize shoot. All that being said you can watch Jeremy snag that very thing first try in the "Dream Claw Featuring 5 in A ROW n More!"
Interesting video, never wouldve really thought there was alot in depth with claw machines I always thought it was just luck or even skill. Might wanna give these tips and tricks a go. Nice vid guys keep up the good work!
I had a problem with my claws when the claws closed it and didn’t get the price the claws will not open into a hit the finger manually what do you think is the problem .
Nah mate. Even if the claw grabs the same thing the same way every time, it allows you to actually grab it all th we way to the disposal bin only at certain times. I just got back from an arcade just an hour ago.
But how would you go about ever getting that duck in the first place? Is it just a rigged prize that you can't get by its very nature or is there some kind of tactic that eventually results in being able to get a proper hold on it? I mean, if the claw has to close properly around it by getting the exact grip, surely that makes it extremely challenging if not impossible to get certain prizes?
Exactly! Sometimes operators put plush in there that is just the wrong size for the claw...I see this alot with stuff like "family guy" plush etc..stuff that you will really want but it would be 1 in a million grab to get...Claw Law Number 1...go for what you can get..NOT what you want :)
Very interesting stuff! We have a claw machine in the bowling alley where I work with some pretty cool stuff. Now I'm gonna be able to give everyone pro tips on how to win (we don't own it, suck it C&N games)
You didn't explain how the adjust the odds of a machine taking your child off your hands... Seems like it is impossible most the time, but every so often it allows a small kid to climb through prize shoot for the ultimate prize, taking over childcare...
Thanks for this series, but all it taught me is that there are so many ways for the operator to cheat, why even bother? For all I know the machine I put $20 into has the claw permanently set at 10% strength. This would make Vegas proud.
My question for everyone here is why bother paying 5 - 10 dollars to get a stuffed animal that's worth a dollar. Doesn't make much sense to me. Now if they had something worth going for yeah, then it might be worth it.
8 years after posting and you're still helping people. I'm just building a claw machine at the moment and this was really helpful
Yeah
Such a great job Brandon. HQ crew...this is my best friend in the whole world and I am so happy to working with him!

Nah mate. Even if the claw grabs the same thing the same way every time, it allows you to actually grab it all th we way to the disposal bin only at certain times. I just got back from an arcade just an hour ago.

I bought a claw machine and once the product gets about 25% low, the claw stops reaching it. Any idea what could be wrong?

So to get a good prize you need to establish a strong grip? is that it?
Many variables but it's the best place to start. We'll have a bunch of videos going in depth.
